  1. Doogy................your dead! :boxing::blackeye:

    I love you too :cloud9:

I have always found that adding a named driver drops my insurance ;)

Works with most of the gomeerkatmoney companies, knocked about a third off a very expensive quote by adding various older family members who would probably be too scared to drive the thing anyway.

  2. This forum is awesome.

Bounced a message to the seller asking for more info on its history, but really without either a) a tame mechanic to hand for an inspection or B) a couple of beers, I think I will be leaving it alone.

There has been a bit of interest on there so far so it may well go for quite a bit more in the last day of bidding. There are better pre '06 examples for not much more, but I will probably end up waiting for one to appear in the right price bracket.

  3. Good spot, you're right that it is all a bit fishy.

They allegedly bought it from a dealer (Barrons BMW - tried to call them but the service dept is shut and they would have the info, big shame), mentions that can provide the MOT history, but has nothing to say about servicing. You'd have thought they would have got the book and accident info from the dealer when they bought it - unless insurance bods didn't retrieve it from the original owner.

Hard to call given they've been upfront with some of the facts, but without that missing info it is risky. £5200 on the reserve would be a total steal mind, provided it didn't fall to pieces.

  4. Got it, thanks Toby.

So the car was registered in an accident in October '10. The chap has only owned it since March, bought some clips for the bumper, and second hand handbook\wallet. Now flogging it and has just bought a Vaulkswagen Passat to replace it with.. not quite the same league lol.

    Spider sense is tingling.

An aside - I thought I'd found a winner for the MY06 lower tax bracket hunt, but it was registered 24 hours too late

  5. Spotted this on ebay just around the corner from me, but the seller claims to not know what the Cat D is for - "Allthough there is no mention on the log-book, The car has at some point been the subject of an insurance claim or theft and is recorded as CatD".

Sounds a bit odd that they bought a car from a dealer without knowing whether it was stolen recovered, or accident damaged. Shame, as the price is pretty good.

  6. Not that many people appear to be after big engined thirsty cars, just look at the ads on this site to see the numbers that end up getting reduced further and further. Quite a few 350s out there mean that it is a bit of a buyers market I guess or you can hang around and see if things get better. Dealer in a v.affluent village down the road had to drop his price by a good £1k on a tidy 05 to shift it.

Curiously I live near Basingrad and am looking for a 350z.

  7. Ooooooh JSPs, exciting stuff! :kicking

I commit a few apostrophe abominations but usually catch myself, but text speak outside of a text (and even in one, really) grinds my gears, and I am probably in the first generation that was still growing up when phones hit mass market. Apparently people even submit CVs and covering letters using such lingo, and my photographer friend suffers models coming out with that stuff all the time too. :(

  8. Its is just a single 'beep' or is it a 'beep...............beep...............beep' or a 'beepbeepbeepbeepbeep'?

ECG indicating Skele's heart going nuts in anticipation of the drive?

Sorry I'm probably useless here. Low fuel sensor make a beep? Head unit\Nav waking up? Try varying your usual order of things and see what happens. I'll go back to lurking now.

  9. I went there with some friends about two years ago, great place. If you're into Dolphins\Sharks\Fish (plus random birds, a few tigers, the usual stuff B) ) and whatnot then make sure you get on a day trip to Ocean World. Also worth while are the Catermeran trips, again with added snorkelling - we went with Freestyle who were pretty cool and opened up a free on board bar on the return leg.

Make sure you sample some '151 rum'.. Just make a written note of your room number before you do so.

Driving there is crazy, and the usual caveats about straying off resort apply but you'll be fine if you stick with the organised tours and things. Should be pretty hot there this time of year too.

  10. Hey Folks,

Have been admiring 350s for a while and took a silver example out for my first test drive today. Have to say it is terrible, totally atrocious, horrific... as I'm simply going to have to be buying one now. :D Will be moving on from a slightly decrepit (but lovely) Cougar so not exactly used to driving sports cars. Was surprised at just how under control the 350 feels and, heh, the power available.

Car I saw today was a Silver '05 GT, 54k on the clock and going for just shy of £10k. Pretty good nick, but missing the 50k P2 service - although the dealer would do a lot of it as prep when selling. Can't grumble really, just need to get the pennies in order - and keep looking around for any better bargains while I'm at it. Already thinking up ICE mods ;)
