  1. Ah, I know you! I drive past you everyday on my way to work! I only just managed to get off the hardgate when I finished work then got trapped for 10 minutes on willow bank road. I then got stranded on a roundabout on union Grove, 2 people required to push me. A hundred yards later, I got stuck approaching the roundabout in the drive, caused a massive hold up, but eventually 4 angry people pushed me free Haha! It wasn't then 45 just to get over the drive to bucksburn! Amazingly, I seen 3 other zeds on the drive this morning, I don't usually see any! I just had no grip on my falken 453s,whereas my old RE040s with no tread ate up the snow around Xmas! Did you go out at all today?
  2. Another brave soul out in the snow! I hope you didn't see me stuck on union Grove?! It took 4 people to push me out! How did you get on today? Cheers for the toot, got my eyes back on the road again!
  3. Thanks for your response mate. I did have a rattle caused by vibrations at the heat shields, bending the heat shields slightly was enough to solve this. I have another rattle somewhere around the centre of the car and it's only when I drive over rougher ground that I can hear it. Since the roads are so bad, that's pretty much every road I drive on! The garage talked about blasting it with a torch to bend the pipe, bit this won't stop the excessive movement and any future blows I would imagine. I guess I'll just have to get booked in again and see how it goes!
  4. Hey folks, Recently got a cobra cat back and y-pipe installed and had no issues. I then got a pair of cobra decats fitted which I only kept for a week because they were too loud! During that week, I did notice a rattle coming from around the centre of the car. This rattle continued when I swapped the cobra decats for an unbranded silenced decats. I've been back to the garage twice now but the rattle continues. The second time I went was because there was a significant blow coming from the front right decat and where the y-pipe meets the cat back. The blow was fixed but this proved to be only temporarily and I have a feeling this is being caused by the rattle. The garage told me there's no a lot they can do and is likely because if the lack of support from the decats. I'm not convinced and want this sorted out for good. I was going to suggest to the garage to take the exhaust off and start from scratch but was hoping others have had similar experiences and can share some advice. Not only is this annoying, it's also a bit embarrassing! Thanks

    Silenced Decats

They came in a horsham developments box, covered in horsham development wrapping and tape, so I don't think so... i was referring to the ones that went for £70. they looked like japspeed And it was me that bought them for £82.50 delivered. I'm not sure if they were japspeed but they were certainly unbranded. I personally would have preferred to have went for these and paid a but extra because I've already been back to the garage twice since fitting as at first I had a rattle against the heat shield then a leak! I am by no means complaining against the seller in case anyone thinks I am as I knew they were cheap replacements, just letting people know you get what you pay for!
  6. Now sold. Mods - please close thread, thanks.
  7. I just removed my cobra decats after 200 miles with a set of silenced ones I bought off the forum. Paired with a cobra ypipe and back box, I genuinly damaged my hearing. For over a week now my hearing is all muffled and I have a major case of tinnitus! I absolutely loved the sound driving round town and it seriously turned heads. I actually liked the raspy tone the decats gave but I just couldn't live with the drone at motorway speeds, it gave me a headache after 10 minutes! The cheap silenced decats I got have just turned the car back to normal, its as if i've put the cats back in. I now have to drive with the window down to really enjoy the sound. In saying that, ive only done about 7 miles so far with the silenced decats so im sure the tone will change with time! For the record, I was charged 1.5 hours labour (£72) when replacing the cats and then an hours labour for changing the decats with silenced ones (£40 cash in hand!).
  8. Now sold, will be posted Monday/Tuesday. Mods please close, thanks.
  9. No worries mate, I'll let you know Monday if it falls through.
  10. Bump Gonna have a set of cobra decats with only 200 miles on them coming up soon. Just need to get them off the car first!
  11. Reserved till Monday for wolfie.irl
  12. As per title, around 6 months old, bought new from Zmanalex. Taken out my car following a remap so surplus to requirement. As this is the newest version, im looking for £90 delivered.
  13. Didn't try and ecu reset, in the process of getting a remap so was just gonna get the CEL switched off! I do now have a ringing sound in my left ear, I'm thinking these might just be a bit too loud!
  14. Brand new pair of o2 simulators for sale. Bought these from Zmanalex to go on with my decats but now getting a remap so surplus to requirement. Zmanalex charges £26 delivered for these, i'll let them go for £20 posted.
  15. Just had a pair of these fitted this afternoon. Supplied by CS and fitted by my local garage. For 2 pieces of metal, they certainly are attractive! The noise they make when paired with a Cobra resonated system is simply mind blowing! These will probably be too loud for most sensible people, but if you are after noise, these are exactly what you need! My exhaust really grumbles at lower rpm but rasps like hell when you put your foot down. These will also dramatically reduce your mpg too as I just found out. I was getting a nice 12mpg after filling up this evening, but only because of my driving style so I could hear the noise! At 70mph in 3rd, the misus put put her hands over her face as she thought we were going much faster than we were! And to answer the CEL question, I got the warning on the dash after about an hour or so of driving. Remap coming up in the coming weeks so that will soon be sorted.
  16. Hi Mark, Sent you a PM in regards to this but haven't had a response yet. Did you get my message? Cheers
  17. Turns out the noise was leaking cats so just contacted CS for a pair of cobra decats! My mechanic was stumped on the engine cutting out and has just said to keep an eye on things as the motor is running and sounding fine!
  18. I only purchased the goods from him, we're a few hundred miles apart unfortunately! Car sounded fine this morning but didnt get a chance to have a good listen due to a pretty heavy rain shower. I must admit that when I switched the engine off when I arrived home, it almost sounded like my exhaust had a slight blow. I'll need to look into this further. Thanks for the help so far guys.
  19. Thanks for your response folks. Yeah I do have the standard cats fitted and it did cross my mind if there would be some sort of blockage in the exhaust somewhere. My car just passed its MOT a few weeks back and obviously that included the emissions test. If the cats were failing, do you not think it would show up in the test? If it is the cats that are the problem, am I still alright to drive? Need to get back to work tonight before the garage opens on Thursday! As per my first post, no warning lights at all on the dash. Just away to drive home from work now, gonna check to see if the knocking noise is obvious on a cold start. Just a thought, ive read others suffering from sudden power loss when fitting the post 06' led tail lights. The cause of this as I understand is due to the ECU picking up voltage issues. Whilst i do have the standard tail lights, my number plate lights were changed prior to my MOT as they will flickering. The garage said that they were led lights, but he changed them to standard bulbs. I know its unlikely, but do you think this could be a possible cause?
  20. Hey folks, have run into a few issues with my 53' zed with 69k on the clock recently. Before I start, i'll make you aware that ive recently had a new cobra resonated exhaust and y-pipe fitted and a basic service with all servicing goods purchased from CS. First of all, I have noticed a change in exhaust tone over the last few weeks. I know with a new exhaust, the build up in carbon will change the note slightly. The other day when I was in a shopping centre car park though, I noticed quite a dramatic change. The car sounded a bit less aggressive and almost a bit choked up. I still had my fun in the car park though, enjoying the echo when i put my foot down! It wasn't until on my way home, I came off a roundabout in second and gunned it up the dual carridgeway. The ground was sligtly damp so I expected the wheels to spin a bit and the TC to kick in. Just as I was near the red line, i felt what I thought was the TC, so I changed up to 3rd only to realise that I had lost all power. Whenever I put my foot on the throttle, there was no response and the car made a sort of bogged down kinda noise. I rolled to halt, put the clutch in only to fine the engine had cut out. I turned the key almost immediately and the car started and drove fine all the way home. I took it easy at first but later tried to recreate the problem by gunning it but all was well. No warning lights or anything on the dash to note. Tonight on my way to work, I noticed that the exhanust note sounded different like I first noticed in the car park. Its definely not as loud as my exhaust should be and I can only describe it as a chocked up kind of sound! I tried gunning it a few times in first and second to see if the engine would cut out but all was well. I dont seem to have lost any power or anything else noticable, the car just seems to run fine. When I stopped at work and was sitting at idle, I did notice a slight knocking noise. I got out the car and had a listen and its definely coming from underneath, probably near the front/middle of the car. The noise certainly has a rythm to it and doesnt increase with the revs. The best I can describe it is it almost sounds like a diesel! I intend on taking the car to the garage on Thursday for a quick once over but was hoping it may sound fimiliar to you guys so I have a bit of knowledge when I go! Thanks
  21. Just got mine fitted too, looks fantastic and the garage said it was an easy fit. A tad disappointed with the sound, I was getting used to my the sound of my blowing oem and this is just so much quieter, wish I went for the non-resonated now. Still sounds good though with a nice deep growl at around 2k. Got the exhaust and brakes and pads fitted all round for £144 which im pretty pleased with. Please excuse the crap pictures and the mess of my car, theres no excuse really but the weather has been bad recently EDIT: How rude of me for not saying that I bought all my goods from CS and how is service has been truly exceptional! First time buyer from CS and I will definitely be back again. Communication was spot on and he couldn't have been more helpful from start to finish! I was just out earlier and had the opportunity to really open up my zed and I have to say that the resonated system really does sound good. Its a bit quiet lower down but when opened up, it does sound mental!
  22. I must admit that I am embarrassed to ask this question on here, but I really have no knowledge at all when it comes anything about cars other than driving them! My brakes have been squealing for a while now. I didnt think much of it as a quick google search told me all was required was some copper grease on the pads. The squealing only happened at low speeds like coming to a stop at traffic lights. I noticed tonight however that the brakes were squealing at higher speeds which made me a bit nervous. I had a quick look at the brakes earlier tonight and noticed a slight groove on one of the rears. I rubbed my finger over it and it certainly wasnt deep and felt more raised to be honest! the brake pad did look a bit worn, whereas the rest didnt. I have attached a picture below. Does this mean time to dig deep and give Alex a bell?
  23. Bumping up an old thread here but i've seen a white 04' Zed around the Holburn Street/Willowbank Road area a few times the past few days. Beautiful motor and if the owner wants to trade for my GM i'd be happy to negotiate
