  1. I've driven quite a few of the cars at Prestwold, including a GT-R. I have found the instructors to be very good, as long as you show that you are listening to them and give them confidence that you do what they say, then they let you push the cars a little. The GT-R is so fast it's funny, but I felt like more of a driving hero (even though I'm not) in some of the other cars, so I don't think I would choose to own one, personally. Glad I drove it though.
  2. Thanks for the link. Interesting reading. Confusing, but interesting!
  3. Hi guys. Firstly, mine is a 2003 U.K. 350Z. I left work this evening and all was well. I stopped at a shop on the way home (off license ) and the key fob wouldn't open the car, so I had to do the key in door, alarm going off until ignition on routine. When I got home I put a new battery in the fob (although it was only a few months old anyway) but still nothing. The car came with two fobs and the other one works fine. So, is this problem one that is known about? And what is the best way to go about getting a new fob / programming etc. I did try using the search function but couldn't work it out! Thanks, Martin.
  4. I have also suffered with two crushed discs in my lower back, but I have found the Z to be one of the least back ache inducing cars I've ever owned, even being in it for two hours or more at a time. I find that many quite random things can trigger a bad back for days or even weeks at a time, getting in or out of the car awkwardly (in a tight parking space, for example) can do it, but for me, driving the Z has never caused me greif. The heated seats can soothe a bad back quite nicely too!
  5. This afternoon - Saturday 12th Feb - I saw a grey '06 plate 350Z heading into Maidstone on the A229 Loose Road, around 3:30 pm. Then around an hour later a white 'wide body' '52 plate on the same bit of raod. It looked quite spectacular, sounded good too, but I don't think I could live with it, it was WIDE! Wouldn't fit in my crappy little garage and supermarket carparks must be a nightmare! I was walking on both occasions, so if the owners are on here they wouldn't have seen my Z at the times.
  6. I'll look into that then, thanks!
  7. Nice work, good results. Could you please tell me exactly what you did with your seats? Mine aren't too bad but and I've used leather cleaner and conditioner on them but would like to get them a bit better if I can. Thanks.
  8. I'm after a standard air intake hose for a 2003 U.K. model. Just to be clear, it's the hose that goes between the air box and the throttle body, I don't need the airbox or the air flow/mass meter. Thanks!
  9. A little tip, just in case there is a problem. Always crack loose the filler plugs before draining fluids, no good draining them then finding the filler plugs won't budge!
  10. Only extra part needed in P2 over P1 is the air filter. The other 'extras' are just more items to check; Driveshafts Air conditioning hoses Coolant / antifreeze strength Fuel and vapour lines Oxygen sensors Brake servo hose Exhaust emissions I've just been reading my service book preparing myself for the biggy - P3. Only had my Z for ten days but I can't wait to get my spanners on it!
  11. I'm not the only one then! I would turn it up ( ) but I prefer to listen to the engine, always have done in any car I've owned. If I come up with a cunning fix I'll let you know! Strange that it doesn't do it all the time.
  12. I know this is a very trivial matter, but if you heard it in your car you'd want to fix it too! The little round bit of plastic on top of the dashboard on the drivers' side, with the alarm l.e.d. in, sometimes buzzes/rattles very loudly! The noise stops if I lightly put a finger on it. Has anyone else had this, and if so how did you cure it without stripping the dash or using unsightly sticky tape..? (2003 350Z). Thanks.
  13. Thanks guys. I am very pleased with it, I think it is in excellent condition for an eight year old car. Vik54 - the previous owner was called Claire, located not far from Cambridge. The car was on Ebay for a while and then on Pistonheads for a short time, maybe you saw it there? It's got good history, though only done 33k miles, but I'll be giving it a thorough service and check over in the next few weeks anyway. As well as driving it often!
  14. Well, I picked the car up this afternoon (sunday) and drove almost exactly 100 miles home, from near Cambridge to Maidstone in Kent. Then I spent a large part of the afternoon driving friends and family around and everyone seems very impressed with it also. I am totally smitten! But I'm sure I don't need to tell you lot how good they are! Anyway, here it is;
  15. Thanks for the warm welcome everyone! As I do all of my own servicing and repairs I've had a look in the technical sections and already found some interesting and useful information. Nice site!
  16. Hi there, another newbie here. I haven't actually got my Z yet, but I've left a deposit on one which, if all goes to plan, I pick up on sunday. And I can't flippin' wait! It's a '53 plate car in grey with tan seats, GT pack and Rays alloys. I'll make sure I put some pics up when I get it. It will be replacing my 1989 TVR 350I which I've had since February 2010. I've been on here a little but mostly just looking at cars for sale while I was hunting for one, so I'm off to have a quick look round the site now. See you round!
