another update, car has been written off by the insurers assessors although they made what i considered to be a very fair offer to write it off and dispose of it for me but also the option to take a cheque for less and get the car back as if it was repaired i could put it back on the road as a cat d, so i now have the assessors report and have decided to buy back the assessors came up with a bill of over £7000!!! due to the fact they wanted a brand new front wheel at almost £900, new door at £650, steering axle, hub and steering rack at over £1300 no wonder so many of these cars are getting written off!!
i have spoken to a local bodyshop and they believe the rear quarter can be repaired and are happy for me to source any parts required and are also more than happy to use 2nd hand parts too saving a fortune over the initial assessment so the car should be with them by the end of the week
as for the parts for the steering, the wheel did take a knock and the steering definately wasn't right but again the bodyshop have told me that they will look to see if there's anything obviously bent or broken and start with that and if need be go from there as i find it hard to believe that the whole steering rack, hub and control arms need replacing
the only thing i'm unsure about now is how do i get my ved refunded? do i just sorn the car? i have e mailed the dvla as i can't find a definite answer on their website and would like to do this by the end of the month as i only renewed this month for the year! any advice from you guys much appreciated as always

Happy birthday
-
Just had a voicemail saying car is beyond economic repair total loss, haven't spoken to them yet to see what happens next but will be looking to buy it back even if just to part out
-
Thank you all again for the quick replies and putting my mind at ease I shall carry on as planned
-
They're taking it to balgores in bury St. Edmonds, I think I'll just carry on as I am it's why I have insurance and they told me it will be at no cost to me plus I have legal protection so if it comes down to it I should be ok

I'm just concerned that I'm about to hand over my pride and joy to a bunch of cowboys who are going to pull my pants down at every opportunity! Everything I've read on the internet is negative as with most things people will only post if they've had issues, I was assured by admiral that this is the procedure for a non fault claim so went with their advice as that's who I pay, the woman from tesco has put doubt in my mind that I should be going through them instead
-
I need some urgent advice guys, I called my insurer admiral on Sunday, told them about the accident they asked if I need a replacement car to which I answered yes as mine is un-drivable they then put me through to Albany assistance who will provide an equivalent car and deal with any repairs, car turned up on Monday Audi A5 convertible, get a call today from the girl who hit me insurers tesco offering a car and repairs which I declined as its all in hand, they asked if I was using Albany and said that I will be liable for any costs over £60 per day, so should I be going through admiral and Albany or should I be using her insurance for all repairs and hire car? Car is supposed to be getting picked up this evening by the garage but I will cancel if I have to, any advice appreciated
-
i hope not too to be honest but if it is i will be trying to buy it back anyway, will just have to wait and see

thanks for the support everyone, to be fair to her its an awkward junction as the traffic coming from what would have been her left can't be seen too well as there's a bridge i think she was turning right and was too busy looking left and just didn't see me, couldn't get angry at her as what's done is done and she was clearly as upset as me, its in the hands of the insurance company (admiral) now, who have already confirmed that it's 100% her fault and will be providing me with a hire car as soon as possible at the other insurers expense as mine is not drivable

trying to come up with a username when i signed up to psn, everything i chose was taken so ended up with first letter of my name and my nickname when i worked in norway and my age at the time, couldn't be bothered to come up with something new when i signed up here

i'm with vik on this one, the pads were being changed as part of the service this would require someone to be at eye level with the rotors that were apparently falling apart but they put it back together anyway then somehow managed to rupture a brake line while the car was static why weren't the brake lines inspected aswell as the discs as part of the service? you shouldn't be paying labour on top of labour for what quite frankly sounds like something that could have been avoided

spotted in the work car park, same year, colour and interior as mine! probably not a member on here as no stubby or clear reflectors but worth a shot

I'm in ely and I always take my car to cougar store in Leicester for any work that needs doing, great customer service and certainly won't rip you off! Well worth the drive!

quick update for anyone having similar issues, took the car to cougar store where mitz and andy changed the bushes for superpro, took the car for alignment and the knocking was still there, although the bushes clearly needed changing got the car back up on the ramp and after a bit of investigating andy started to check tighten everything he had done, all good, took the wheels off check tightened the spacers again all good, check tightened the droplinks and found that they all went at least half a turn or more, problem solved no more knocks or creaks car feels planted and a pleasure to drive once again big thanks to mitz and andy as usual for fitting me in at short notice

can anyone tell me if these are any good? i've never heard of whistle but diamond back and mongoose i've heard of but years ago with bmx's, i've also been told that cube would be a good bet for my budget, any advice greatly appreciated
Have you had any joy yet bud..
Were abouts in Anglia ?
Have you tried the forums ie..
Bike radar
Pink bike
Mtbe
Also those bikes are not worth the £500
They are heavy @*!# components and be horrid to ride...
Pm me if your still looking for one with price etc and size I will source one with better spec.
cheers for the reply, no i didn't get round to it in the end other things took priority, i'm in ely cambs, i'll send a pm soon thanks

ok so heres the update, got it up on the ramp at a local garage and found this
drivers side
passengers side for comparison
different angle drivers side
and passengers side again for comparison
and finally the part number
so think i'll start with this first, can anyone tell me what this is? (i'm guessing banana arm due to the shape) and do i need to replace the whole thing or can i get a new bush/uprated bush?
again any advice greatly appreciated

I do have spacers fitted, usual 20/25 set up, thanks for the advice

hi, i have a knocking noise that only seems to happen when turning under load coming from the drivers side, for example if i turn right 90 degrees it will knock once or twice and when i straighten up it will also knock once this also happens on left hand turns sounds like its coming from the drivers side wheel but does not happen when stationary applying lock left to right only when moving, drop links were replaced all round earlier this year so could it be a symptom of banana arm starting to fail or a ball joint somewhere along the steering?
anyone had similar?

^ this, for £500 more you can get an 08 hr in the zeds for sale section

a majority of the irish imports were 2006 rev up models that were unregistered therefore when imported to the mainland they were registered mostly as 2009, also most of these cars had the gt4 style wheels too iirc
does your new car have the bonnet hump and 2 air intake boxes? if so it is an hr if not it will most likely be a de rev up

Get your self some spin caps. They don't come with the logo, but despite finding tiny finger prints in the brake dust, I have never lost one yet.
^^ this, I lost a few sets of caps and ended up buying the anti theft ones, as above no logo but they do come in different colours
