  1. The Cree ones are the ones most commonly fitted

Mine have 9 LEDs in the bulb, I didn't like the Cree as the light projects forward and not to the side so much

Tbh there isn't a lot if room in front of my bulbs so the above could be too long

Hmmm, I may go for the cree one's then! I've had a couple of eBay cheapies all round and they're a bit hit and miss! Some have been fine but the connectors on others seem to have gone already so they just don't work :(

My sidelights, number plate lights, vanity mirror lights, interior lights and boot light were all off eBay and been in a year without problem but as you say it's hit and miss, Cree have a good rep

Meant to ask, do you remember what type bulb the vanity lights are in the sun visors and the boot lamp? May as well chmage them as everything else is done! :)

  2. A) if it's under £390, so long as you can prove/explain it's for personal use only, then you're ok.

    2) they'll ask to see an invoice if they are really bothered. They'd probably go, "oh, they're just buttons" and leave you be anyway.

    C) I forgot you can't use "B" for lists on here without B) coming up

  Nice work around! ;)

If I can get in touch with a supplier then I'll definitely look into it! I wonder how much weight and space 10 or 20 GTR buttons would add up to mind??

  3. Out of curiostiy, if I was to buy a number of the GTR buttons out there and bring back here in packaging in my suitcase;

    A. Would customs have a problem with me buying 1 item in bulk (say 10 or 15 of them?) even if it was under the £390 limit mentioned above.

    B. If not, how would they assess the value of them to judge whether or not it was under the limit?

  4. Bring me back an aerojacket type 3 spoiler please!

That's the 1 spoiler I was actually looking at for myself! I love it from certain angles but then I see it from the side on view and think it just looks too big! Still looking for a perfect one! :(

Sadly too big for luggage anyway me thinks!

If you have a 2009 zed then get the navtool from there to connect a reverse camera

I've got a 60 plate with the connect plus so guessing that's of no use to me? Is there an equivalent for the 2010?

  5. If the brake fluid is low, this will be a good sign that the pads are worn, if you top it up you will then have to remove some fluid when it comes to a pad change otherwise it will overflow & eat away at any painted parts of the car it comes in contact with unless rinsed off immediately.

Just to note brake pads will not be covered in your warranty

Cheers for the heads up mate! Everytime I go out to the car I keep forgetting to check the level but will do so lunch time!

  6. Nah, it'll be fine. Maybe some NoNails or whatever you've got floating around, I only used mastic as I had a tube on the van.

Went to B&Q and picked up some nomorenails double sided tape as I couldn't find anything that looked suitable that was also for outdoor use. Will try some glue I already have lying about first to see how that goes! Will post up the results here :)

I empathise with your plans. I paid a significant amount of money to have a scratch on my previous Z's door repaired having stupidly knocked it against the lamp post outside.

Yeah that's what I'm dreading, a big repair bill for one little knock :( If this works I think I may go round every pillar and post in cardiff that I'm likely to park next to and cover them all! As well as my neighbours car :D

  7. Why not get your stuff delivered to the villa and then ship back to UK by USPS or similar.

You will require to complete a Customs declaration despatch note CP72.

    Simples.

    Alex. :)

Would that work out any chepaer than just ordering direct from the US to ship to the UK though?

HFCs are good ones as they fit in a suit case. Everything else of value is quite big so will be awkward with customs.

I like that idea, any ideas where to look on US sites for some?

GTR Start Button $25 instead of £52

I've actually just bought one for myself from a user on here for £30 but if I could get a few of them it may be an idea to bring some back and sell on here...

  8. That place does look expensive though, should be cheaper alternatives elsewhere. It was just the first page I saw :)

Yeah you gave me the idea to look for something like this actually, not sure if it will be thick enough but worth a go for 99p!! :Dhttp://www.screwfix.com/p/economy-pipe-insulation-28mm-x-1m/38391

    Or these...

    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/281532800183?_trksid=p2060778.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

Might be an idea, quick search and i can't find any that would be long enough......

You can join cable ties together to make them long enough

Very good point, going to try to an adhesive though I think! :)

  9. how about, some nice thick foam, then held on with fairly industrial size cable ties assuming you can get all the way around? you know the ones used to hold tree saplings to their posts, or the metal ones. then spray the lot to match.

Might be an idea, quick search and i can't find any that would be long enough but great idea if the sticky pads or adhesives don't work, cheers :)

    Get something like this? :)

Now that might definitely be worth a go! Will have to have a better look at the pillar later as I think it's got funny angular corners, but they seems perfect for what i'm after if I can find the right one :D

  10. Check the brake fluid level and/or how much meat is left on the pads

Cheers mate, now that you mention that I did have that issue with my 350 but the light was on constant that time! Still worth checking I guess

Without trawling back through your posts - why back to BMW?

As GIXXERUK says check your brake fluid level - make sure it is up the max - 350's are certainly very prone to the symptom you describe and no doubt 370's will have the same issue as we hear more about more low brake pad wear and the fluid level in turn reduces in the reservoir.

Sorry, should have explained  I got the car from my local BMW dealer after giving up on finding a 370 even within 150 miles of me so was settling for a Z4 then they called me 3 days later to say they had in the exact 370 i wanted as part exchnage :teeth: Anyway, got a 6 month warranty from them and it's booked in already to have the parking sensors and washer fluid sensor fixed :)

Will check brake fluid and pads in that case, cheers mate :)

  11. and have a value of less than £390 if you don't want to pay VAT when bringing it back into the UK :)

Is that the limit per item or of the overall value of goods? I'm planning to do my usual and take almost no luggage with me and stock up on clothes for the next year while I'm there but can always just rip off the tags and claim they were with me on the way out anyway ;)

Bit more difficult to do that with car parts though  Not looking to buy expensive parts anyway, was just thinking of some smaller cheaper mods :D

  12. I'm sure some of the double sided number plate tape would hold the foam on

Very good idea actually, hadn't thought of that for some reason, even though I actually have a brand new pack of them rolling about in my boot

Old carpet. I've used that on the walls inside a garage before.

Yeah, was thinking carpet, or even underlay which would be more padded i guess but not sure it would be firm enough as the contact is only going to be the middle of the door on the corner of the pillar so would be even worse than just catching the edge of the door on a wall if you see what I mean?

Any reason why you can't reverse in to your space, or vice versa, thereby placing the pillar on the drivers side?

Otherwise, as above, carpet is effective and cheap (old cut off), or a piece of camping/training mat, probably available in grey somewhere to tone it down. Try a spray on contact adhesive.

Hard to explain but as the pillar isn't at the front or back of the space but in the middle, when I try parking the car the other way round I have to park really far forward sticking out of the space to leave enough room for the realllly long doors to swing open at all. That probably doesn't make sense but the positioning of the pillar doesn't allow me to reverse into the space which I would prefer anyway :(

Think you might be onto something with the camping mat though, think they're probably a bit more dense/firmer than regluar foam and thicker than carpet! Will have to have a look in go outdoors later i think

    Second the old carpet suggestion.

You only need a thin strip at the height the door would catch the pillar and can screw it onto the pillar.

Either that or make the missus get out before you park!

Depending on how much room my neighbour leaves for me I do usually make her jump out first  But not always bothered to do so and I just know it's gonna happen one day :dry:

  13. Firstly, sorry for the influx of threds today

Random one but spending 3 weeks in Florida in May, will be at the in laws Villa so I have the address to ship stuff too, are there any parts only availble or chepaer n the US for the 370 that might be worth ordering for delivery to the villa to bring back with me? Obviously would need to fit in a suitcase? :)

    Cheers

    Josh

  14. At my flat I have a designated parking space, on one side of the psace is a big old concrete pillar. Partly a good thing as there half the chnace a neigbouring cars doors are going to fly open into mine but it also means there's less space to open the passenger side door. If it was on the drivers side when I park I wouldn't be so bothered but I don't trust others, mainly the missus not to smash the door into it one day

So, was going to wrap the corner of the pillar with something to protect the door should that happen! I was just thinking some thick foam from a DIY place glued to it but Ive discovered the problem with that is that most glues would melt the foam as would any spray paint (want it to blend in as much as poss with the concrete pillar)

Has anyone got any better suggestions as to how to do this on the cheap?

  15. Since owning my 60 GT auto I've not yet had a proper oppurtuity to take it for a nice drive and really open it up but I have noticed on a few occasions if I do give it some welly that the red handbrake warning light flashes up briefly while doing so, kind of like you might expect the traction control light to do so in the wet or something.

Is this normal? It's going back to BMW to have a couple of other things fixed end of the month so is this something I need to mention to them as well?

  16. Yeah definitely going to get some black on the front, would prefer a nice lip, not seen one I like yet, if there's not one coming I'm going to get the centre of the front bumper wrapped in black! :)

I have a 3 piece design one that will be ready mid February

Comes either gloss black or gloss black with Carbon centre bit

    B)

Sounds very very interesting! :) I'll hold off for a while then! Cheers for the update :)
