  1. 2 weeks ago I posted about a 370Z I was looking at from a private seller (who I believe is a member of the 'other' group). I managed to quickly organise the sale and have now owned it for a week! Probably time for a proper 'hello!' thread...

When I was younger I always wanted a 350Z (my friend even bought me a model of one for my birthday once) and when the 370Z came out, I wanted one of those too. I'm now super-fortunate that at 23 I'm able to afford to buy and keep one; dream come true pretty early in life! My fiancée was the voice of reason (?) when I was deciding; she pointed out you only live once and if I don't get one now when I can, who knows what might happen in the future!

Anyway! It's a 2010 black edition in quartz. I'll post the number in the 'number thread' to help keep track! I don't have any plans to modify it, as I'm a big fan of the OEM look, but we'll see.

I want to say a big thank you to everyone on this forum  it was really useful browsing through old topics about questions and thoughts I had, and I'm sure that's going to continue through ownership. Plus it's just really interesting to see what people do with these cars.

Oh, and I'm in Milton Keynes; looks like there are a few members from around these parts?

Of course, this thread would be worthless without pictures so here are some from when we visited my parents yesterday. Hope to take some better ones soon.

  2. I had a sneaky suspicion that was going to be the response after doing a quick search on here too. Fair enough, I will take your advice!

i'm assuming u did a good look at the car before buying it so after that you just gotta take it as it comes lol

Yeah as best as I could; got an AA vehicle inspection too which all came up clear.

  3. The warranty on the 370Z I bought last week (privately) is due to expire in a few days. I've booked in to take the car to the local dealership to ask about extending the warranty for another year. The previous owner was quoted £800 for it, which feels quite steep to me... My main thought is peace of mind as I've only just got the car.

But I thought it best to check with you guys (the experts!) as to your thoughts. I'm all for cancelling the booking and putting the £800 in savings instead if you think that's a better idea. As an aside, I'm not mechanically minded.

Oh, and it's a 2010 black edition with 20k miles on the clock & I'm the 3rd owner.

  4. That's quite the drama! Not sure I would have the strength or initiative to smash the window with a windscreen wiper! Can't believe the guys behaviour, even if he did steal the car and everything else - trying to escape by driving away surely could've been even worse? i.e. could've hit someone.

Hope he doesn't get away with it.

  5. I'm struggling to find somewhere that will insure me for 1 day to take the car for a test drive. I think it's the combination of my age (I'm 23) and the car. It's my fault a little for leaving it too late (today) as the owner is also understandably reluctant to organise adding me on to his insurance as a named driver (e.g. if the details are wrong he will be liable). I also have no insurance in my name - I am only named driver on another policy.

Any suggestions or thoughts? I think I'm happy to forgo the test drive anyway, as it will be driven during the inspection and I don't need a test drive to tell me I want one! But is that wise? :S

  6. Hmm yeah. I asked and the front right one is 2 months old, and the others he's not sure. They were on the car when he bought it in February last year, it had done 12000 miles at that point and the tyres 'looked new' then.

The tyres have more than 5mm tread on all of them, apparently (I haven't looked at the car myself yet).

  7. Hello community! I'm hoping that soon I will be a proper member (i.e. own a Z)...but for now I'm hoping I might be able to get some advice.

I'm looking at this second-hand 370Z black edition from a private seller:

Everything checks out, but you know what they say about things seeming too good to be true.

Anything I should be wary of? Generally I would rather buy from a dealer, but I'm not sure what that would gain me here? I'll have the car inspected before buying.

Sorry if this is a bit of an...exploitative...first post.
