  1. You can rent a helmet for £10, additional driver for £10, passenger for £10.

I doubt you will go through much tread if it's your first trackday. When I went with my 350z on Falken 452s I didn't really make much of a difference in them as I was taking it easy!

    It's £179 for the day.

Insurance is optional, speak to your insurer to see if and how much it would be for the day, go without any or speak to a specialist 1 day track insurer. When I went I didn't bother, there are loads of reasons to get insurance, loads to not get it, completely up to you.

And yes, I will run out of fuel before I run out of tread :p

  2. Forgot to say, it's not an open pit lane; where you can go on and off track as much as you want throughout the day. But it follows a session format.

Once all the cars arrive at the track they split you into 3 groups. First group runs for 20 minutes, then comes off and second group goes on for 20 minutes, then comes off and the third group have their 20 minutes.

It means you're only on track for 20 minutes per hour but as anyone that has been to a track day before, that really is all you need unless you're car is track focused. Brakes/tyres/engine will need cooling after 20 minutes of driving round a track. It should also mean that you get put with people of similar experience/speed.

  3. Now that we've had a few drive out's around Wales and the Peak District I thought a few of you might be interested in a bit of fun on track!

It's a "novice only" trackday aimed at people with less than 3 trackdays under their belt. I went to this exact one around 2 years ago in my 350z and it was an awesome day. You don't have to worry about people constantly overtaking or having to move over all the time to let people through as most people there take their time round the track as it's their first go to. The guys there also take you out on a sighting lap so you get to see the course at a slow pace.

You can book some tuition for £25 which is well worth it after a few hours as the difference a well trained driver/instructor can make is incredible.

It doesn't matter what car you take really as there are always people in things you never thought you'd see on track like diesel astras, skoda yeti's etc

I'll be booking it this week so just thought I'd drop it on here to see if anyone else fancied it.

One thing to note, there are noise restrictions so if you have a loud exhaust I'd get it measured (db wise) to check if you'll pass the 105db (static) and 92db (drive-by) tests.

  4. I'm not deaperate, just impatient :D

Another drive out sounds good, I'm also thinking of a track day at Oulton Park in August if anyone is interested. There's a "novice only" day which I did a couple of years ago in my 350z and it was good fun.

It's aimed at people with little or no track day experience so there aren't any stupidly fast drivers or loons hooning around which gives you time to get a bit of confidence up.

  5. Great day out, the drive back on the A5 was great. No traffic and just 3 of us made it good fun!

We'll definitely have to go straight to the evo triangle next time as I've not driven round there yet, sounds like you had good fun after we left. I don't think I would've made it all the way round anyway as I got home with 20 miles left in the tank!

Matt, just let your brother know at least I know my new brakes work ok :D Nah, it's fine, we overtook someone and then he wanted me to go past him as well just as I was going to slot in behind him, quick jab on the brakes then a full boot again quickly sorted that out.

When I eventually get round to moving house I'll buy a 350z again so I don't show you guys up in the straights ;) Epic noises through the tunnels though, Niall has a couple of quick videos from inside the car that I'll stick up somewhere.

  6. GoPro sounds good! I've got new cameras in the car but they still don't like the noise. Not as much crackle as the last ones but still not GoPro quality.

I'll let Niall know there should be spaces in peoples cars to get about, seems a decent lad and the photos he takes look good!

  7. Well the DI can't handle much pressure anyway which is why I've bought the hose. Otherwise I would've ust connected it to my pressure washer.

Someone on DW has their DI connected to their pressure washer and it works fine. We shall see! Paid extra and got 30 days money back on the hose so if it's @*!# I'll get my money back.
