sounds like air is being forced out somewhere rather than sucked in - could it be the pcv pipework leading to the intake? - think you need to get your lughole a bit closer and try and pinpoint the source
-
I test drove one with a powerflow system before I bought mine - it sounded fab and maybe quicker because of it, but I dont know if I could've put up with it day to day.
Also..... the previous owner said he had been through 3 propshafts since he'd got it and he said the silencer was fouling it when it went over speed bumps!?

Ha, it wasnt me but I spent my formative years (3 to 18) in Houghton, my folks are still there, so funny to see "the cut" on here.

Think I may need a new slave but not sure if I need to replace the line - isnt the oem part a hard line?

would one of those forked ball joint separators go between the chassis and the top of the arm and let you force them apart?

Have you driven it? People have z's on here that have done similar or higher mileages so dont be put off by that if it has a good history. Does the history show when the clutch has been done as that could be imminent. You could do the re-laquer yourself with a can. You need to be looking for oil smoke when driving, overheating issues, rust (rear and front arches) etc. Alloys being curbed are immaterial - you will probably do it yourself anyway at some time.
Btw, I understand why you want to spend "so little" on a Z!!

If I'm mot wrong (and it has been known) pinking is the sound you can hear when the fuel air mixture in the cylinders detonates (like a diesel), instead of burning rapidly and it can wreck your engine eg put a hole in the top of the piston! Its usually most noticable when the engine is under load eg when going up a hill in a highish gear, putting your foot down will make it pink badly if there is a problem. Common cause on older cars was ignition timing being out, with the Z I guess you could still get that but it may mean something was awry with sensor or the ecu (off the top of my head!!!)what the hell is pinkling? lol
Pinkling now, is that still legal?

Why is magnatec getting such a bad press here? - I confess to having used it in the past!

My money is on the door seal - mine became dislodged slightly at the front and the water was pouring in. It must be coming from somewhere almost directly above the pond as its a pretty small area for it to get into

Good luck with the search

I had this problem and the shop supplied the wrong shade - they then matched the shade the car and the new one is ok - it has a code on it - P422-7FPBB.
