  1. Thanks for that - I have ordered crc sensor cleaner for the maf, which from what I have read is the best stuff. I'm going to order a specific throttle body cleaner for the TB, but am unsure as yet which one to go for. I think I'm pretty lucky with my Z as everything under the bonnet is corrosion free. One thing I have noticed is that I filled up with Tesco 99 Ron, and that night left the negative disconnected and I swear she is running even better
  2. Ha I knew I'd get flamed for no pics!!! Autoscratch is a franchise - so it depends on location who comes to see you. He started at 9am and refurbed all the wheels, finishing at around 2pm. They look pretty much as new. Before they where pretty pitted and showing some corrosion. It was a spray and lacquer finish. I'll post up some pics in the morning
  3. Thanks everyone - I'll post back with how I get on. Hopefully do it this weekend
  4. Any chance of a photo of your installed head unit? Thanks mark
  5. Had them done by Autoscratch mobile - top job. The Zeds looking pristine (if anyone's interested £150)
  6. Please could someone tell me whether I need to get a new gasket if I am going to take off and clean the throttle body? If so, where would I get one? Thank you. Mark
  7. Had anyone used Seafoam Deep Creep - it seems to work without the need to remove the throttle body. As a matter of interest, how long has it taken to: A. Remove the throttle body B. Clean the throttle body Also are any replacement gaskets or the like needed, Thanks.
  8. Hi guys, thanks for all the advice. I remembered that I have some infinity 62.5 kappa component speakers in the loft These are 56mm deep. Will these fit ok? Are they ok for use with the standard head unit (although I might replace this too soon) Thanks again for all the help. Mark.
  9. Thanks. I'd read on some posts that carb cleaner was not good for some throttle bodies as it can strip the coating off the throttle body. I go with your advice though. Thanks mark
  10. Please could someone recommend the best product to clean the throttle body with. I see crc sensor cleaner is recommended for the maf, would this be good to use on the throttle body too? Thanks mark.
  11. Hi everyone. Well I did the iPod tape hack today and also replaced the plugs. I've been reading up on cleaning the maf sensor and throttle body. Can you advise whether the following sounds about right? 1. Maf: disconnect from the inlet pipe and spray wires with cleaner. 2. Throttle body. Disconnect neg from battery, then harness from TB. Remove inlet pipe from TB, then remove screws holding TB on. Once removed clean with TB cleaner. I understand that care is needed, but the flap can be moved manually when cleaning. Reassemble. Any advise or comments appreciated Thanks mark.

  13. Just been reading a thread and came across the stuff below. Has anyone fitted the iridium plugs and if so what are the experiences? Is it safer to stick with platinums? Thanks. 'I work for an aftermarket auto parts retailer, sold some Iridium plugs to a really good mechanic to change on a 350Z, much like mine. After the swap, complaints about burning up coils. Local Nissan dealership said no to the Iridium, and stick to the Platinum. Mentioned about not enough resistance in the Iridium set. I'm going for the platinum myself. Good luck, 85k miles on original plugs. Edwin'
  14. To be honest, I rang two independent garages and they were both more expensive. I would agree that a good independent stamp is A1, but it's unlikely that a Nissan stamp will do any harm come sale time. The added bonus with the Nissan garage was a free mot when needed and full European rac membership for 1 year for free. Hard to beat, and the rac cover is peace of mind for my trip to le mans in June
  15. Agreed. I'll do my own oil changes in addition, but it's nice to have dealer stamps in the book. My car was running full synth 5w 35 before the service, but since the service it's running smoother. I'd have to conclude that 10w 40 seems to make the car run better.
  16. Hi all i had my car serviced at main agents today (a very reasonable 139.99p) I note from the paperwork that they put in 10w40 oil is that ok? Running super smooth tonight mind. Thanks marm
  17. Mine is the none Bose model and the sound is pretty poor really. Would these be a good option? infinity 6532i Thanks mark.

    Aerial mod

Hi all, I'd like to fit a smaller aerial, but still retain good reception. I've read a number of posts who suggest using a Honda s2000 one. I'm struggling to find one and I think Honda charge around £40 for one which is silly. There seem to be a few Honda civic ones about - does anyone know if these are the same or can recommend a good alternative? Thanks mark
  19. I just meant he had bought the car from new, ie it has zero previous owners before him. Not very well phrased I'll admit.
  20. Thanks for the reply & help. Cheers mark
  21. Thinking about changing the plugs as I think my car will be on the originals (05 & 79k). Running great, so wondering if there's much to be gained? The iridium plugs seem to get a good write up and I was wondering if anyone here was using them and whether they actually provide any better response in the real world. Also I have read about resetting the ecu, throttle opening etc... Is this worth doing or is it just if you are experiencing problems. Many thanks and great forum . Mark
  22. 79000 miles. I think it's a bit of a buyers market at the moment. Still what a brilliant car - loving it!
  23. Actually now I see replacing the rears is probably harder than the fronts! Please could someone recommend some speakers for the fronts, under £100. Also what size speaker do I need - is it 6.5 inches? Do I get 2 way or component (and is component just having a separate tweeter??) Thank you very much - mark.
  24. Thanks for that - that will be this weekends project. I might replace the rear speakers too at the same time. I'm guessing they are easier to replace than the front ones?
