  1. Just out of interest, how many miles had you done / what age was it? I understand that the Nismo Y is not brilliant... :(

Good question, I bought the nismo exhaust with some miles on already and it must have been 2-3 years at least now, say, 20k miles on top of what it was when I got it, which I think was not that much, 15k?

May well have been the berk hfcs when I had them on hastened it a bit and no doubt these completely stupid and unnecessary one way traps which scraped them at a park and ride (at sod all mph, the right way).

I think ian swapped his for an ichiba and had no more issues, I may consider the same, depending on how long I want to keep the z.

  2. Had an e46 52 plate m3 before the zed, thought i'd have less issues with the zed.

The 53 plates had some changes, but by its age now I'm guessing most of them will be ironed out, like coil packs etc.

Must say i'm surprised by how much value they still hold.

  3. If you have it declared on an insurance certificate, what more proof do you need?

In fact i'm struggling to see why you need any compensation, they screwed up and sorted it out with what doesn't even sound like much hassle.

Can't say i've ever had this problem with them, but then again I don't know why i'd be entering my reg number each time.

There are some other companies which don't even bother adding modifications you discuss with them in detail over the phone, then find out later on you don't actually have them on your policy.

Admiral are the most straight forward insurer i've dealt with so far.

They certainly don't seem to have any unusual get out clauses in their documentation either, unlike some smaller companies.

  4. You are such a bad boy! You are a criminal. You should be done for life! No shot dead...stoned even better. And that's sarcasm for all the law abiding primadonas that are here to judge in the first instance!

The thread says worth defending not mum I did it and I am sorry.

It's a shame mate but I don't think you can defend it. They don't have to do all of you. You was speeding full stop. If the traffic was doing 120 you wouldn't follow them ;)

Vans can do 30 and take 2 times longer to stop than you. Old people with walking sticks are allowed to drive, autistic people that you would struggle to communicate with drive, old dears with 2 hip replacements drive etc etc. all in the name of mobility and life quality. At the same time the rest have to suffer a 70 on the motorway only because great grandad is using it with his 2 stroke rusty classic car.

I see people every day driving in and out the car park and it makes me cringe as I get a full up to date medical history and I see and talk to them....no sorry help them sit on the chair myself!

They whole lecturing is getting very irritating especially when we all know that it's got as much to do with road safety as the road tax with the Enviroment.

    With regards

    Another criminal

But why speed in a 30? They're full of traffic, houses, people running into the middle of the road and poor visibility.

I'm not saying for one second I haven't exceeded the speed limit anywhere, but if it's in a 30, i'm definitely not sitting at 40 plus constantly.

Chances are if you are, you haven't noticed anything else either.

This complete and utter lack of awareness, not the speed, is dangerous.

  5. Speed signage law must be obeyed. If it's missing (especially on a country lane where there would be no street lighting to enforce a 30) then you have a defence, and I'd have gone through the courts for that.

Cameras don't have to be visible. Speed signs do. If you obey the speed signs then you'll never get prosecuted. I still cannot for the life of me fathom why people bother to speed in 30, 40 or 50 zones, or on the motorway network. It's not fun, and that's where they're looking to get you.

The only excuse I can think of is you're not paying attention to anything, including your speed.

  6. Seems the consensus is - take the 3 points like a man and stop whining!

    Ah well, I was only hoping . . .

All my points have come from silly "Not paying attention in 30 limits" - never got caught doing excessive Zed speeds!

    This make 3 times now, 1st was 39mph, then 41, now 37.

Perhaps I'm just a very slow learner. Mind you, running on 9 points, I don't suppose the Zed will ever get out of 2nd any more. Look on the bright side - I'll get some great mpg figures!

Just a thought, maybe 30mph speed limits are the ones you need to be paying more attention in.

The fact it's 3 times now, you'd hope to have learned after the first or even second time.

  7. Id juyst like to say that RisingPower may seem to be taking the micheal but I totally agree with what hes saying. There seems to be some kind of belief on here that powerful cars can suddenly develop minds of their own ansd steer you off into the nearest ditch/tree/bus shelter of nuns and orphans and it simply isnt true. People drive much lighter, more powerful and more vicious cars every day of the week in all manner of conditions, with traction contolr on or off and they are still there to do it again the next day.

If you dont feel in control of your 3/4/500hp car in any conditions other than sheet ice you should consider buying something a bit slower, frankly. Maybe the incident Lexx refers to was unavoidable, but if that was the case any other car would have done the same.

Im with RT, the car is great fun in the snow but as I cant trust anyone else it stays at home ........ until its late and everyone else is off the road :D

You'd always like to say I seem to be taking the michael ;)

You don't drive anything faster. I mean cmon, your only other car is a pug right? :p

  8. Completely agree.

Sh*t can happen in any car, so you'll never be able to eradicate the oil/diesel/ice mishaps that can effect all of us. Your best tool is your right foot and a dose of common sense.

Agree..... with falkens? ;):p:lol: Cmon, you knew I had to :teeth:

  9. Run gts for hmm at least a few winters now.

Even really keeping on top of them, they will corrode at the point where the dish meets the spokes.

That and its a fecker caring for them in the summer, let alone with all the crap in the winter.

If you can, run the 18s.

Ok thanks - that rules the Volks out then.

That was with rinsing them down after each trip, washing at least every week and keeping wax topped up  Problem is i'd need a whole set of tyres on the 18s and i'm a sucker for the looks of the volks

  10. Run gts for hmm at least a few winters now.

  11. falkens on the XKR and on the last car, both driven in snow, both been fine. i alwyas took the corners knowing i was going to slide, and drove it like a drift car  all at low speeds, great fun for the drive to work. my issue in that weather though was not the snow or the car, it was other drivers in the snow, as most road users don;t seem to know how to drive in the snow.

i drove my old zed in the snow on barely legal re040's in the snow, very twitchy, but i didn't die.

Good gawd man, you ran falkens.... On something with 400 horses... You're still here?!?!

  12. Not at all mate.

    But why take the risk?

All I did was change lanes at 25mph, hit a patch of ice, span 720 degrees, almost wiping out 2 other cars.

It's easy done the more powerful the car is as you use less throttle. A slight tap too hard on some ice or slush etc and you are facing the wrong way.

I drove my Zed in the winter as it was my only car, but it only had OEM power, and if it even looked like going below 5 degrees I used public transport.

Why take any risks at all?

Gawd does everyone here spin out and crash at the slightest hint of bad weather? The only issue i've had in the zed last winter was I wasn't able to get it around a corner with some camber and a slope, it was fine otherwise.

    On, wait for it.... Falkens!!!

Change lanes or apply some power whilst changing lanes?

The vxr8 is no doubt an entirely different beast to the 350z, doesn't it make pretty much all the power from low revs?

You can have an accident at any time, does that mean you should stop driving? What about patches of oil, they don't only happen in bad weather?

  13. You have completely missed the point.

It doesn't matter what you do to a 500bhp Zed, it's gonna be crap in winter weather. Abbey can't stop you sliding on ice/snow etc.

Hell, not even God can help you with that one.

    I honestly give up.

Urr does having 500bhp mean you're always using all of it? Correct me if i'm wrong but does that supercharger makes all that power from sod all revs?

People are so scared of the zed as it is in winter, simply don't get why tbh.

  14. Besides, if you have the brembos or proper brakes, no way the 17's would work :p

    Spacers ;)

Cheat, would still ruin the handling though for different reasons :p

17" JDM wheels do fit over brembos.

Oops  Maybe I was thinking of the stoptech 6 pots.

  15. I should add that the car is perfectly good on 19's, they dont detract from the handling or ride like they do on a 200SX, for instance :)

Heyyyy, I noticed the handling wasn't quite as snappy and the ride isn't so great, but that's the fact the profile went down, not that they're 19's. Though that's sort of inevitable with going to 19's.

More that the extra width really makes it tramline

Besides, if you have the brembos or proper brakes, no way the 17's would work :p
