  2. Welcome! Off topic but Aftershox how difficult was routing the reverse cam harness on a roadster? Thinking of adding one to mine...

Sent from my XT1032 using Tapatalk

Relatively easy. Just a little time consuming

Yes - @chalks - @Davectr is correct.; time consuming.... to remove all boot plastics etc. Brian's (bdl99) instructions are very good though..... follow them carefully - and you shouldn't have any issues.

  3. Good luck - and stick around, plenty of past owners on here

Unless of course you have bought a GT-R in which case you can get the feck out as that would not be fair

 Coldel - a GT-R for a weekender? Ain't got that much moolah ! Loving your optimism though !

handover the vehicle and keys as Part-Ex towards my new "weekender".

    Which is......?

    :snack:

Well, as you asked so nicely............. here are a few piccies of my new weekender ride.

Yes - that's right - 2014 MINI Clubman Cooper S with the JCW Aero kit in White / Silver. Lots of opportunity to tune and mod to full stage 1 JCW (if I want to do this later?); I didn't really mod my Zeds too much beyond ICE and Gadgets, got my eyes on a nice Visual Boost Mod for front / rear cameras, we will see how that pans out. It's all a bit new to me at the moment this MINI lark! Plenty of fanboys out there though !

So far, I'm really pleased with it.... and not missing the Zed quite so much as I thought I would!

  4. Well my fellow Zedders - the time has finally come to bid Z ownership a fond farewell !

Over the weekend, I took my 370z Roadster on one final drive to handover the vehicle and keys as Part-Ex towards my new "weekender". It was quite sad to see her go, but exciting at the same time to get my new weekender / midlife crisis - whatever you want to call it.

Having owned two Zeds over the past years; My first- the Silver 350z Coupé - MY06/ DE GT NAV.

    350z-.jpg

..and then my Le Mans Blue 370z Roadster - MY10

    aftershox 370z roadster

I can honestly say............... I miss them both for different reasons.!

The truth is - a two seater car was no longer practical for us (even with the ZED being a Weekender!), now that we have a dog (she likes to go everywhere with us !), and she couldn't travel with us if we wanted to take the Zed out............ so it had to go ! :surrender:

I'll likely check in on the forum on occasions; just to see what everyone is up to........... and of course to answer any questions about 350z ICE / 370z Reverse Cam fitting on the Roadster.

I've had so much POSITIVE FEEDBACK about my 350z SUPERGUIDE FOR REPLACING BOSE / INSTALLING DOUBLE-DIN / REVERSE CAM - even though I haven't owned a 350z for over 2 years; (nearly 10,000 views since I put it up there!)

You guys are awesome ! ..and this forum reflects that !

FINALLY, If you own a 370z Roadster - and you are looking for a few treats for your beloved car, I do have a couple of things for sale over in the 370z section......... go check it out !

  7. That is an excellent guide i am waiting on the loom coming from Brian in the US then i will be tackling the reverse camera,

    K370Z2 - It's REALLY IMPORTANT to remember that this guide is for fitting a rear-cam to the 350z (not the 370z);

Brian sends a really great guide with the loom anyway - so you'll need to refer to that 100% for the install into your 370z.

Surprisingly though (there are some steps in common between the 350z and 370z camera fitting!)......

  8. Now this is me most probably, well definitely, being a bit stupid..

I've got the same camera as in the guide, yet I just can't understand with the cables I have, how to follow it.

The power cable contain both a tiny gauge black and red wire, which I assume are the live and earth cables. They're all running through the same black insulating sheath, but, the guide is joining the cables at different places, ie the earth at the gearstick, and the live in the boot along with the reverse sense cable. The bit I don't get, is how you do this... Do you just split the outer black insulater, effectively giving 2 separate wires, or do you do some very very precise splicing?

Or more than likely, does none of my post a risky make sense..

Av8er; sorry for the delay in writing back to you; I don't own a 350z any more, and I've not been online much of late.

    Let me explain;

Firstly - the 'ground / earth' wire (by the gearstick) is connected to the Handbrake BYPASS (it's not used for the Camera!); this allows you to watch DVDs while the car is in-motion !

Right, now the camera has two wires yes? Black and Red. Typically the RED is the Live wire. Black is earth.

So, if you think about it... the Camera should ONLY be POWERED when REVERSE GEAR is selected.... because you don't want the camera "always-on"; so it gets it's power feed from the reverse wire. In other words - when you pop the car into reverse, and the reverse bulb "comes on" - it will ALSO provide power to the camera.

The black wire (camera earth) can be connected ANYWHERE in the boot area; I used a screw / bolt near to the SUB. Just pop your MM on it - and see if you get a good ground. There are a lot of bolts back there in the boot, but NOT ALL are good.... Just make sure you pick a good one.

So - at this stage - you have POWER (from the reverse bulb wire) --> Camera RED [so camera powers up when reverse bulb is lit]

..and you have a good EARTH --> camera wire BLACK.

The FINAL wire you need to connect is the wire that is responsible for 'sensing' that the car is ACTUALLY in reverse gear.

    - So what you need to do - is RUN a wire all the way from the back of the car to the front of the car (..and connect it to the reverse sense wire) on the HU,

Hopefully, this makes sense now? If not - send me a PM - and I'll do my best to answer your questions.

    Good luck.... M

  9. New to the site so if you have already listed this apologies

Could you please list the following info:-

The parts/model numbers required for the fit

    Where you purchased them from

    The price for all parts

I have 2010 Black Edition Auto so would all your parts work on mine

After fit does it automatically switch from Sat screen to camera after fit or is there more modifications required

Etc Etc - Instruction problem solving Etc Etc information Etc Etc

    PM has been sent !!!!

  10. Looks very B) mate! Bet it sounds awesome.

I definitely want to add a nice exhaust note to my 370z Roadster... and at that price - it's a steal .... shame it's a bit too far for me to drive.

  11. I fitted one to my Roadster, a few more bits have to come out and you have to stop the hood from folding down half way so you can get into that area, but as the others have said, its really professional, and looks sweet on the factory screen.

Hey Bubbagross - I found a better way to route the camera loom from the boot to the rear parcel shelf behind the drivers seat in the Roadster (without having to mess with the hood folding malarkey.... you can actually 'bash' the cable straight through (if you know where to run it!)....

Steve-r - you can get the harness / loom for the 370z from here (USA - Brian / bdl99)
