  1. Went out for a drive in the Welsh back roads before the lockdown and I suspect the bushes on the 350z is long overdue, none too surprising as they are 16 years old and done 100k. The car feel vague and and loose whereas my friend's Cayman GT4 feel so direct and planted!

Done some reading on the bushes Porsche uses and noticed they utilised solid bearings alot on their suspension. I do realised solid bushes will be harsher on roads but I would not mind that given I only uses it for trackdays and weekend blast. I don't mind a bit of NVH for the improve turn in and the planted feel, so can anyone who had the SPL bushes care to share their experience and which one they replaced? Thanks

  2. Another pic from Anglesey from a few months ago, can't wait to go again so I could see how much difference the seats gonna makes

Ps also fitted Hardrace front upper camber arms as well, - 2.5f and - 3.5r camber atm, really looking forward to how the car feels after all those bits, coolerworx shifter possibly the next mod down the line

  3. Been stuck at home for a few days now with this chest infection, bored out of my mind so thought I will give this a little update, car run good as ever and been away to get the rust on the rear arch cut out and new metal welded in, previously had a filler job but its pointless as the rust comes back eventually. Oh and having some Buddyclub seats installed too on Bride rails #jdm  Can't wait to pick the car back up! IMG_20191207_183404_158.jpg.7a5ff848d4f5f9f466440e9fd698c1db.jpg

    Hey,

Ive actually completed the code, tested it on my workbench and it all seems to work, just not had the weather for the last 7-10 days to do any electronics work inside the car. So, soon-ish, but no exact timeframes yet. The current module is still available however :)

Great let us know when it's ready thanks

Hey all, just as a reminder, I currently have 3 of these in stock fully built and ready to go, I also have several other modules part made and a ton more PCB's, so these should be "always" available now moving forwards.

Now, onto future developments. I have been working on and off for about 6 months now on a "upgrade" to this module, the new one would do all the same stuff, but would also allow the boosted guys to get in on the fun. It would allow Brake Boosting (build boost pressure on the line) and for the hoonigan in us all, it would also allow standing burnouts as it disables the throttle limit/cut when the brake is pressed.

Im getting the code finished up and have ordered some PCB's but no components yet, im just letting you all know what im working on :)

Any idea when this new version will be available? Thanks

Really is a great circuit, the Coastal layout is the one to do too........the GP layout adds nothing that's special or fun while taking out the Corkscrew which is both!!

I had 255/275 tyres before (albeit on 19@ wheels) and I much prefer the balance with the 265 rears through the really fast corners, keeps the car very neutral, through low speed tight corners the rear can struggle to keep up with the front though. Damper adjustment can dial that out but can also start to introduce understeer so I tend to leave it as it's how I like it to be honest.

I'm sure when the dates are good for me to join you for a drive out you can jump in and have a sample and see what you think.

Hard to say........as always though its the chassis and brakes that make the biggest difference's and result in faster lap times. The subframe bushes made big difference over stock mushy items as did the recent SPL bump steer correction tie rod ends I've been banging on about a bit. Ditching the huge, heavy dual mass flywheel helps with engine response quite a lot too. Obviously the big ticket parts like the MCS dampers are superb especially given the spring rates are double what my old Bilsteins were and it gives a more compliant ride when dialed down. The AP brakes are lot more powerful than the stock Brembo's, much more so than I thought they would be to be honest. Even installing bucket seats is a huge mod as you can feel so much more through your bum which enables you to drive and push everything harder.

If its just engine mods.......hard to say as I did everything at once and gained around 30Hp in the process. The cams are definitely essential at changing the way it delivers the power now. It pulls so much harder from 3500-4000rpm all the way to 7500rpm rather than falling on its ar*e at 6800ish, but to maximise on the cams I installed the PPE manifolds and had the porting and profiling work done on the heads so I can't really say on one thing alone

What was your best lap time for the Anglesey Coastal layout?

  7. Had an issue with the BC Coilovers knocking going over bumps on the offside rear, took it off and re-assemble the strut, which cured it, hopefully it would be useful for anyone who had the same problem with noisy coilovers.

  8. Alright guys read a few threads re people suffering from clunking/metallic rattling noise coming from the rear after installing coilovers, the problem is on the rear coilovers doesn't come with a strut gasket therefore metal on metal creating rattling noise when over bumps, my friend help me to fix it tonight by sticking a piece of dynamat on top of the strut and please to say it works and no more rattling noise now.

You can get a piece of dynamat for a few quid on eBay, cut a square piece roughly the size of the strut top, cut a cross in the middle,  use the sticky side onto actual strut, then cut around the shape of the strut cover, re-install and enjoy the peace and quiet over bumps.

  9. Was just looking through my inbox seeing what parts I've replaced/upgraded over the years, and just couldn't believe how all the traders on here help so much.

Unlike many others who only seem to take money off you, every single trader I've spoken to on here was ready to give advice and gone beyond the normal customer service, when I first bought my 350Z I was disappointed to find one of the rear lens had a crack on it after I got it home, R35LEE offered to send me one FOS, what a great gesture that was, also Mitz who upgraded my postage to FedEx fos for the Cobra exhaust as I couldn't wait to replace the loud droney broken OEM exhaust, Zmanalex and Clark Performance for all other advices re the running and servicing, Abbey Motorsport for their advice on alignment settings. Good to know there's a good bunch on here to help us looking after our pride and joys. Keep up the good works guys

  10. Picked up another bargain, a set of Whiteline anti roll bars came up for sale near me for a bargain price of £150, the car rides well and handles well now, couldn't be more happier, there's a few more things I'd like to do down the line which includes a Kazz LSD and 3.9FD, but for now I think it's finished, bar the Nismo front splitter I have in the box still to be fitted, but I may sell it and get the mines lips instead, but for now it has got to more or less how I wanted it.

  11. Suspension time! After having coilovers on previous cars which was far too hard for our roads here I gone for a set of BC BR Coilovers with 8/6kg spring rate rather than the usual 10/8kg, as last thing I want is bouncy ride which totally ruins the car, as I figure I want the car to ride well and if I were to control the roll I would just upgrade the anti roll bars anyway. So a trip to Area Motorsport to install the coilovers, driftworks camber arms, SPC toe bolts and SPL lockout kit together with setting the alignment and rolling the rear arches.

The car rides unbelievably well, just feels like a well set up car to live with compare to hard crashy rides associated with modded cars, would highly recommend 8/6kg spring rates for anyone looking to upgrade their suspensions!

  12. Clutch was beginning to slip at 90k miles so a quick order from Clarke Motorsport got myself sorted out with a Xtreme Orgainc clutch and lighten flywheel, also been waiting for some new wheels and decided on some Rota MXR in 10x18 et7 and 11x18 et12, got lucky with them as I saw a pair of 10x18 2nd hand for sale quite locally and then a month later a pair of 11x18 pop up nearby! Result! Got them refurb and powdered coated in Satin Bronze which goes well with the black paintwork.

New wheels meant new tyres, I wanted a square set up, but at the same time I don't want to upset the VDC as I leave that on for cold rainy days on the motorway so I settle on 255/35/18 and 265/35/18s, this was going to be a gamble as I can't find anything concrete on whether that size runs well with the VDC, but happily it pays off as the car runs fine with those tyre size.

I wanted tyres that are more focus and didn't want soft sidewalls and don't turn to mush after a few laps, so that rule out the popular MPSS, originally wanted to get the Yokohama AD08R but looking further into it there's some rave reviews on Nangkang NS2R, the yokos cost nearly twice as much and I don't think I'm chasing every last second so I thought I'd try them out! Seems great to me at the price and wraps around the wheels perfectly, just a little bit of stretch but not too much and fill those arches well once lowered! But looked like a lifted zed with the OEM suspension.
