I've not had my zed long (about a month) and I've suddenly noticed a knocking/rattling noise at around 2-2500rpm from the engine.(I'm unsure if the noise seizes after this range because the general noise of the engine and exhaust gets too loud, plus I don't want to rag the tits off it if theres a potential problem!) Its more audible when revving/accelerating and it kind of sounds like a noise a diesel engine would make. The noise isn't that loud and you can't hear it when driving but theres definately cause for concern. A few guys at zedfest on the sat had a listen and advised to change the oil asap. (current oil levels are normal and its never been too low) Im doing this the weekend but can anyone advise of a specialist around the midlands area if not? (I live near Cannock)Or does this sound familiar to anyone? Any advice would be much appreciated

  5. Ok so ive not had my zed long and when I bought it the air con button was missing. It still operates fine but I thought it would be a piece of cake to locate one on ebay or something... no such luck Can anyone point me in the right direction? Only thing thats come close is a new unit, I just want the button!! Lol. Its an 03 import. Cheers.

  7. Got in the car this morning and its working again??! It didnt operate as smoothly but the auto drop up/down when I open the door is working again too. Just for future reference how would I reset them?
  8. Ok so I'm not having the best of luck with my new zed.. today I wondered what a certain button was on my door panel. It was the passenger window lock (obviously! ) but after I clicked it again I still cant operate the passenger window. Its dropped slightly (as if the doors open and wont go back up) and makes a clicking sound when I use the window switches. What has happened?? Please help!!
  9. Problem solved (touch wood!) The throttle body was filthy and after cleaning it (I decided not to take it off) the car spluttered and sounded rough. I did the idle relearn and so far its running smoothly and isnt cutting out. I am one happy man
  10. Yer I was very delicate when handling the maf ive got a throttle body cleaner that says to spray it up the air intake but wouldnt that be too corrosive for the maf?? Also if the problem persists, what else could it be? (Ive looked up cam shaft senors and that seems beyond my minimal mechanical skills!)
  11. How would I do that? Im planning on cleaning the throttle body, anyone got any tips? Is it possible to clean it without entirely taking it off? Ill disconnect the battery first

  13. Ok so ive cleaned the air filter and maf and the problems still there ..... any ideas?
  14. Had a quick look at my air filter on my lunch and damn! Theres leaves, dirt and dead bugs in there, it really is filthy... I'll clean that before messing with the MAF....

  17. Cheers for the replies. Planning on cleaning the MAF sensor tonight and will check air filter at the same time. Might be a stupid question but whats the best thing to clean the air filter if filthy??
  18. Really?? Ill try anything! Bit of background info. I had it from a garage who'd imported it for himself and had only put 500 miles on the clock in 4 years, so in my mind that could be a similar situation? The battery could have been flat/changed before I test drove it? I was a bit sceptical at how little he had used it but it was in immaculate condition and drove perfectly. Cheers for the reply
  19. Hi all, I've recently became a 350Z owner and joined here today so hope I'm posting this in the right area. For the first week the car was a dream to drive but has recently been cutting out randomly. It still drives completely normal and feels fine but sometimes when I come to a stop and dip the clutch the engine will either stall or bog down, like its struggling. If it doesnt stall it carrys on feeling fine to drive... when it happens there are no warning lights and the CEL has never appeared. I've read similar threads which seem to suggest doing the ecu resets and idle relearn etc... this has actually improved the smoothness of the engine but its still cutting out and bogging down randomly.. Is cleaning the MAF and TB going to help (as other threads may suggest) or is there a deeper issue here? I'd greatly appreciate any advice as this is really stressing me out! Cheers
