  1. Help with what? You hav'nt asked a question!

The report should tell you everything you need to know. The gears are quite crunchy in the Zed anyway but I would get a quote / rough figure for the cost of the work and negotiate that off the price. Gearboxes are expsnive when they go!

Same with brake pads but this is obivously less of an issue.

My main concern in your position would be the gearbox. If you're not 100% on it walk away! There will always be another and it's the old addage 'looks too good to be true, then it probably is'.

  2. Absolutely, I judge people for poor spelling. Bad grammer (kidding  ) probably annoys me even more.

Having said that I know I'm a pompous arse that should be glassed............

P.S It is just us all getting old and being penickety. Language is continuing to evolve. We don't write in the same way William Shakespeare did and that's really no different than whats happening with text speak. Sure good 'ol Billy Shake got driven mental by young upstarts writing as we do now. ;)

  3. A third party inspection by the RAC or similar is an absolute must in this case. To be honest for a Cat D on that plate I think you should go for 5 to 51/2 absolute tops.

Don't let your heart run away with you here. You don't want to get stuck with a turkey! Do your homework, be thorough and you'll be OK.

  4. The rear and side skirts are in blade silver... but the front end has just got primer  As everyone has said.... it will prob take time to sell but that doesnt bother tbh. I will just need to wait until the right buyer comes along. Its a hell of alot of car for 10k

Awesome car by the way and I love it! However I agree with the other comments. In reality unless someone is looking for exactly that car I doubt you'll get an offer of £10k. It's just the nature of moddifying a car. You can never expect to make reasonable money back on it.

Think it's more likely anyone in the market for a modded zed is going to go out and buy a £6k standard import, then spend £4k to get it exactly how they want it. Modding is a very personal thing.

Best of luck though and certainly not a bad deal if you can find the right buyer!

P.S Re not being in a rush to sell, waiting to get £10k for it. It will continue to depreciate, so the longer you wait the less it will be worth.

  5. The last two houses I've owned, the most recent of which I bought with the missus 2 months ago, have both been old, then refurbished, improved and extended.

In my opinion it's the best way as older (pre 1970s have much heavier internal walls so have less noisy internal acoustics and generally built better. Then we're rewiring, new central heating and all mod cons to bring the tech to 21st centuary levels.

Leaves you with a house that's specced better than most NB, more character and is to your personal taste right down to the light switches.

You'll still probably save on buying NB and have a better home, don't kid yourself though redoing and rennovating a house is a massive undertaking and ALWAYS more stress and money then you'll expect.

It's down to personal preference, what you want to get and what you're willing to put into it. Just go into it with your eyes wide open.

    Good luck!

  6. The router thing you refer to is called tethering and the iPhone can do it now with the latest iOS.

Re upgrading I would recommend Apple but hold off for 2 months til the iPhone 5 is released. Buying an v4 now would be utterly retarded! Either wait and get a v5 or wait and get a dirt cheap v4.

Looking at competitors I think HTC are a serious contender. I would stay apple though as it's got the app Market nailed and is still best, though not by a landslide as it was a while back.

  7. The Cayman is 26k more than the Zed!!! :scare::scare:

If I had that money to spend I'd rather buy an ex-demo GTR that would eat all of them. If we're playing a game and you have to spend the money on a new car then a 370Z with £26 dropped into it (supercharger, forged internals, etc etc) would still eat them.

Just crazy to spend that money on those cars. End of!

  8. OK everyone I'm taking the plunge today and buying a machine polisher. Already got Meg's Ultimate Compound (as yet unopened) on forum recommendation, to tackle the swirl marks in my paintwork and getting Dodo Blue Velvet or Purple Haze to wax.

Just want to know what pads (type, brand etc) I should get to start me off? Think the polisher comes with a 5" backing plate if that helps.

Come on everyone. I need your help! :)

  9. If your not doing trackdays go for the ebc, you'll be sound

You work for or sell EBC I assume? I think enough people on here have had problems with EBC that it's not heresay anymore. You can't even measure them for runnout properly apparantly (Scott @ Abbeys words, not mine) because their slotted. All I know is I've had a right ballache with mine, something I've never had with any other brake, on any car.

  10. Have to say when the Zed goes im seriously considering the SLK55 AMG. Good examples around for 19-20k and it would beast any Zed.

I wouln't both with the 200. Why not go for the 350? Good balance and I've heard only good things about the cars themselves. Apaqrt formt he expensive and crap manual gearboxes but everyone knows to stay well clear of Merc manuals........
