  1. Cheers guys Yeah there was a few red flags in the morning which was very frustrating but on a circuit like that I think its safe to say thats gonna be the way it is. Shame you had your failure cos by the afternoon all the usual suspects who cause these red flags had all crashed, broken down or given up and there was plenty of space and you could have a whole session of clear lapping. Be great to see some vids of the car, where will you be posting them Will? Does sound good from the inside, especially with some aggressive heel n toeing!! But I've never heard it from outside before.
  2. Although brief, was nice to meet a few of you n say hello "during one of those morning red flags!" yesterday, sorry to here about your BMW woes. Maybe its a sign that you should get the window sticker in the 370 for the next one Will?! Had a great day in my Zed yesterday. what a track Cadwell is, will definitely be returning there again as its definitely the most exciting n challenging circuit in the UK I've been on with so many blind apex's n crests all needing some full comittment to string a good lap together and get quicker n quicker through the day. Was just a shame my Bro (in the Vxr220) ended his (and everyone elses) final session with a red flag, a blown charge cooler and a £500 recovery bill back to Surrey...... Good luck for Rockingham and maybe I'll bump into you guys on events in the future Martin
  3. HaydnH, I'm in Camberley, Surrey........that any good for collecting?
  4. Its MOT time!! Does anyone have or can any traders get hold of the above please? Post or PM price and availability please Cheers, Martin
  5. True and Evo MR's come on Bilstein/Eibach combo.......Its a great setup for fast road use There's no problem though as Bilstein have the option of B6 damper for stock springs/ride height and shorter B8 for use with lowered springs. Its amazes me how many people do it the other way round and run lowered springs on std shocks! Must be an awful setup No probs, nice to know someone shares my way of thinking. I was just the same in wanting to improve the car with out taking away it being a really good, capable and comfortable road car. You can fit the Eibach ARB's anytime..........they do work very well though and would recommend them
  6. Hi Ewan, I was in exactly the same thinking as you and came to same idea! I fitted the B6 dampers with standard springs to my car, which had done under 50k at the time so the originals probably weren't too tired and the difference is huge. I did fit them at the same time as Eibach anti roll bars and few bushes so my car changed quite a bit so couldn't say in handling terms how much of an improvement they will offer on their own but they will no doubt improve it but from just damping terms and ride quality alone the B6's made a notable difference, they're slightly firmer over stock but dont crash over bumps and potholes they actually soke them up better and theres none of the judder through the chassis after hitting bumps at speed either as I found with the stock items. They are really top quality too with all the clips n pick ups for the brake hoses etc too. I've done few thousand miles on these, couple of track days and a trip to the Nurburgring so I think I've given them a fairly thorough test for you..........You wont be disappointed. As mentioned above most go for coilovers but in my opinion and it is only my opinion that the cheaper £1000-£1500 coilovers are not good enough at actually being suspension they're just too hard n crashy. The B6 with std springs or if you wanna go lower the B8 with Eibach springs and to better that you need to spend some money and go to something like Ohlins DFV (which I have owned on an Evo and is absolutely fantastic and worth every penny!!) would n hopefully will be the route I'd go. Hope that helps and would be interesting to know if you agree when you've got them fitted Some pics
  7. Cheers Pete, I have had the weights come off wheels before so I always tape them on after I've had them balanced up
  8. Thanks for your replies Siman: Geo was done about a year and only 6000k ago, I've been wanting to get it done anyway so might give it a go, to rule out if nothing else.... but vibration due to geo being very slightly out is not something I've come across myself before. You say yours feels great now, did you have vibration etc before yourself then? Attak: I'm hoping not due to cost, but the fact the vibration varies made me suspect poss ball joint as loads change across the car so does the vibration
  9. Evening Guys n Girls, Just thought I'd ask on here for your opinions. At speeds above 80mph I get some vibration through the steering wheel which is very annoying, it does the same on different sets of wheels, Ive done compression arm bushes, its had new wheel bearings and although these have improved it, its still there (possibly getting worse) and really bugs me especially as I'm doing more motorway driving these days!! I suspect you're all gonna say its the compression arm ball joint (and I suspect it is too) but all the reading and searching I've done on here would suggest it would give a knock or rattle when failed/failing, I don't have any noises at all though! The feel through the wheel is just like the wheels are out of balance, its does go completely for a time but 95% of the time its there and driving me nuts.......anyone had the same and found changing the arms cured the problem.......Help me!? Many thanks, Martin
  10. Arran, not far at all. Its nice when you get to that point where a cars where you want it Well I shall see if these take the edge off (plus hopefully add a bit of torque) as I've ordered a pair of ART pipes today. Cheers for everyones comments on this
  11. Cheers for that, found it and had a read and a listen, got some really nice mods on your car a few I'd like to do myself too You must be fairly local to me from the places you're going around, I'm in Frimley so I'll keep my eyes out for you
  12. I'm not a massive user of forums so I've no idea where I'd even start looking for someones journal? If you've got a link or let me know where to look that would be great Cheers
  13. Cheers for the info Arran, I'm thinking a pair of ART pipes are the way to go for my setup then
  14. Cheers for your replies Arran, whats the rest of your exhaust setup? GT4 Zed, I don't think anything will make a K1 noticeably quieter! Did you run the straight decats and the ART pipes with your Miltek or only with the K1?
  15. Following on from my last thread about controlling my volume to be track day friendly. Has anyone gone from running straight through decats to the motordyne ART pipes? What sort of reductions in volume do these offer? I know they are expensive but so is getting thrown off track days!!
  16. Reading "Fitted: Berk decats | Motordyne XYZ pipe | custom 3" straight through mid pipe | Nismo backbox" I'm not surprised
  17. Cheers for all the comments people But having the resonated xyz does make a big difference. When I only had the decats fitted with std system it was louder and a harsh noise too, not nice at all. Or maybe it just senses 98db's from a point a good distance from track because its only drive by limit no static testing but I've no idea where the sensor for noise are placed. My old decatted evo with blitz nur spec exhaust used to run around with the bung out with no problems but sometimes it seems some engine notes register high on Db scale when they dont sound loud and vise versa, Its a tough one! As people have mentioned I think I'll try and get my hands on some noise testing gear and take some readings, donington is 150miles away for me so I dont fancy turning round and going home again after 1 session
  18. I'm booked on to my next track day at donington in August and I'm a bit concerned if I will breach the drive by limit of 98Db's with my new set up. Car has straight Berk decats and xyz y pipe with resonator fitted (with standard system fitted, the note changed but not a lot louder I didnt think) I have recently added the tanabe medallion touring system said to be 93Db's but possibly a bit more with the extra mods (but 5Db's!? When the volume doubles every 3db's roughly). Sadly I dont have any noise testing equipment to test it out myself I'd like to get comments only from people who actually do track days with their cars if they could post what exhaust set ups they run and whether you have any issues at circuits? Just to gauge if I may/may not have any issues with mine I'm assuming the nismo system is around the 93Db mark so if anyone is running decats with that do you have any problems? As a note, I honestly cant believe I can drive on public road to a circuit that has a busy airport next to it, that is situated directly underneath the flight path and then have to worry if I'm too noisy to drive around it!! The councils that enforce these rules are truly not all there Thanks in advance
  19. Thanks again for your comments It is a great shot, love the bend the lense gives it Definitely not much travel left thumping over the joins on the way round! Such a great corner, looking up out the top of the windscreen for the exit just makes it all the more nuts
  20. Cheers for the positive comments Cheers! Thanks for sorting those wheel bearings, made the 1100mile trip and my time upto and at 150mph much more comfortable I spent some time admiring that car, very very nice indeed! The Spec C's are the ones to have eh
