  1. Planning to buy my own place quite soon and i always said that I won't sell Zed... but in 2 minds now and only way i would sell Zed if i get another decent toy to replace it.

And came across this, which would be ideal...love S chassis cars, this one looks clean and after chatting to the owner over FB - looks like its very clean for its age and solid underneath etc. So would be perfect scenario: Sell zed, buy this and have few grand spare to go towards house.

Anybody knows this car? Or any general info about S14a? Or may be someone registered on their forum and can post for me asking about the car? As i have zero knowledge about them.

Not bothered about cosmetics (wheels, seats, cage etc), just don't want to get rid off perfectly running, with no faults, Zed and get something that will break as soon as i get home (suppose, that can happen to anyone with any car).

Any help/advise on these cars will be appreciated.

  2. Put it on inside of the windscreen - that way wipers won't ever touch it ;)

That will not work as the inside of the screen is still covered by the regs:

    Additional Opaque Films

Additional opaque films are subject to reason for rejection 1 whether fitted on the inside or outside of the windscreen.

However if it is tinted film rather than opaque:

Additional mirrors and tinting films are not subject to Reason for Rejection 1.

    LIMO Black anyone ;)

Yea, sorry, that's what I meant. A sun strip from tint film. Couple of my mates have that on their cars for past 3-5 years and no problems at all :)

  3. I'm only staying at this place for few more months, so not bothered, as long as it lasts few months haha

Area to cover is drive/front of the house. i would say about 6meters by 8-9 meters and light will be on the house wall, about 4 meters off the ground if that gives you an idea? :)

  4. I work at a electrical contractors & I specialise in lighting ;) sound like your fitting glass was really cold & when the halogen lamp came in it got hot fast which caused it to break or when u put your lamp in u used your bare fingers instead of using the foam which comes with it, finger prints on them lamps ruin the life on them & cause them to pop, also u don't want anything solar powered now a days reason been they are all rubbish pretty much & at the price it's up it won't last long at all! Just replace it with an decent LED fittings & try get a COB led or SMD they are the brightest 2 then just depending on what kelvin u want

    or that :)

Halogen bulb still intact and works fine... so it was either strong wing/broken frame or getting hot from cold too fast caused it :)

    is this ok?

  5. You have mains in place so would stick with that.

As regards the glass breakage, I had a similar issue when the glass retaining screw worked its way lose and the strong winds did the rest.

Thanks Alex. By the looks of it that exactly what happened... Just went up and looked at it - and side bolts are fine, but actual bracket corroded and snapped away and light was lose and this "break" happened last week, when we had strong winds. So I'm pretty sure it was that. Might as well replace that light with a new, LEd, one anyway and use existing wires

  6. Little pre-story...

Mrs goes to me another day "why are there pieces of glass on the drive?". I have no idea. Didn't think anything of it, until next day when I thought that all house/car windows are intact and only other thing with glass in it is security light. Went outside - and yes, glass on it is broken. Thought may be bulb exploded and broke it (doubt it, but never know) - turned it on, bulb still works. Light is just above patio, at the front. About 3 meters in the air...bulb works, so somebody tried smashing it? Why? Street is quiet and full of old people, so doubt anyone from here smashed it.

May be thieves? Smashed it one night and planning coming back to nick something in near future? Never know.

So thought I'll get another light and outside IP camera, just to keep an eye on things.

    Question is:

Came across this on eBay and other websites:

    http://www.ebay.co.uk/ulk/itm/161831389845

Solar powered LED light. Does anyone have any experience with them? Any good or complete waste of money? Reason I would prefer one of them - so save hassle with all wires. Since all bulbs are LED I guess it doesn't drain much power? So may be that solar panel will be sufficient? Or am I better off with usual hard wired light? If so, can I chain-link/wore it to the original light?

    Thanks

  7. Oh damn it! As I have one for Z, but like the look of that carbon one and was hoping I can get one as well lol but can't be arsed with trimming it and trying to make it fit lol

Dremel makes light work of it, just takes so long knowing what to take off.

See what the finished article looks like but couldn't get the angle of the gauges to my satisfaction.

No sure what i'll fix it to the pillar with yet

One I bought from Tarmac, came with little hole in it, to use a screw to screw it to the A-pillar, but I didn't fancy having a screw, so used one of them glues from Halfords, that comes in 2 tubes and you mix them together and it's solid.
