i know weather is breaking my balls at the minute
will an led torch be good for inspecting swirls?
-
i already own the cleanse kit so depending on how much time i have will depend if i use it. lol
can't wait to got the da. the paint under light really has annoyed me from day one, Im sure the two megs stages will do a lot to correct this
-
so no cleanse?
i do lots of reading on detailing forums and cleansing the paint seems to be a well recommended step, i know you get lots of ott and ocd folks on there though!
-
some really good discussions at the minute which leads me to seek a bit of advise myself.
im ordering a kestral da6 and have this plan in mine when i get a good day...
wash
clay autoglym kit
autoglym paint cleanse
megs 105 to correct swirl
megs 205 finishing polish
cleanse again? to remove polish oils etc
megs caranuba wax
im unsure on the cleanse? would you do it after the clay and again after the polish to ensure a perfect surface for a better wax?
the products listed are what i already own or what comes with the da6 kit .
discuss!

well my drive to work is 2 minutes so car barely gets warm Monday to Friday, will keep an eye on my levels.
thanks
-
any more opinions on this? or things to check?
-
its strange because all has been fine before on both this site and others. must have been a change somewhere along the line!
-
all of a sudden pictures in threads are just showing as question marks. this is on my android phone, anyone else having this issue?
its not a site fault as its the same on the glanza owners club, lots of people with same issue on there.
-
Yeah im not overly concerned about the gunk. My wife has a 2l beetle and they are know for this problem so didn't panic when i seen it on mine.
Oil on dip is clean. Im pretty sure its fine, i brought the car from jaguar and it had full service history and health checks. I've contacted then about the issue, just awaiting reply.
Im just looking into what it could be if its more sinister of an issue and if there is any other things to indicate what it may be. Thanks

My zed seems to be a little smoky, its a greyish white and seems to hang around a little. I know the weather is cold and i only make short journeys so could just be down to this but it is concerning me slightly. Don't seem to be using any fluids but as i said i don't do many miles.
There is a little build up of gunk on the oil filler and the exhaust tips are a little white inside. Any clues there?
Car has just had a service when a brought it 2 months back.
What's everyone else's zed like in these conditions?

I did plan on polishing in the dark! Think a da may be on my birthday list
-
That could be a factor. I used the pad that came with my autoglym paint cleaner. So maybe that's a bit more of a finishing pad. Worth a try! Cheers
-
Im just amazed that the after all the work i put in there is no improvement under lights. There must be something im missing.
How important is the applicator pad? Would it need to be a cutting pad with the swirl x
-
Thanks. I thought the swirl x would do the job but no improvement. Heard a glaze can help but i dont want a short term fix

My gunmetal zed has light swirls in the top coat. Paint looks amazing during day and under most light conditions but street lights really seem to show up there imperfections. Yes i am anal and its prob nothing to most but its frustrating me.
I have cleaned, clay, cleansed, swirlx, super resin, wax. And still they are there, all work done by hand. Never really had this issue with past cars so either previous owner had really bad cleaning skills or is there the top coat bad on zeds?
Any tips or detailers close to nottingham want to offer there services?

Just off j26

me too now i am a married man and a little older! It was my daily drive and you cant use all that power on the roads very often
-
but a tin can with almost 300bhp per ton and full boost by 3000rpm with all the supporting mods to put it on the ground makes for a very fun car. On a practical lever it was lacking and there are plenty of bad examples of cars and owners to give them a bad name. So i understand but driving it would change your mind im sure!
-
alloys are not modding in my eyes, especialy when they are an optional extra wheel.......
Crap im already moving through the spectrum, refusal to mod, denial, whats next anger and then exceptence!
-
i will try to resist for as long as possible, some gun metal rays would be nice though.
Glanza was front wheel drive, you can get a 4 wheel but they are non turbo, there are a few high spec coverted 4 paws about though

is it possible to appeal to the dvla over which tax band an import 350z should be in. The car in question is a 2003 and was imported in 2006 and is in band m. Has anyone managed to get there tax reduced to the 2003 rate and how easy was it to do so?
-
thanks for the welcomes. I will need to check the tax situation on the one im looking at. Im waiting on the sale of my current car to sell so im hoping it sells soon so i can finally own a 350!
