  1. Hi! Long shot, but I don't suppose the third kit is still available...?
  2. I wonder which size I had on my car then. With the second set I tried sliding the hose about through the loosened p-clips and couldn't find a position where it wouldn't rub on full lock. If I shunted it to not rub on full left lock, it would rub on full right lock, and vice versa. It certainly seemed like the hose was a bit long, but I'm no expert at fitting brake lines. Interesting that you say the issue only started after a while, that's exactly what I had. I reckon it's down to the rubber on the cheapo p-clips perishing over time and allowing the hoses to move. I just hope the hosetechniks solve this.
  3. I think the two brands that follow the original routing are Goodrich and Hosetechnik, but I could be wrong about that. I needed to get my new ones in a hurry so got the Hosetechnik ones from Clark Motorsport who post on this forum. Possibly the bigger question is whether there is really any point in braided hoses. This is the first time I have tried them and I don't think I noticed any significant difference. Certainly not a difference to justify the cost and hassle they have caused!
  4. There's quite a bit of info on the forum, some horror stories and probably plenty of happy customers too. For me, they were fine for 20,000 miles and if I'd been near the garage that fitted them, they new ones would probably still be okay. For me, I sometimes take my car on long trips and a hose rubbing on a wheel on a long motorway trip could see it wear through completely. The hoses themselves seemed fine, but I'm not keen on the way they mount to the car.
  5. Ah too late! Already placed the order with Nissan, I'm afraid :-( Don't have any pics of the HELs, but when they were put on, a few little bits went in the bin which I need to go back to stock (or stock-style) hoses. Not that you asked, but I'm not sure I could really recommend the HELs. They were fitted on mine and were fine for 20,000 miles, but then the rubber in the little p-clips perished or overheated and the lines moved and chafed against the wheels. Result is MOT-failing damaged hoses. I wrote to HEL about it and they were pretty good, sending me a new set of hoses, but the garage that fitted them weren't careful enough with the fitting and managed to chafe the hoses on wheels on their test drive, knackering the new lines! After that, I just decided I couldn't be doing with the fuss of hoses that I have to keep inspecting to see if they're getting damaged, so back to the stock routing for me. Fit and forget. I hope.
  6. Thought this might be the response! No matter, I've ordered the bits from Nissan and am now playing the waiting game...
  7. Hi Due to changing my HEL hoses to Hosetechnik, I am now searching for a pair of the standard front brake hose brackets to secure the hoses correctly to the dampers. Replacement parts from Nissan have a one-month lead time, so thought I'd try on here first. I'm sure a lot of people will have some lying around after changing to braided hoses. It's items 28 and 29 on the parts drawing here: Please, if anyone has a pair of these that they would like rid of, do let me know! Cheers, Ewan
  8. Just to finish, the dampers are all sold and delivered. Thanks for the interest.
  9. Thanks Keyser, always someone helpful and knowledgeable nearby on this forum :-) The dampers are now provisionally sold...
  10. Can't say for sure, but I expect they'd fit. I'm sure there are plenty of people round here who would know for certain. The FAQ doesn't mention any suspension changes between 05 and 06 model years: http://www.350z-uk.com/topic/3856-2006-model-changes/
  11. As these will be a bit of a faff for me to box and post, my lowest price is £40 delivered. I have now opened these up to be free for local collection. I'll leave it like this for a couple of days before I make my trip to the tip Final prices: £40 delivered £0 collected
  12. Okay, so not much interest so far! I need to get rid of these, so if there's no interest in another week or two, it'll be down to the tip for them :-( Opening it up now to offers. Ideal for anyone looking to return a car to standard for sale. In a perfect world I'd keep hold of them for that exact reason, but unfortunately I need the space so they have to go Any takers?
  13. Hi all I am selling the four standard Nissan dampers which came off my 2006 350Z coupe. All four are in good condition, no leaks or damage. Some tiny spots of surface rust, but nothing to worry about, I only took them off to upgrade to Bilsteins. The dampers have done 71,000 miles. I will list them at £15 each or £50 for the set. Local collection from North Somerset would be preferred, but I should be able to post them if required. Looks like postage would be £10 for one damper and as far as I can tell, still £10 for up to four all bundled together. If you have any questions or want more/higher res pictures, do drop me a message. Cheers Ewan Here are some photos of the dampers:
  14. Just to stick another update on here for Bilstein B6 with standard springs/ARB/everything else in the suspension. I drove across one of my 'regular' fast bumpy roads over the mendips the other day. This was one of the roads that convinced me the stock suspensions was not up to scratch. The car used to bounce around all over the place and it really felt like a battle keeping it on the road. With the Bilsteins on, it was transformed. The car stayed nice and level and well controlled, almost as if the road had been re-laid. This is what I was looking for from the change: better damping and body control over bumpy country roads. It was a good thing I had this drive as I was starting to wonder if the new ride stiffness around town was a little too much. Overall, I am still pleased with the change, but would recommend anyone considering it to try and get a ride in a car with them fitted. I certainly wouldn't want any more ride stiffness for the amount of road driving I do.
  15. Thanks to Ian, got my boot divider the other day. Fits perfectly, looks OEM, easy to remove, couldn't be happier with it! Great product
  16. Sorry I didn't get it up earlier! I think you should be pleased with yours
  17. Sorry guys, I've been overseas a lot and not really driven the car properly with the B6's installed. Put a few thousand miles on it in the last weeks, so here's my update at last: My general impression of the B6's is that if Nissan had offered a 'Sport Suspension' over the standard setup, this is how it would feel. I'm pleased with the setup, it is noticeably firmer than standard in terms of pitch/dive under acceleration and stability under braking, as well as direction changes. The occasional slightly underdamped sensation at the rear over rolling undulations at speed does remain, but it's much better than standard. I only notice it on bad backroads now, rather than on the motorway like before. Also, the most noticeable thing for me, even at around 30mph, was the response to the steering. With the standard suspension, you can feel a small amount of compression in the suspension before the car changes direction. With the B6's, this is gone at normal road speeds, the car just moves as soon as you turn the wheel. Makes the car feel lighter on its feet. Perhaps the same amount of body roll still occurs (I think that's the how it works, in theory), but the speed with which is rolls is reduced, so the sensation is much less noticeable. The downsides to all this is, of course, that the ride is stiffer. Around town potholes and sunken drain covers are a bit more annoying. Difficult to quantify how much more than standard. For me, it's entirely acceptable, but if you never left town centres, I'm sure it would get wearing. But then, if you never left town centres, you probably wouldn't be in the market for uprated dampers. Part of this increased stiffness at the rear shows itself in small lateral 'hops' over bumps. And not just in corners, but going over, say, a stone on the motorway, the rear end will feel like it hops an inch to one side. This has never caused a skid or triggered the stability, but I feel it should be mentioned as I don't remember it before the change. Certainly makes the car feel more focussed. I can only compare this setup (standard springs and B6 dampers) with standard springs and dampers, I haven't been in a 350Z with coilovers or any other setup. Overall I'm certainly pleased with the change, and I'm glad I didn't go for anything stiffer. Haven't taken the car on track yet, so can't comment on that side of things. I don't come onto the forum regularly, so if anyone has any questions or wants to go for a ride, just drop me a PM.
  18. Thanks to Zeezeebaba for letting me hear his Milltek yesterday. I have now placed my order and will be joining the Milltek club soon
  19. Cheers Lewis, that sounds a bit much for now. Bet the headers make a difference there. Zeezee, what system have you got?
  20. Oh, and offers of similar exhausts gratefully received
  21. Hi all Just a call out for anyone running a Milltek exhaust near Bristol/North Somerset that wouldn't mind taking me for a spin in their car. My exhaust is falling off and it's a bit too noisy for me now, confirming I want a quietish exhaust. But then, when the standard one was healthy, I always thought it was too quiet... Any help much appreciated! Cheers Ewan
