  1. We'll just have to wait and see I guess, from what i've heard It's still very much unknown whether or not there are any spitfires in Burma and if there are the condition of them is questionable.

My boss recently bought a Mk5 Spitfire which is currently under going restoration and an engine rebuild - he's in contact with a lot of experts who are all very dubious about the Burma Spits. However his spitfire was found in Australia as it was shipped there in pieces from the UK after a runway accident. It was her 70th birthday in September and there was a private show at Biggin Hill, I took some photos which you might all like to see :)

And this is the Mk5 spitfire as she stands, although I think she's got a few more panels since this photo was taken:

  2. Pretty sure that is the veilside V1 as i am looking for one :)

I don't think so, the v1 doesn't have the dip in the middle or the same cut at the sides.

I've seen a top secret splitter which looks similar to it, the middle of the lip even rises slightly as per the first pic.

  3. Looks like a reallly well looked after zed there mate.

Looking forward to seeing how the cooling panel pogresses. I could be interested in an anodised blue one depending on price.

Hey cheers mate. The panels are looking very competitive at the moment, like 1/2 the cost of carbon ones and pretty much any colour ;) will post up when confirmed.

Very nice, also done tastefully

Did you get the evo-r intake duct from the states? I prefer the more subtle approach.

Hey, cheers! I bought it of eBay, I think it came from Vietnam or Japan (can't remember) but agree it works just as well and is subtle.

  4. Then I needed a service so got some new spark plugs, Motul 5-30w 8100 oil, Nissan filter etc and got her all sorted out for the winter

    IMG_0263_zps8ff9c6ea.jpg

Whilst at it I added some Super Pro front and rear poly bushings from Horsham developments

Then the rear discs and pads arrived, so went back to Gillingham Performance Centre to fit, also some Vredestein Ultrac Sensatas to replace the Re050's on the rear - much better grip now!

The front number plate has always annoyed me at how big it is

    number_zps7ba43793.jpg

So I got a smaller one, it's not too small though so shouldn't attract too much attention :)

And finally my latest addition is this JIC magic carbon wrapped strut brace :)

So that's all for now but there's plenty more to come in time for Japfest :D

P.S. Big thanks to CS, ZmanAlex, Horsham & Buster and anyone else i've bought parts from or sought advice over the past few months :)

  5. This then led onto changing the badges from silver to black

I haven't got a picture of the finished product yet.

This is how she looks pretty much as current from the outside.

This is the latest prototype of which we will be going into production soon in various anodised colours :)

  6. Whilst doing the HID's I got a 1/2" plenum spacer - I think it's Horsham one, got it off a member here - and it does fit with the OEM strut brace :)

Next I added a front splitter and had it like this for a while

    IMG_2363_zps4a2a1552.jpg

Then the brakes needed upgrading, went for EBC yellow stuff, EBC blade discs, Goodridge braided brake and clutch lines.

    IMG_3307_zpsa5202587.jpg

    IMG_3309_zpsa2c23a38.jpg

The blade discs are new for EBC and are high carbon which helps cooling and extra braking effeciency - and it shows :) rears were on there way but EBC had yet to make the first batch for the Zed. This is one of the first 350z's in the UK to use these discs :)

Then it was time for a new exhaust, went for the Scorpion as it's not too loud and looks smart.

    Out with the old...

    In with the new...

    IMG_3325_zps88491930.jpg

I then bought an Evo-R intake pipe - went for this style rather than the hole in the bumper option so it's more discrete and different.

And got some purple anodised dressing nuts for the engine bay

  7. Hi - thought i'd start a project thread to document the progress of my zed so far and future plans :D

I originally bought my zed with the intention of remaining 'un-modified' as previous cars i'd tinkered with a fair bit and I don't find much time these days for it. However I quickly got the bug of zeditis and set about with a few tweaks here and there...no thanks to Buster and little bit from keyser putting ideas into my head

This is shortly after I picked up my 04 Nissan 350z in Sunset orange with full GT pack and Satnav. Feb 2012.

Within a week bits started to arrive:

HKS panel filter, LED side bulbs, decals, stubby aerial and 350z tax holder

So that sets the scene so far....

  8. Nice fab work as always, but I see the ARC etching has been polished off, but hey it's no loss because distinctively its an ARC no mistake there.

Now what would be so difficult about fabricating a similar designed catch can? It's essentially a tube, quartered with flanges at each end and I guess some sort of baffling inside? I'd be interested if someone could fabricate something similar.
