  1. Hi all,

Just after some advice, driving the Zed today as I got to the end of my journey ive noticed an odd noise when pulling away as the clutch engages - sounds like a scratchy/rattly noise. Only seems to happen in 1st/reverse gear. It happens as you finish engaging the clutch, so you can get the car rolling with the clutch partly engaged before it happens. Any ideas what the cause might be?

    Cars on 69500 miles

    Thoughts much appreciated.

    Thanks

I certainly can't live with the Cobra. What sounds better, Militek or stock?

Sorry didn't see this till now.

I think the milltek is probably similar volume to the stock exhaust ?a bit quieter but about the same. Tone is slightly nicer than stock to my ear. Ive toyed with the idea of putting in some HFC for a bit more noise but in the end we enjoy the car as it is so haven't ever bothered

I’m thinking of upgrading my E46 M3 to

one of these. I’ve been summoned to get a

four door saloon or a 4x4.

More details please, pros and cons? :)

Im loving the car, hugely split personality quiet, comfortable, understated place to be when pottering around but at the touch of a button it’s a howling monster and it just chews up the miles. I guess the cons are the potential for serious bills, no way I will run it without a warranty and fuel consumption but I guess coming from the M3 it won’t be much different and let’s be fair no one buys one and worries about the fuel cost :). I’ve never been in an e46 M3 but I would think the M5 has a slightly more detached driving feel, you would need to drive one and see - we still have our Zed so when I want a more...analogue driving experience it’s still there for me.

What would you like to know?

All the ones in this shape I’ve seen are estoril blue and I’m not that keen on them. Too big, looks a bit lairy in blue

This is the first I’ve seen in black and it looks more understated in a good way. Nice buy

Thanks, i was hoping for something a bit understated, absolute first choice would have been grey but the spec was right otherwise. They also almost all seem to come with white interior which I didn’t want

  6. Im always amazed how smooth paint is after a clay bar, like glass. Im a big fan of the touring alloys too, those ones are in serious need of a refurb, corroded like mad inside but feels difficult to justify given theyre on winter duty!

  7. Hi all,

Not posted in here for some  time, mainly because I haven't had the car fully cleaned for some time :) but thought I'd share a quick photo from a couple of weeks ago. No before or during but:

Please ignore the wheels, didn't do them at the time as still had the winters on and they came off later in the week and got cleaned then before getting stored up.

    Full clean was:

Hoovered out, glass cleaned inside, leather cleaned the seats steering wheel etc, interior trim cleaned
    Megs Gold Class Shampoo Clean

    Iron X all over

    Tardis all over

    Fully clayed

    Machine polish with Megs 80

    Black hole

Collonite 476 to finish (2 layers)

    Sealant on the glass

metal polish on the exhaust tips and sealed with 2x layers of chemical guys wheel sealant

Megs Tyre Gel (when the Rays went on :))

    Thanks Ed

  8. I think if we lost ours we would definitely both miss it. When the Mrs had our previous Zed written off there was nothing else she wanted to replace it with but another one, and after 5 years it still puts a smile on both our faces whenever we drive it. At some point it duties as daily driver will no doubt be finished but I don't think we will sell it for a very long time barring some catastrophic failure. In a time of flappy paddles, turbos and electronic steering the Zed will always offer an interesting and enjoyable drive for me :)

  9. I've not really pushed my Z since I've owned it to be honest, but tonight I had two moments where a little bit of poo came out!

First she's definitely not stable at higher motorway speeds. Just didn't feel like it would take even the most gentle bend on the motorway at speed, and just feels...unstable and a bit wallowy.

Then on the way down some faster duel carriage ways I hit a bit of a bend at a good pace but not ridiculous. The back end wobbled like a jelly, and the traction control kicked in!

This does not strike me as normal behaviour and I nearly poo'd my pants to be honest

    Anyone experienced similar?

She's still on standard shocks and springs but I did change all the rear suspension bushes to White Line poly bushes a few months back, with the exception of the ARB bushes. New standard drop links were fitted at the same time as the bushes. Front end is totally standard.

Could this just be worn standard suspension or something more sinister?

Something doesn't sound right, as others have said get your suspension and geo checked over. Ive had the Zed at considerably above UK legal limits on derestricted autobahn with no stability worries going round bends etc. Ive even had a rear tyre blow out on the motorway at the speed limit and managed to keep it in the same lane till I could pull over safely - the car should be very stable...

  10. I was under the impression they were only available on midnight blue cars here in the U.K. When we were looking I saw one for sale with them but the car including the seats was in fairly patchy condition. Much prefer black leather anyhow so all worked out. That said would have bought a midnight blue with the frost seats if it was in good nick.

  11. Much as everyone else has said behind the mirror and run the cable down round the headlining and to the socket, personally I had a second socket wired in so I could still use the front one, gets used to charge the phone etc at times so didn't want to lose it

  12. Ive never had MOT anxiety, only thing that ever comes up is consumables. If you look after the car appropriately service/get it serviced as it should be then very unlikely anything is going to come up at the MOT.

  13. That's exactly it Sargara, if it wasn't for me ringing the warranty company up and asking about the bushes and control arms then I wouldn't be any wiser. But they've told me that they would have been replaced with genuine Nissan arms no quibbles if this extra add on item on my warranty was selected. I've been told by warranty company that every single dealership that they are partnered with, should offer this OEM add on to their customers purchasing a vehicle.

The reason this is on going, is that I was told genuine parts were included with the warranty from Junction 17 but it appears that's not the case, so I'm basically sat here with a warranty that definitely doesn't perform how I was told it does.

Connor, without going into my thoughts on these people again, they are well recorded on the forum! I am sorry you are in this position.

If that's the case surely the warranty company shouldn't offer the policy without the option or did they not tell you about the OEM cover option when it was sold to you, sorry not had a lot of sleep and my brain cant work it out from the thread atm.
