  1. Hopefully this bad weather will pass soon and I will have chance to detail my 350 for the first time.

I just ordered myself some bits to make a half decent job of it. I have not really done more that a bit of a spit and polish on my other cars, but wanted to make the effort with my Z. So this is all pretty new to me.

I got myself a Bilt Hamber clay, and will be polishing with Autoglym Resin Polish. I have also bought some Poorboys Black Hole glaze, and a Dodo Juice wax to finish :)

My Zed is Ebisu, so spent a few hours reading up on what would be best for a black car. Paintwork is pretty good, but has the usual slight swirl marks all over, and the the odd little scuff on the rear quarter from the previous owner.

Do you guys think I have made a good choice? Any recommendations?

  2. I'm no expert, so someone else might want to chip in here... Engines seem pretty bullet proof, all the ones I tested all seemed smooth and quiet. Listen for any unusual gearbox whines or noises. When reversing or pulling off, listen for the rear shafts clunking, if they do they may need replacing. Not sure there is much else to listen for...

  3. Welcome mate.

I actually went and saw this car in the flesh, before xmas. Along with a few others they had.

When I saw the car, the front right headlight was smashed and the bumper had some damage too!! I'm not sure if you are aware of this??

I was really put off by the salesmen here, they seemed nice to start with. But really got the hump when I didnt want to do a deal there and then! I'd only came to see what they had.

The other cars they had all seemed tatty. Flat tyres, dead batteries, missing gas struts and no fuel in them. Like they had been sat there a while.

To top it off the car I went to see wasnt even for sale still. I found out that they keep cars they have sold on their website to attract more business.

  4. Thanks guys. I will take the dvd out next time i see the car. That should narrow it down a lot.

Car has only done 37,000 so wouldnt have thought the fuel pump should be on it's way out.

I would like to think it's the dvd drive, can they be replaced easily/cheaply if it is?

  5. Just placed a deposit on an '08 350Z GT. Awaiting prep and all that boring stuff, but if all goes well I'll soon be a proud owner :yahoo:

I did have a question about the car making a high pitch whine though, and have posted topic about it here http://www.350z-uk.c...-pitched-noise/

    UPDATE 12/01/2013

I had to wait a week, but all was good, and was able to pick up my Z today!!!!

I'm over the moon, not stopped smiling yet :D Just trying not to think about my poor bank account :p

Big step up from a Fiesta though! :)

Some photos when I got her home...

  6. Hi chaps. Took a test drive in an '08 350Z today, was very happy with the car. Execpt it made a high pitch whine/noise, the entire time the ignition was on. Me and the salesman determined that the DVD drive for the satnav was the culprit, but I was concerned it may be the fuel pump. The noise was high pitch but could be heard fairly clearly during slow-medium speed driving. The noise starts from when the key is turned to posistion one in the ignition. If anyone knows when the fuel pump kicks in, maybe that would answer my question? Has anyone come across this before?
