  1. Sometimes sky act as an intermediatry and are tied to what the third party might say, so for example they might have a remap tick box, regardless of whether its 10 or 50bhp, my experience of Sky, which on the whole has been very good was that I paid an initial high% increase for adding a couple of mods, and that then things didnt add hardly anything, but obviously you still have to declare them.

I have 2 cars with them now..

Update on this after speaking with Ollie @ Sky, and basically confirms what you thought MrLizard. As far as the underwriter is concerned, an ECU remap on any car attracts a standard increase in premium in light of the fact that if you have other mods the power gains could be significant (in the case of the zed I guess FI etc).

So now I just have to decide whether to bite the bullet and go for uprev!

Must say thanks to Ollie for a very speedy response on this and Sky's continued good customer service

  2. You told them that the purpose was to increase the mpg though?

Haha tbh I didn't(!), and the only thing they asked was how much extra power it would give. I said hardly anything, 10bhp if I'm lucky and that was that. Might PM Ollie @ Sky as the increase does seem pretty excessive and I could have explained it a lot better to them..........!

  3. Hi All,

Has anyone had any luck getting their cars insured after an UpRev? I just phoned my insurer (Admiral) to ask about the increase to my premium if I added de-cats, changed y-pipe and UpReved. Apparently they'd charge £50 PA for the de-cats and y-pipe (classed as a full exhaust basically) but they said they wouldn't cover the upRev (ECU mapping) at all as it's apparently high-risk!

And I was going to put a deposit down with Abbey today as well... GRRR!:rant:

    Haydn.

Sorry to hear that Haydn. I took out a new policy with Sky this year and have just got off the phone with them to see what effect adding uprev to my car would have on my policy. They will cover it......for a 25% premium increase. Ouch :scare:

Unsure weather to go ahead now!

  4. Ok! It's yours! I'm based in south Cheshire. If you PM me your details I'll send you PayPal gift details?

Just sent you a PM

Cheers! Mat posted yesterday so should arrive by week-end! Enjoy!! :yahoo:

BTW Can I interest you in a private plate for your Zed? :teeth:

Mat was waiting for me when I got home from work this evening. It's great nick too so many thanks Rob, top stuff :yahoo:

Private plate looks tempting but my next outlay is for buddy club pro spec so no can do on that one! Bets of luck with selling it though.

  5. Yeah, I would have definatly bagged and toweled that back end up though, especially as it'll be filthy later. The main advantage I found with dropping the forks out is that it all sits snugly inside the boot area, and with the luggage net on, doesn't slide anywhere. Especially useful for engaging with those fine Scottish A-roads on the way. :drive1

Yep I def wished I'd put something on it come the return journey! Been meaning to pick up a luggage net for my boot and will try dropping the fork out next time I think! Have taken to getting on the train with the bike recently to get outside the M25.......or taking advantage of mates with more 'practical' (boring) cars

Any of you guys seen/used one of these..........

Look pretty cool but not sure I want risk damaging the crappy Nissan paint!

  6. Saw the pics of a zed consuming mountain bike a few pages back and thought you guys might be interested in this.......it can be done without removing fork/handlebars......but I wouldn't recommend it! Bit of a ball ache. Involves lots of swearing, moving of electric seats, and extreme danger to leather upholstery.........

  7. Thanks for all the welcome messages guys :)

Andlid, no uprev as yet. Exhaust is coming first.......after much deliberating I'm gonna go for the Buddy Club Pro Spec. Sounds nnnnnnnice from what I've heard :teeth: Talked to Abbey and they said uprev is definately worth it as it improves 1st and 2nd gear response quite a bit, as well as more oomph, so I'm on the slippery slope to some serious wallet emptying! Cheers for your kind words about my car bud

  8. Hi everybody,

Just joined the forum after lurking around for a while so wanted to write a quick intro!

I'm 32 and based in South West London. I got my zed late last year (just in time to have a couple of extremely nerve wracking drives in the snow!). Prior to that I had a Focus ST170 for a few years and before that a couple of 1.9 205 Gti’s.

Based on stuff I read on the forum I’ve already been down to Abbey Motorsport a few times for alignment and P3 service. Great people there and will be going back when I eventually decide what exhaust to go for and whether to get uprev!

Below is a link to a pic of my pride and joy in the car park of a random services off the M40! No other decent photos yet but will try and take a few after the next wash and post ‘em up. Hopefully you guys can see this photo - am a bit new to this flickr lark haha.

    Thanks for reading!

    Cheers
