  1. It's very hard to make a profit on guitars unless you really know what you are getting. Antique guitars, well for me that would be pre-war Martin guitars as a minimum, those will go for in excess for £15000. Anything made of prohibited woods is worth a pretty penny now too (such as Brazilian Rosewood). Vintage Brazilian Rosewood guitars are worth a lot. This 1930's Martin for example has a label price of $72000! http://www.dreamguitars.com/detail/2179 ... 045_41539/

"Vintage" guitars would be old guitars from the 50s & 60's. A first generation Les Paul is worth a fortune and so are many other old Gibson & Fenders.

Acoustic guitars is more my thing though and I would be more sure of what I was getting as I don't really touch electric guitars any more.

Some of the most knowledgeable people I have ever known on guitars are found here: http://www.acousticguitarforum.com/ although acoustic guitar is the main thing here, they do have an electric section. Some of the guys are collectors and world famous guitar builders.

  2. Buster (not named after the person :p):

He's only been on the car once, I have to have to raise the seat up so it keeps him scooped up. With his seatbelt harness he's okay, I just worry about the leather.

  3. I've said before this is the best idea out there. Is it France where the motorway speed limit is about this high but when it rains it reverts to a lower speed? We should have a set speed of 80mph and if it rains/snows/ice it should be dropped lower. 80mph is enough, to keep people happy and then anyone who breaks this limit has no excuse. Make it 80mph and enforce it to prevent the "unofficial" limit climbing to 90mph with the same issue we have now.

  4. Looks good. The sunset is probably the hardest colour to get stuff to colour coordinate with also.

I want to get one in red to go on my blue zed. I'm bored of the "Z" burgers already and after seeing Cragus' car with the red callipers I think it's time to go for the red on blue look.

  5. Whilst I am far from a PC building expert, I have built several over the years. I am quite into recording music, games, high definition video etc and I am a self confessed gadget freak. My last PC which I built myself cost me ~£1000 to build, it was at the time a very high spec computer. When looking around to build a new one, I found it was actually cheaper to have it built for me. That said, the arse has fallen out of the custom PC building market. There is probably ONE good company left (which is the one I use). Mesh computers has gone into administration as did Vadium, Commodore's new adventure into custom PC's and a lot of others.

There are people out there who still want custom PC's (hell I'm one of them), the issue is that some the profit margins aren't huge unless you buy so many parts at once from suppliers to save money. PC Specialist is probably the best company in the UK now. I have bought two from them (got one for my dad also recently). Their level of customer service is very good (which is why Mesh failed) and their prices are actually better than sourcing components yourself (which never used got be like that).

My new PC is a toy really. I bought it with the intention to upgrade it when I want to. It has some pretty high end stuff (which is already out of date). One thing I do like are SSD's... booting a PC up in about 10-20 seconds is quite good when you're in a rush to do something.

The one thing custom companies have over 99% of commercial companies like Dell, Hewlett Packard etc is knowledge. Almost all computers in PC World, Comet and Currys are terrible. They are slow, ineffective, poorly made and outdated. Unfortunately, these companies prey on those who don't know a great deal about computers and sell people junk. My dad went there a while back and asked for a computer that he could use his full HD camera & his DSLR camera on for editing. They sold him a computer without any HD graphics capability and a monitor which couldn't handle full HD even if the PC could. I didn't even let him unbox it and took it back. They still tried to say it was capable of full 1080p work... If more people were wise of their sales tactics and the state of what they are selling, I think custom PC companies would flourish more.

  6. Well it's all going a bit crazy over here, especially in Auckland. Not sure why?! :p:p:p:lol::lol: Must be something major happening tomorrow night. :p:lol::yahoo::thumbs:

Forecast is perfect for the fireworks tomorrow night. Hopefully the forecasters got it right this time. :headhurt::lol:

A lot of businesses in Auckland are shutting up early, town, actually the whole city will be madness, many streets in the CBD closed to traffic, pedestrians only. Lots of people organising good viewing points for watching fireworks. Every 5th car or less cruising around with RWC flags attached to theirs cars with applicable countries flags, be whatever they might be supporting.

They're now expecting 100k plus around the Viaduct/CBD to enjoy the festivities tomorrow night.

This is your reporter from Auckland, over and out for the moment. :p:lol::lol: Will have updates as we have them. :p:thumbs:

I think we collectively hate you right now . I work shifts so hopefully I can catch most of the games I want to however my shifts are due to change and that could mess things up for me. I'd love to be out there to watch it.

  7. A guy from work is moving to Australia next month. He is a big car fan and was looking for a 240z and a 350z for him and his other half when they move. All I can say... the prices :scare: very expensive...

  8. They'll just whack average speed cameras at 100m intervals then people cant speed down there. ATM I'm guessing they have them on entry and exit, so people drive in and stop, wait for a bit, then gun it.

I'm with Chris though, its probably a lot more to do with the noise than the actual speed. I'll eat my words though when a footballer inevitably stacks it

If you change lanes after passing the first camera, average speed cameras don't work ;).
