  1. Did they actually let you take one out or did they insist you also buy one before you drive it?!?!
  2. Yeah cheers. I always forget how that sounds., particularly as I used to work in a prison aswell so generally use terms like the above and 'when I was in prison'. Not bad for a copper!!
  3. Its just been taken away I have to drive it onto the main road for the guy (circ 20/30 m) and it didnt crab and the TC/ESP lights werent on........Rear wheel only looks slightly squiffy now aswell. Is it mending itself??? Hoping its not that bad as every time I see it it looks less serious. Well I now have to wait for Gladwins to inspect and report back......roll on 2013........ha! Im just lucky the wife breaks up from school in 2 weeks and im on a leave ban until September so they will have a whole summer to fix it as I cant enjoy it
  4. It wasnt me that crashed it. That rogue squirral you are talking about started pouring ACME grease onto the road as I merrily trundled around the corner........ I went back yest on the way to work and where the water has started (had started) to dry it showed that the edge of the road (1-1.5 ft in) has broken up and disappeared. It is no more than really fine silt and stones. All I can imagine is with all the rain the verge has drained onto the road and the tarmac has been royally chewed by farm traffic leaving that road recently Everyone is talking about the RE's but it was the 452's that kicked out as they are on the rear. Got to be fair I drove tht road back this morning in the wifes Grand Vitara and it was a little twitchy. I could feel the lack of grip just after the apex of the corner so there is something there. Also it does look like someone else may have done the same by the marks on the verge......... F'inking lorries taking shortcuts destroying roads and farmers driving down the road rather than using their field........................
  5. Unfortunately I am as the RE's are almost new.
  6. I have 452's and being just worn in at under 30mph with minimal throttle id expect ditchfinders to cope to be fair.
  7. There was just simply no room to catch the slide. The road narrows as the corner straightens and there is a bank inches to your left. The back kicking out meant it literally hit the bank before I had time to put my foot in and turn the wheel. Had maybe half a second between it kicking and then hitting the bank. Im taking solice from the fact im confident that I could not have corrected that if I was given the opportunity a hundred times over. It was a case of it was going to happen regardless of what I did. The law of sod follows me round like a bad smell. Just gutted now. Ill try and get a few pics tomorrow if I get a chance before it goes away to Zed Hospital. Wife is being awful nice and is offering to donate some of her savings towards my new brakes once my baby is back on the road.
  8. Standard pre facelift wheels. 18 inches on the back. Can only think TC didnt kick in as it wasnt through a power issues as almost nothing was going through the wheels. It was literally enough to push it round the corner as I was trundling like an old biddy really. Can I just say thanks to all that have tried to help guys.
  9. Just wait till I get to work........I cant see the lads being nice about it. Think ill be subjected to driving the van for a few weeks......
  10. My excess in £500 with protected NCB. Im using them as for £500 id rather the job done properly and in depth. he paint costs alone will be closer to £500 before I look at the mechanical damage so it makes sense. Only doo doo is I took off court. car last year...................... Problem I have is I got hit by a lorry 5 years ago too. So thats 2 accidents in 10 years. The wife has never had any. Shes been great so far but im waiting for it...................... Yes my Zed is my daily too......
  11. Im big enough to say it was partly driver error as i was controlling the car. If it happened another 100 times though I still would have ended up the same so genuinely dont think its my ham fisted driving. Anyone want to swap cars for a bit???
  12. Falkens on the rear, 1000 miles of driving on them so should be pretty sweet. Yes its my first owned powerful rear driver. Im trained to a decent standard but my work only uses front wheel drive. I understand what your getting at but I hardly put any power into it. Ive put a lot more through the rears in worse conditions than that so although its 'driver error' it wasnt through idiocy.
  13. It drove fine, it was just very slippy and crabby. No odd or mechanincal noises so hope its not too poorly. Im so so upset!! I have taken that corner at double the speeds in far worse cars (legally I might add for work) and never had an issue.
  14. Well...........one month and I ditched it! F*ing great. Trundling home from work, was a bit slippy and had been stuck behind a few lorries so thouh F it I cant be bother, turned up the stereo and bumbled my way back. Same way I have driven for god knows how long. Know the road and driving nice and sedately. Came to a 80% 30mph right hander, dropped into 2nd at about 30 (maybe a tad less)turned in and as I got to the apex of the corner I touched the throttle to drive out of the corner and the back end just gave out. No warning, nothing. Road is fairly narrow and is about a foot wider than the Zed for each way. Road is verged immediately by inconsistant low soft verges and overhanding trees. Back end slipped, TC didnt kick in and I caughtthe gap between the verges which has forced my pass rear wheel slightly underneath the car. Its now sitting a further 10-15% inverted. This bounced me back and I clipped the curb the other side before over correcting ever so slightly and catching the branches hanging into the carriageway. TC didnt but I suppose it was out of order after the bump on the verge? 3 alloys scuffed, lots of scratches to the pass side, rear wheel well and truely messed up. Pride absolutely in bits. It drove home (about 8 miles) but is crabbing awfully. No noises or anything like that. TC and EBS lights are now permenantly illuminated and cant turn them off (suppose that is just because of the issues with the rear?) There does not seem to be any bodywork issues as far as I can see other than needing a pass side respray. Looking underneath is appears that the wishbone is broken but I am not mechanicaly sound enough to know anymore other than theres a lot of mud and grass under there considering my rear was maybe a foot off the carriageway for 2 seconds maximum. It was also reassuring to see that the car following me slowed down to watch me finish fishtailing and recover before speeding off at pace without so much as an 'are you ok'. Not sure if I hit derv (couldnt see any on inspection) standing water (only a few shallow puddles) a greasy white line or just unlucky. As it happened I was litterally saying to myself out loud how much I love my car!!!! Then........ http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?q=Upwell,+Cambridgeshire&hl=en&ll=52.580563,0.216309&spn=0.001305,0.004128&sll=53.800651,-4.064941&sspn=10.405166,33.815918&oq=upwell,+ca&hnear=Upwell,+Norfolk,+United+Kingdom&t=m&z=19&layer=c&cbll=52.580586,0.216525&panoid=5phpV7oKYcXVQVOL2sKbYg&cbp=12,268.74,,0,4.5 Thats the corner in question. It double apexes ever so slightly. I can only assume that the road issue is a combination of me being unlucky and something 'farmer joe' has left down while leaving his little dirt track. Please have some sympathy for me and any help with regards to what I need to ask Gladwins to look at will be appreciated.
  15. More importantly OP.......you didnt go to junction 17 cars in the end did you???
  16. I changed from an Fiesta ST to the Zed so had a bit of a scrabbler myself. Over uneven roads ATM I can say I would have been apexing a bit faster in the ST (I think a lot of it is to do with confidence) but on a good road when things feel right then the Zed is in a world of its own in comparison. I always used to play with EP3's and although they were marginally quicker in reality there was nothing in it in my experiences despite the power/0-62 differences so I feel im in a position to comment. For everything the press say the Fiesta was a cracking little car. Quick enough, good brakes, nice chassis but always should have had an extra 20bhp as standard. I drove the ST after I had been in the Zed for 2 weeks, and I hated it. It felt slow, not particularly planted and the balance felt off. Would I go back now? Definately not. I dont think you will regret the purchase.
  17. The 'feeling' wuicker will be a lot to do with the FI Boost as N/A engine are generally so linear....
  18. Yes I have. Check out a thread a month old about them...........I put on my experience where they basically kicked me out of the showroom so I bought elsewhere.

    MP4-12C

WHAT???? SOMETHING IS FASTER THAN A CORSA?!?!?! Have you never been on the VXR forum???? The MP4 would have been mutilated by a stage 2!!!!

    MP4-12C

Well it will hold its own against all but the hyper hatches. I know its not really slow (or an F1 car). It was a bit tongue in cheerk just how fast the MP4 is. When hammering along in your Zed its hard to imagine something going past you like your old doris doing 15mph in a 40! Puts performance cars into a real perspective.

    MP4-12C

Got told off by the wife today coming home. I was buzzed by an MP4 on the way home and just wanted to try and follow it to look and admire.........I think thats fair??? God it was nice in the metal I also felt like I was in a mini MPV following it I was that much taller. They really are very low to the ground. I didnt realise just how much. He then squirted the loud peddal! The Zed is a VERY slow car Its amazing how a relatively quick car like the zed gets turned into a wallowing bus of a vehicle by these things. First one I have ever seen and hope its not the last. Was truely amazing!
  22. Robster.....I would be very surprised if it was traffic that attended to talk to you. It is VERY unlikely any action will be taken against her and any police decision will not really influence the insurances decision to pay out. She will probably have some WOA given. The police will just decide wether to prosecute or not. You will need to push your insurance HARD in order to get and money towards repair if that is something you wanted to do and you would be luck to get anything other than a 50/50. I cant give you the 'they will do this or that' but if you want to drop me a PM ill happily go through the proceedure with you before the bobbies knock on your door.(yes I am one but not in your area)
  23. This really doesnt sound good at all. Really sorry I cant help more than say I really hope you get this sorted. Someone had to ask I suppose
  24. Is it ticking or clicking when you try to start it up? Have you tried jump starting it? To my limited knowledge it sounds and awful lot like starter motor related issues?!?!
  25. Well the Falken 452d are on the rear. Just waiting for them to 'come in' now so I can see the grip they produce. I did light them up earlier to try and aid the process though Even with circ. 100 miles on them the TC light seems far less inclined to say hello. From those that are in the know I have read that they require slightly higher pressures than the BS040's but cant find an ideal psi. Im currently running them at 34. Any advice?
