  1. Not CEL theres an actual oil light. looks like a oil filling can (RED) it came on under braking and went off straight away.. i figure it was becuase of the oil moving forward and dropping under the sensor.

i haven't driven the car since and i only intend to drive it to the nearest ramp once my order arrives from opie oils

  2. Hi folks,

So i got an oil warning light under heavy breaking i figure this isn't the end of the world but still not good!!!! Arrgh! I immediately pulled over and tipped 1Ltr of oil i had in the boot into the car.

I checked the oil level using the dipstick and i wasn't sure if i had enough in so when i got home i opened up a brand new 5L container of Titan Race Pro S checked the oil level (still not sure) and started glugging it in.

When i fired it up oil pressure looked pretty good and it was only as i was driving around i got a strong smell of oil... Thought at first i'd spilled some but not likely.. every time i floor it to the limiter the oil pressure rockets (not to max but high enough for me to think its not normal) and i get a nice big blue smoke cloud at the exhaust which isn't doing my nice clean nismo tips any good!

so it isn't smoking on start up or part throttle.... only when up near the limiter with the throttle fully open. a blip on the down shifts cause a little cough too!

I'm just about to buy some oil so i can service it again this weekend and i figure its the only way i can be 100% sure how much bloody oil is in the car!! Hopefully this smoke should go away right or am i looking at a serious problemo

    cheers,

    Matt

  3. So would you recommend the gtechniq brand? I buy most of my stuff from clean your car.com

I'm pretty sure they sell it.

I'll probably go for the easy to apply stuff for now. Having watched YouTube tho it doesn't seem to scary to apply the gtechniq g5 tho

  4. Hi folks,

I've been using rain x for about 2 years now and i think it's pretty good stuff. I love how the rain beads up and comes right off even at 30 / 40 mph with no wipers.

Problem is it tends to cloud up over a few weeks and streak.

What are the alternatives in products?

  5. thanks for all the help guys... i might bring the car to work tomorrow and have a go in the workshop after we finish..

my lights are fine but have strange cracking marks on the inside which obviously i cant get out

I got sick of polishing them only to find that the marks on the inside where still there every time. The fading / fogging came off easy each year i did them so not really i big deal. I just feel they really let the car down and wanted to get some 'cleaner' ones.. The new ones i bought still have a couple of marks on them but look a lot better.

I do intend to sell my old lamps as they are perfectly fine and in good working order its just i felt they really let the car down and wanted some cleaner ones. They might be ideal if someone wanted to have a go at stripping them down and polishing the inside maybe?

  6. Is there a "How to" remove headlight cluster (entire unit) and how to replace / re-align properly?

i got myself some new head lights in much better condition but before i wade in and start snapping things and making a mess thought i would get some advice

  7. Good point about the Fedz. As I was at the back and we'd just passed the pulled trio of Audis, I was watching both my speed (as usual) and my rear view mirror. At one point I could see all across the tops and no cops for at least half a mile. Next minute he's behind and giving it full blue lights, he MUST have been lurking somewhere in a side road/hidden layby to appear like that out of nowhere.

You've been warned if you're in that neck of the woods.

Yes the evo isn't what it used to be, too many people turning up and treating it like a closed circuit i guess.

Its still a great road to drive even at low speed and you always see other enthusiasts just out doing the same thing, Enjoying a great road!

  8. Evening folks,

So for those meeting at Lymm services we leave at 8:30 (so try and be there beforehand) I'll probably be late as usual haha!

Those meetings at Llangollen be there for 10am (hopefully I'll be able to find the car park this time)

  9. I managed to 'bump' mine when the battery died at Silverstone a year ago. I was hammering the tunes (as you do) and the thing just died on me after a few hours.

I parked facing down a hill, depressed the clutch flicked the ignition into the on position and rolled away in second. Quickly lifting the clutch got me running and the tunes playing again.

I did this twice from memory with no apparent issues, how come you didn't try to bump it if you where on a hill? that would have been my first action i feel (perhaps not the correct one)

Ive heard bad things about 'jumping' a car that it can mess with the electronics but i suppose bumping isn't much better on the mechanical.
