  1. Haha - I wonder if these dudes have been on rolling road to see how many horses they have!
  2. HAHA - I did do a lot of homework, but I don't think I read anything about cleaning Mitt and Towel after - I notice the label on towel said you can wash it with similar products but not to use fabric softner! They are currently hanging from my towel rail in the kitchen to dry off Given the car a good hoover and clean with a damp cloth inside as well now - I wish my mind was as clean as the car!
  3. Bird @*!# was the priority - it really needs a clean inside. I've never obsessed over a car I've owned as much as this - I can honestly see me washing it again this wknd as I just did a quick job on it! By the way whats the protocol for washing Mitt and Towel - suggestions ? (is it just cold water rinse?)
  4. It's "midnight blue" apparently - - I didn't do the wheels or the exhaust as I'm "ahem" working from home just now, so didn't have time. I plan to do some hoovering inside the house and a wee dash inside the car before I clock off at 5pm - I'm paying the cost for being the boss ;-)
  5. Hi Guys Had the car for about 2 weeks now. Washed it last wknd, but after burning it up the past week there was a load of dead flies on the front and some bird lovingly shat on the bonnet this morning so I thought I would treat the car to a wash (went and bought the meguiars lambswool mitt + drying cloth + meguiars car shampoo and conditioner (sounds more like vidal sasson)) So FINALLY here are some pics of my car - ENJOY!!!
  6. WOW and I mean WOW!!! I'm always amazed at how good everyones cars looks after a good detail. I don't suppose u work at SLB in Inverurie and know Jim Watson do you? I have a funny feeling you might be the dude that did the detail job on his Jag.
  7. When I was looking to sell my last car I asked round my work about valet services and one guy recommended them. I checked out their website http://www.polishedbliss.co.uk/ and even called them up. I actually told them I was impressed with their website, as I work in IT. Nice guy and they are booked up for a month or 2 he said. Nice to see a local business doing well. On a strange day of coincidences after researching cleaning, polishing and detailing stuff I drive into work and one of the guys has a N reg Celica GT4 and it's looking showroom condition. He did it at his mates over wknd, cracking job. I'm well keen on getting it looking right. You fancy having a look
  8. Thanks a lot for the advice guys! Gonna buy myself a couple of mitts and some Dodo Lime Green tomorrow and have a bash at the wknd - too scared of the clay at the minute (I am a noob after all) - can anyone recommend a good wax?
  9. I live in Sunny Aberdeen (well actually Inveurie to be precise - 16 miles out of Aberdeen) Thanks for all the advice guys - still thinking about just going for wash, dodo lime prime + polish and then wax this wknd and see how it looks after that. There is a PRO detailing place in Kintore (for those of you who know NE of Scotland) - dude at work put his 6 series Beemer in there and got a FULL detail job inside and out - cost him 1500quid though, but he said it was worth every penny. Don't think I have that sort of pennies to throw at the job though!
  10. Hi Guys Please excuse my ignorance and hopefully someone can help me with all the confusion I have. I've had my car about a week and it was driven up to me so when it arrived it was a bit dirty - I cleaned it this wknd to find some light scratches on some of the panels (I guess from the previous owner) - so it's an 08 plate car and apart from the light scratches it's bodywork is in pretty good condition. So I've read so many articles (on here and across the internet) about cleaning methods - it's clear I need to get myself 2 buckets, a lambswool mitt (or 2), but it's the rest I'm not sure about. I've read good/bad things about claying a car and with mine being an 08 plate is this really necessary - I guess if there is nothing to remove it will just gloss over the surface without a problem. I'v read about Dodo Lime Prime and this looks like a good product I could use to try and remove the tell tale scratches on some of the panels. Is this the best method or should I be claybarring it?? I'm also confused about the process (and volume of products) I should/shouldn't be using. From what I have read the following steps are the perfect ones.... 1) Rinse with water 2) 2 Bucket car shampoo clean and dry 3) Claybar car 4) Rinse and dry 5) Pre wax cleaner (Dodo Lime prime) 6) Wax car Will all these steps be necessary? I'm also overrun with what products to get - I don't want to go crazy and just start with the basics - can folk recommend a good wax and do you think missing out the claybar stage and jumping to pre wax and then waxxing after will be enough to touch up the mild scratches? Sorry for the million questions - as I said I have read a lot and I think I've picked up the basics - just a bit unsure and would liek some advice. Thanks a lot guys
  11. Ahhh, just had a read o ef the detailing section. So the marks I have are more scratches than the swirl marks. Excuse my ignorance, will a claybar remove these, they don't look deep scratches but it's still annoying
  12. Hey guys, pics will come soon. Washed the car on Saturday and found some light scratches that have kinda pi**ed me off but they should T cut away. My budget was about 15-16k and I did go over. It cost me £17,800 but with 12months tax (I insisted on this) and it's got manufacuter's warranty until May 2011. I wanted some security with service history, warranty and mileage (which this fitted the bill on all accounts) A mates up next week and helping him fit new wheels to his golf, so weather permitting I'll wash car and see if I can get rid of the mild scrathches - once she's looking all buff I'll get busy with the camera :-)
  13. Hi guys Just to say yesterday morning at 6.30am a man cane to my door with my new car. It's an 08 Coupe in midnight blue. This forum has been a great help and I've got so much information out of it so thanks a lot. I've just come home from a mates house on B roads and I've still got adrenalin pumping round me. Truely awesome!
  14. Yeah it was Senior Ellis that told me that story He's in Oz just now, just mailed him pics of the car!
  15. Hi Guys Sold my old car (206 Gti) last night and have bought myself a 350z It's a 313GT and I'm getting it on Tuesday - WELL excited. So..... a question about Petrol! Is SUPER unleaded really necessary? One of my mates used to have a 350z and met a buy at a Petrol station with a Lambo - the guy in Lambo is filling up with bog standard tesco value juice and they ended up having a conversation where he thought it wasn't worth it!! Whats the general consensus? Hopefully should be posting on here more often now
  16. Hey Guys I live in the North East of Scotland and as such we often get about 30-40 days of snow a year. This is about the ONLY reason I'm considering not buying a zed - I've driven a RWD before in the snow and was up on the pavement and through people's gardens while I was merely a passenger in the car. The alternative I'm looking at is an S3, but it doesn't have the WOW factor of the zed. I've thought about getting snow tyres if I go for the zed - does anyone have any experience with snow tyres or any real general snow stories - as the thought of driving in the snow with 300 ponies going to the back wheels isn't a nice thought!
  17. Hi Guys Just wanted to know if anyone has any experience with Motorpoint (mixed reviews online) Spoke to them today and they will accept my car as a trade-in and I'm looking at a 2008 313GT - 37k on the clock It's 14,999, but with my trade in and their transit expenses included it will be 13,136 - car has manufactures warranty until Mar 2011 This seems like a GREAT deal, but read mixed reviews on internet - he also mentioned that I have to pay a 300quid fee to get the car up to Glasgow for me as a deposit, but if I"m not happy with the car I get this back. Anything else I should be concenred about - he's going to call me back later today to discuss. Any comments/suggestion/advice greatfully received Many Thanks
  18. what sort of price range should I be looking for 313GT ? From what I've seen it's 17-19k mark. I was hoping to trade in my motor as well to take a couple of grand off.
  19. Hi Guys I posted something up yesterday saying I was looking for a 350z and now I've made up my mind and will DEFO get soemthing this month. Money is burning a hole in my pocket. So I was thinking about going for the 313GT model. I was wondering if you guys could tell me the pros and cons of the 313GT model and whether it's worth going for this model or better off with one of the previous models
  20. Hi Guys I found the page with Nurrish's head unit for sale - very swish - viewtopic.php?f=38&t=24395 Has anyone got any tips/advice for going for the Nissan OEM SAT NAV or opting for a Custom job (bear in mind I'm not very mechanically minded - although I do work in IT and I'm pretty good with Techy stuff) Any suggestions or opinions welcome
  21. Hi guys A friend of mine who used to have a 350z recommended these forums as a good place to start for information. I loved his 350z and now it's time to think about upgrading my car I've really got my heart set on a 350z. Although I have a few questions/queries that some of you will hopefully be able to answer.... I'm looking to spend around 15k - looking for a GT model with 35000miles or less (around 3-4 years old) 1) My main stumbling block is having a dog (she's a smallish black lab) - I've seen pictures of boot space and that's no use, but I've also seen seat covers for about 10quid - so would put one on and let her ride shotgun like she does at the minute. Does anyone else have a dog that rides shotgun and any tips/advice? 2) I know the pre April 2006 350z is 190quid tax rather than 400quid in tax - I'd obviously like the newer model (313) if possible, is it worth the extra dunt a year in road tax? 3) My pal had a Jap import and had an aftersales head unit fitted (which was really nice and even had reverse camera that I thought was wicked) - in your opinion am I better (cheaper) buying integrated Sat Nav already in (which is quite important to me) - or buying one with no head unit and using the money I save to buy a swank one - any recommendations as well? I can't think of anything else at the minute - but these are my main concerns and was interested in some feedback from existing owners. If anyone has any tips/advice it would be greatly appreciated. Many Thanks
