  1. I've got a portfolio spread around the usual AIM stocks - RKH, BMR, MEC, NTOG and they are all getting hammered regardless of their actual performance. IIs are just pulling out of the game and consolidating, plus MMs taking advantage of the situation :(

     

    However it doesn't change the nature of the companies. RKH still has many BBL of oil, BMR has a fair bit of metal in the tailings dump, and MEC continues to reduce costs and refocus on digital media.

     

    Of course if anyone wants a quicker profit then... A Gold ETF perhaps??

  2. I work for a massive IT company in your neck of the woods. We don't do much web development in the usual sense, but whenever we look for someone in the coding\development line of work, and once the candidate gets past the HR filters, qualifications mean very little to the actual manager looking at the CV. Nearly all down to relevant experience, examples of work, and the right skills mix with the ability to work stuff out.

     

    Web development means different things to different people sometimes it is things like ASP, VB.Net and PHP rather than whirly gigs and html. Consider looking at HTML5 which is one of those things that will take off (or has taken off) as tablet computers and phones really take hold, also worth considering taking a look at IOS\Android\WebOS as well.

     

    Experts Exchange has a pretty active community once you get to the asking questions stage.

  3. Definitely advisory but be careful when you encounter as the next variable speed limit will almost certainly be set for the same and when you see them it can be a bit late to drop rapidly from 70 to 40 in the outside lane.

     

    I've lived with the M25 and M1 for 18 months now, still not a fan. M3 is awesome mind, just a lot of unmarked patrols but no evvvvvvil cameras, road works and the small 50 coming off from the M25 excepted.

  4. 4C looks awesome. There is meant to be a 159 replacement due next year (originally this year) and guess the Brera will be next in line after that if they follow the same approach of sharing the same platform.

    Scary how cheap some of these are getting, there's a good example of a UK Chilli up by Newcastle going for £6500 with <60k miles on the clock.

  6. Work's travel dept had booked me a hire car which was defaulted to being the lowest economy class possible (think Pug 107 etc) and by the time I had noticed it, it was too late. With a 180mile trip to make I wasn't looking forward to it, imagine my joy then the next day when I was handed the keys to a Giulietta with only 3800 miles on the clock :yahoo:

     

    Surprisingly fun for a diesel and not a bad place to spend a few hours.

     

    It has me thinking naughty thoughts about buying a Brera actually.

  7. You know, now that Friday's shenanigans has forced my hand I could be interested. An MY06 was the aspiration, but the additional BHP puts the quotes up many hundreds. The higher mileage was putting me off a bit (more reselling it in a one or two year's time) if I ever start working in the city properly.

     

    Not exactly easy for me to get to you now, but going to be working in the Bedford area in one or two week's time.

    In the age of digital cameras most Photographers are, even the professionals, although hard disk space is now the limiting factor considering some raw images can be in the 100s of MB. Even for that 10% you still need to have thought a bit about the angles, focus, light etc.

     

    Penguins are brilliant, saw many more on my trip - the weirdest encounter was meeting some on a beach with some ducks walking by. Then tracing their steps back to a field and finding a huge colony, with new borns and skeletons, in a field also full of sheep. Cute as they are, they tend to have significant odour problems.

  9. I've got something like grade 1 whiplash - basic soreness in lower neck, like if you've been hunched at a computer for too long. Bruised my leg too. Not bothered to see a doc, will just keep it moving and stretching it out.

     

    I probably made impact at circa 50, having slowed from 60\70. Can see the mark is quite high up the barrier but it did its job well - the step out channels the force into the wheels then the body hits the wall. Still can't piece it together perfectly, doubt I ever will.

     

    Trying to work out what vehicle I want to be in next, had been looking at Zeds, but don't strictly need wheels right now. Might be worth getting some track tuition or IAM courses mind...

  11. I get sent to some random places in my line of work - whether that is 5* business class fun in the Med (OK it happened once) or some place in the middle of nowhere with Acme Airlines (happens quite a bit). Not always great, but always something cool to photo. I don't often get much time to compose a photo but think I've caught some cool pieces.

    My gym, 3 mins from my flat - a few km around, handy tree branches for chin-ups and the various pontoons are good for sit\pressups while the ducks and swans come over to check you out. Oh and the view is nice. Shame I don't go there much.

  12. Yeah its pretty unbelievable really, but it certainly happened. Got recovery bloke on his way over with £70 for it, AA charged me £108 so £30 and loss of the car which was only worth a few hundred on trade in\scrap anyway. I got very lucky.

     

    Wondering about how I should handle the insurance side of things - nothing to claim for as far as I can tell and a record on their system would mean higher premiums later? 99% sure I should be calling them anyway in case highways get in touch. Heh my vision of Zed ownership may go back a few years thanks to my new risk category. I'm alive though, and you couldn't tell what happened by looking at me.

  13. I dropped a better description into the safe driving thread, but by all rights I have just been incredibly lucky.

     

    In essence: I span 360 degrees, on rh side of an m.way, in rush hour. Missed every other car and ended up smashing into the concrete central reservation (lucky it wasn't armcote). I bruised my leg.

     

    Not sure exactly what happened now, all I know was I was starting to move into the central lane when I noticed a car coming up fast on my LH side - I had a wtf!?! moment and I react by moving back to the right, look forward and the car in front is braking... hard. 'Oh no' says I. Guess the combination of the change of direction, and the braking to avoid car in front was too much for the tyres. Next thing I hear is the tyres screech, and I'm spinning.

     

    So having bounced off the huge concrete blocks, I'm facing the right way on the M.way but in RH lane. Restart car and limp onto RH hard shoulder. Call the police and chill out. Some minutes later the highways agency come along and escort me to the right side of the road. Recovery vehicle called out and they are on their way. Unmarked police car called by, but no statements taken, no breathalyser no photos, nothing. Some paint left on the huge eff off reservation. Car will be scrapped by the recovery bods and that's about it - front suspension died, bumper and wings shunted back by a good inch all over, but the huge engine bay was an awesome 'crumple zone'. The air bags didn't even fire.

     

    So what happens next? No one else stopped, and I can't see any other impact marks on the car. Should I expect a call from the police for a statement? A bill from the highways guys for removing the paint for the barrier and some spillsorb for the spilt water (I leaked a bit of washer fluid, maybe coolant too)?

  14. I nearly got killed 5 hours ago. 70Mph 360 degree spin in RH lane of a motorway, ended up crashing into concrete central reservation. Combination of a reaction to someone starting to undertake me as I was moving into the lane (having previously mirrored and signalled as a good boy should) and then seeing the car in front braking hard. Split second choice. Something went wrong and I think it was the back that spun out. Maybe I even made the right choice as I avoided both the car in front and the undertaking vehicle.. somehow.

     

    Walked away with no more than a bruised leg and a shed that was bordering on scrap value anyway.

     

    No police interest so far, no statement\ breathalyser etc. Only a black mark on the concrete, and some tyre marks to show what happened.

     

    Lesson: You can know what to do when discussing theory, but the moment when things conspire to all go wrong at the same moment you only have 0.5 seconds to react, not even that, your instincts will take over. Don't expect people to follow all the rules of the road.

  15. Its alright, I'm away all day tomorrow which is the scheduled time for ending so no opportunity to think it over further. I'm already looking at new adds and trying to work out what the best colour really is B)

     

    For what it is worth, I reckon the chap is being pretty square about it or using some great psychology by mixing in a great deal of truth with some deceit.

     

    I bought the car from a classified advert in February this year from a dealer in Lancashire. The sellers were a reputable company who buy vehicles direct from trade only auctions, often without seeing the vehicles direct from the insurance companies.

     

    I was informed the 350z was subject to an insurance claim not because it was accident damaged but because it was stolen - with its own keys - and recovered after the insurance company had paid out 12k to the previous owner from Farnborough Hampshire. Therefore only minor repairs were neede to the car for example the front bumper has been painted.

     

    The HPI database states Category D (accident damage did not exceed the pre-accident value)which backs this up.

     

    Obviously I wanted to confirm the car's history as the service book was not with the car. The dealer thought it was probably still with the insurance assessor or insurance company, who tend to hold on to them.

     

    I called Barron's Specialist cars who had previously sold the car. As their name is clearly visible on a sticker on the rear window and on the number plates. I checked with them, the date of the previous MOT and they confirmed the mileage when they carried out the MOT and service when they had it. I also downloaded a Government VOSA listing of all previous MOT's and they also support the mileage which is now 33k miles.

     

    So there you have it, it's a low mileage car that has not suffered any major accident damage. I've done about 4k in the car and it's been great fun and has run perfect, I've changed three of the wheels as they had minor kerbing, the rear brake pads, and two new year tyres. It's had an oil change.

     

    What can I say it's a nice car it even has the later facelifted leather interior, rear LED lights etc.. I really like these cars and it was an opportunity to won one for a while I also have a Nissan GTR and can't keep both.

     

    I'm starting to think I'm selling it too cheap and may just stop the auction.

  16. There we have it - Car was stolen from Farnborough (took keys from the house) but recovered after insurance paid out. Guess the new 'owners' were not too careful with it as repaint of the bumper was needed afterwards. Sold at auction into the trade market, and the seller picked up in March. No S/H as was left with original owner or insurance company, but apparently can be followed up with the original dealer.

     

    Chap apparently has a GTR! Surprised he's not on here, or the other forum really. I'm going to be away all day tomorrow so can't really follow it up now, he's thinking about pulling the auction anyway.
