  1. Very nice! and is probably the only car I'd exchange my GTR for.

I did try an R8 (albeit on track) but I found the brakes a little less progressive than I prefer. On the upside  I think the R8  sounds better than my R35 (a "lowly" 680 bhp).

Oh and I've been to a few  meets with my big Datsun and no-one complained I was in something other than  a ZED.

  2. Am not sure which part is more stupid ... a) actually DOING it or b) posting it on social media and thereby being caught!

Had a bit of a death grip on his steering wheel too! That wouldn't cause any issues in the event of having to actually correct any significant movement of the car would it... HAH!!!

  3. Is most certainly the high point of my day! Am loving the detail commentary and the varied ways of thinking round a problem and coming up with a solution even if it does involve big hammers!

I washed my R35 today - (again) - the extent of my DIY skills! Oh actually that's not true - I also made a brace for a wobbly toilet cistern (been meaning to do that since I bought my house in June - now seemed an opportune time) - massive amount of pre-planning and precision execution (AKA - cut two lengths of timber - slip them behind the top of the cistern and secure said cistern using longer screws through the timber braces and into the wall!) I forgot to take pics!

Keep up the good work Chris!

  4.  I think I mentioned on Sunday that I was having a new front splitter fitted?

Thought (some of you) might be interested to see it now.  The splitter vents are ducted channels moulded into the undertray leading to the front discs. You would not believe how many fasteners secure this entire (and HUGE) assembly to the bumper! But I know it isn't going to be pulled off should I ever happen to be moving "briskly"!

(Apologies in advance for polluting this forum with my big Datsun).

Hi all, home safe and sound. Thank you everyone for coming out in less than desirable conditions, hope the breakfast made up for it *I'm still full now!!! Lovely seeing you all, great people, great cars.

Also can I ask if you had a nice breakfast to drop Oakes Farm Shop a comment on Google, as no doubt we'll book there again in the Spring for breakfast and kindly even opened up early for us which I thought was very kind too.

  6. I have an unused genuine Nissan part, left side Compression Arm that has been travelling from house to house with me for about 5 years! As I don't have my ZED anymore and with another (and final!) move coming up this needs to go!

£100 including next day delivery mainland UK.

Can be collected from Cardiff for £80.

  7. Good to meet new faces... or if my memory is faulty... old faces!

Good brekkies too - only just made it on time didn't we!

Can't believe  I confused this location with the one earlier in the year... who knew it was a completely different airport! There are times when I wouldn't trust myself to cross the road and post a letter...

  8. I said goodbye to my 350 today.

Bought by a very pleasant new(ish) member on the forum whom I hope will enjoy the car as much as I have in the past 5 years.

It did tug at my heart strings seeing and hearing her being driven away - :byebye:

Mods - please mark this as SOLD... <sigh>

How much do these cost to run if you do around 4K miles a year?

I'd use a independent garage for servicing not Nissan.

Assuming nothing goes wrong, then your biggest costs are tyres (say £250 a corner), Discs (anything from £700 a pair UPWARDS), Pads (Front £450 pair, Rear - £350 pair). Annual servicing costs are not too bad apart from the big one at 60,000 somewhere in region of £650-£900 (replace brake hoses and transmission fluids).

The most likely thing to need attention is the transmission on CBA (Non facelift) models. They can suffer from a reverse-first-reverse selection failure which is relatively easy to fix (but approx £4k). If you do get that problem DON'T ignore it! Selector forks WILL break and you could add a few more £k!!!!

Def use one of the reputable independents for service/repairs! Apart from their level of knowledge generally being superior they will repair stuff that Nissan wont!  For example go to Nissan with a transmission fault - "Certainly Sir that will be £18,000 please!"  Kid you not -Nissan will NOT repair transmissions under ANY circumstances -they will only sell you a new one!

You can buy good aftermarket warranty cover from some of the independents - about £1600 pa - but you could pocket that and "self insure".

OK having said that - GET one and you will grin from ear to ear EVERY time you press that big red START button! Worth ever penny!!
