  1. I had my old Focus fail for just that reason, except 2 were on the wrong way.

Last time I ever took any car to Dip Shitz (Kwik Fit)!

Went back to the store and confronted them to be offered £100 off voucher. Explained I wouldn't trust them to change my windscreen wipers after that so got a 50% refund on all 4 corners. Result!:lol:

  2. When buying privately, then cash is king.

Nothing works more when haggling than a stack of notes.

BE VERY CAREFUL GOING ANYWHERE WITH £9k IN YOUR SKY ROCKET!

Seriously though, its down to the individual but I would NEVER walk around with that money to hand. Bankers draft or CHAPS transfer. I've heard too many stories of people going to look at cars, envelope full of cash only to be greated by some eastern europeans more than happy to relieve you of it. Cash isnt insured!

  3. "Ministers say motorists who tail-gate, undertake or cut others up often go unpunished and that introducing instant penalties would be more efficient."

I voted police but its a tough call. tryinig to think of it in specific situations.

I think tailgaters are aggressive driving idiots and should get punished on the spot, same for arseholes that weave manicly through traffic but.......... what about the very VERY common situation where evvery nab in the world is sitting in the outside lane and you have two clear lanes of traffic on the inside? I might undertake in that situation and end up getting punished.

    Not sure about it really.

  4. Think I'm gonna get one of thes ein the next month. Is there an experienced DA using member in the south east that would want to show me whats what for the process when I get one? I mini members workshop if you will..................

  5. Nice looking car. Nothing wrong with it but you do realize it's a japanese import right?

Yes i know that. But apart from the Sat Nav is there any problem with that?

Nothing. Just need tO be more careful about their history pre-import, insurance is more expensive and slightly harder to resell. Just wanted to make sure you knew as lots of independent dealers try and pass them of slyly as UK cars.

  6. Your model has the concentric slave set up so they are quite right in saying that the box has to be removed.

There is a NSTB on this fault so best to remind your dealer of that.

Common issue on both the early and later models.

    Alex. :)

Not had this but a great response as always Alex!

  7. I'll let others advise on modding. i'd steer well clear of EBC. Not everyone mut a few, myself included, have had problems with the quality of their stuff. I'd go for Ferrodo pads and DBA discs. They seem to have won universal praise from all that use them.

  8. Insurance companies.... I am sure when coming up with a renewal quote they have a wheel of fortune or play a game of Numberwang to come up with the numbers.

I agree! I've learned alot after reading some of the recent post about playing around with the details on your policy. Nothing fraudulent of course, just strange stuff like changing you job title. Very random!

    Someone should do a sticky..............................

  9. Hi All,

Had the Zed for 18 months now and still only done 4k miles in it. When I first bought it I needed to replace the discs all round. opting for EBC turbogrooves.

Like a few on here I've had problems with vibration building caused by DTV. EBC said whoever fitted the discs didnt check for runout which caused the prob but stangely I've never heard anyone else having this problem with anything but EBC rotors. Abbey skimmed my fronts 1000 miles ago which sorted the problem but vibrations are staring to come back so I think time to just bin the front EBC and start again with fresh dics and pads at front.

Any recommendations for replacements and places to buy? The EBC are about £250 but after the experience I've had I really dont want to 'buy cheap, buy twice' again. However the DBA front rotors I saw were £650 :headhurt::scare: !

Is there a middle ground, a cheaper place to buy or any advice you guys can give?

  10. Echo what the others have said in terms of buying advice but also check the FAQ section on buying.

Hope I'm wrong but I think you'll get utterly punished for your insurance at 21. Ive got a decade on you and 6-7 yrs no claims and it costs me £700 a year.

Pls get a quote before you buy one or you may end up with a lovely car you can't drive!

    Good luck!

  11. Read the buyers guides etc but I would give you two bits of advice.

    - I'd save another grand and get an earlier mid/high mileage UK GT spec zed. Uk will be cheaper to insure long run, GT spec will allow you tO sell it later as non GT specs can be very hard to sell on. Buy cheap, buy twice!

    - be swept up in the process as these are cars for 'passionate' people, but always check paperwork and be meticulous. Don't want to buy a lemon!

Good luck fella and post autotrader links to cars your interested in. Forum members here are really helpful. GL!

    Best,

    J

  12. That's me buddy! :D

Saw yours a couple of weeks back but not since and thought it looked B)

In fact after seeing your tidy Rays it was the final straw and booked mine in for a full refurb! Was actually going to flyer you but just moved in and no printer yet. Seems you 'spotted' me first.....
