  1. Considering with UpRev and minor mods on a 350Z you'll only looking to achieve what the manufacturers state as the standard BHP with maybe a few more unnoticeable horses and the main reason for doing this is to make the car more responsive with an added benefit of extra MPG it's a shame insurance companies don't consider this more on a car by car basis, maybe they could except dyno figures as an estimate although I guess they could be faked by a friendly tuner.

  2. I've had all my cars mapped and crashed them all. Never had any issues at all. It's upti yourself if u want to take the risk

lol, are you talking about risking the insurance not paying or crashing because of the remap?? Perhaps you should take advanced driving lessons instead of a remap next time? :p:p

  3. Well it's only £47.50 to cancel my insurance with Admiral - it may be worth phoning around and see if I can get a good deal elsewhere before deciding. I have 0 NCB though (no accidents or convictions, just not owned my own car for a while) so that might rule me out of the forum things but still worth a shot.

  4. Hi All,

Has anyone had any luck getting their cars insured after an UpRev? I just phoned my insurer (Admiral) to ask about the increase to my premium if I added de-cats, changed y-pipe and UpReved. Apparently they'd charge £50 PA for the de-cats and y-pipe (classed as a full exhaust basically) but they said they wouldn't cover the upRev (ECU mapping) at all as it's apparently high-risk!

And I was going to put a deposit down with Abbey today as well... GRRR!:rant:

    Haydn.

  5. I just compared my postcode (SW London) against yours on compare the meerkat and got exactly the same quote so maybe it's not area based... wish I hadn't though, 30 seconds after getting a quote I got a phone call asking if I wanted insurance!

  6. Im 28 with 7yrs no claims and with Direct Line aswell, mine went from £380 to £490 this year and i was peeved with that! I feel fortunate now.

Makes me think there were a lot of thefts or something in the OP's area. What's your postcode?

  7. Personally I'd ring the experts and take advice from someone who's done plenty of testing on a dyno. I'm going for panel filters, motordyne ART decats (they look sooo sexy), motordyne y-pipe with racing cat and a remap (no plenum spacer as I have a HR engine)... guess whose advice I'm taking. :D

  8. if i ever get a Celica GT4 then i will set it up with a full rally style fog setup. and you'll know when i switch it on at night as entire villages will suddenly experiencve full daylight even in the middle of the night.

Ooooh you'd HAVE to have the full red+green Castrol livery though.

  9. If the fog lights are so bright I'm dazzled I'll often stop and let him pass (if safe, i.e: not on the motorway), I figure if I can't see and make it so he can't see we're fairly likely to drive in to each other!
