I wouldn't be overly worried about Nissans R&D, if they were trying to design the best and most functional exhaust system for the 350z then I think they could have come up with something a bit better than the OEM systems for both the 350 & 370z but with most things costs was probably more of a concern over optimal performance and longevity..

I thought calsonic designed/manufactured the exhaust systems for Nissan?

Here is a vid with silenced decats.

    Sounds nice! B)

Ive had both silenced and unsilenced japspeeds. The silenced ones take away a tiny bit of drone but to be honest its not reslly noticeable. The unsilenced ones snapped after 3 months and i got them replaced foc. The silenced have now been on for 3 months and when i had them off the other day fitting a wideband uego sensor the silencer insides had melted and broke so no silencer left lol. Il be getting horsham ones next i think

    This gives me an idea.

What if I buy silenced pipes, try them, then if I decide I still want more noise just remove the insides? Or is that just stupid?

  3. Hello it's been a while since i've posted.

Basically, I want to make my DE sound more aggressive.

Firstly, I chopped the standard airbox and replaced the standard filter with a K&N which created a awesome induction note but completely overpowered the standard exhaust system.

So I fitted a Scorpion system (Y-piece back), which although gives a pleasant tone to the exhaust, the difference is only really noticeable outside the car. I find the volume is still to quiet from inside the car for my liking.

So the next obvious change to make would be replace the catalytic converters.

Now a quick search finds a vast array of silenced and unsilenced pipes.

What I want to know is what are peoples experiences with each?

Am I going to notice any difference in volume with a silenced decat?

    Do unsilenced ones sound crap?

I should mention its not a daily commuter, more of a weekend toy, and as you've probably gathered i'm not really concerned with performance gains, so long as it sounds good is all I'm after. Thank you

  4. Hi guys not sure if you've seen in the general section but i've crashed the zed :(

    Im after;

1x front nearside lower control arm /or control arm to subframe bush.

    1x front nearside compression arm.

1x front rays alloy wheel (any condition as its gettin poweder coated anyway)

    Thanks

  5. Thanks for the kind words guys.

    I managed to jack the car up after work and have a closer look;

Seems like the subframe has got away with it. Lower control arm bush has seen better days though.

The alloy is not actually as bad as I thought and may even be refurbishable, i'm no expert though.

Apart from that and the track rod I can't actually see any further damage. Suspension strut looks straight, balljoints seem intact, drop link looks ok. Although i'm sceptical about the compression (banana) arm being possibly bent, but I can't tell.

So best case scenario looks like:-

    1x nearside lower control arm.

    1x nearside trackrod

    1x alloy wheel refurbish

    1x wheel alignment

Going to start stripping it down tomorrow afternoon and fire a few PM's off to :pmzmanalex:

    Sigh.

  6. I agree i'm very lucky to be fair it could have been much worse.

My biggest fear is I could have bent the subframe where the LCA bush bolts through but it looks like it could be okay. I'll jack it up tomorrow and remove the wheel to have a proper look.

I'm defiantly looking to find some used parts to repair it with, funds really mean this couldn't of happened at a worse time

  7. :bang: I could sit here and write a long story about what happened but i'm guessing most of you will get the idea just by looking at this...

100% my fault, going far to quick into a soaking wet roundabout. Just glad no one else was involved. :boat:

Can't get the car off the ground to properly look at the damage, but from what I can see it looks like the wheel and lower control arm bush has took most the impact. Track rod looks bent, also possible damage to the banana arm but can't really see.

Managed to limp the car home, albeit with some difficulty turning left..

Took a few photo's (crap quality sorry)

What sort of cost am I looking at here? dare I ask.. :scare:

    Sounds legit.

  9. The thing with the Z is it's got very long legs, if you're not in the right gear at the right time most hot hatches will keep up no problem.

Because a 'lesser' car kept up doesn't make the Z slow though.

Just think of it like this, there's probably plenty of people on the porsche owners forum saying they can't belive a 350z kept up.

  10. I have never asked but I am going to take a wild guess now and say you a young lad - 21, 22? My advice is do as you will on your own time but it isn't wise to boast about it on the net matey.

P.s. Did you win? Or did the heavy wheels slow you down too much?:lol:

Oi im a 22 year old lad and I'm responsible enough to never ever ever ever admit to loosing to a ST :teeth:

  11. Also worth checking the driftworks forum as its pretty busy. Think there's minimum posts there for selling too but less than here so worth checking. I've sold my last 3 cars in there :) also as said good ad and photos are essential

This may seem a little daft but i don't think i'd want to sell my pride and joy on a forum like drift works.

'Take care of her,' and all that...

  12. all the packs are the same - swap 3 and another over see if the code changes.

If so :pmzmanalex: for a new one.

Someone had a simlar ish problem recently I think that was a CPS

Thats a good idea, i'll try that first.

Hi mate, I sell coil packs in packs of 3's or singles. PM sent and good to send in the morning if needed

Cheers buddy if it is indeed the coil pack i'll be in touch.

  13. My car's got gremlins under the bonnet.

It seems to have developed an intermittent fault where it misfires under load.

It drives fine under light acceleration however when i put my foot all the way down there's loads of vibration and the car feels like its lost 100bhp. idle also seems erratic and there's a strong smell of petrol when cold.

The cel light starts flashing sometimes, ive done a pedal dance and found the code 303 pops up, 'cylinder 3 misfire'

My initial thoughts are the ignition coil could be on its way out, are these replaced individually and the same for each cylinder? how much do they cost?

I say it intermittent because sometimes it's absolutely fine then sometimes its like crap.

need to get it sorted because im doing a 600 mile round journey in a few weeks.

    cheers chaps.

  14. Very common place for corrosion, if its anything like mine was your gonna have one hell of a time trying to weld it up.

Perfect excuse for a new system if you ask me, if you like the noise now i'd reccomend the scorpion system. I've just put one on mine and the sound is awesome and the quality is top notch for the price.
