  1. Cars is almost back together now, been a little longer than I thought due to work load at my body shop.

I think this car wont have a S/C fitted , kind of want this car to be a demo car for the stage 1 conversion like most people will want.

But I have a feeling that our JDM car may gain a HR motor and maybe a pair of blowers sometimes..... :D

you cant play with any of the traction/ESP yet with the Uprevyet but from what I have found out the UK car,s are different from any other 350Z made/sold, bloody typical of Nissan UK.

Welcome to the Z world thou Jez better start locking my maps thou :teeth:

  3. Glen,

just nipped on here to pick up a PM, I am away from the office tomorrow out testing with Mr Lizard @ Mallory , when I am back in the office on Thursday , I give you a detailed answer to all your questions.

  4. Glen,

we have done loads of cars now , got a real good base of maps to use on cars.

Looking at your list mods , I would say around 8/10 bhp and the same increase in torque if the exhaust is a good system. The throttle response your be amazed at makes the cars come alive.

I would say the car gace around 276bhp (stock) the last time it was run @ TDI , we do a base set up run before we reflash thou.

    Prices is £352-50 inc vat.

  5. How does the remap gain the low down torque lost low down with normal decats, by altering the fuelling/timing?

You can play with the cams as well as the fuel/ignition maps to try to get the best from the car after removing the cats. But we have never found or tuned a car that will have more torque low end without cats than with cats weather they are stock or high flow , but the new MD resonated cats do give the car a little more low end torque but make the motors DE/REV_UP give stonking mid range grunt.

I will get a set on a car with headers fitted DE motor very soon , I think we will see lovely fat midrange torque curves and a few more BHP top end as well. These seem to pull the max bhp rpm down as well which is good.

  6. Fitting fully de-cats will always give around 6/7 lb/ft and 6/7 bhp on top of a car tuned with UPREV with Stock cats. And sound great as well

We have used the new Motordyne resonated de-cats , these give real good mid range torque and no lose at the lower end of the power band.

I will post the price up on the Motordyne thread.

  7. Do you have the gains in figures from base dyno to the remap? whp and torq before and after?? Do you feel the difference in throttle response at all?

it,s on his 1st post above. lower numbers stock higher numbers tweaked!

Was your car totally standard before the Uprev reflash?

Yes , just added HKS filter and the remap.

Mark ( sorry to hi-jack the thread but I cant sleep......to much super unleaded in my lungs)

  8. HR cats are being developed as we speak , flange set up is different between the DE/REV-Up and the HR cars not a easy fix to make fit on both cars.

Will have a price for the DE/REV-UP items tomorrow.

Will have some data re these early next week.

  9. I'm going to say my piece anyway ...

You are now potentially dealing with 2 tuners and this is high-risk for the following reasons:

    - if you have any issues, with the best will in the world, neither will accept full responsibility and neither should they.

    - I am not convinced that both tuners understand both "overlay systems" which you are trying to adopt (uprev and UTEC).

    - the cost will escalate very quickly and you will become disillusioned. It's inevitable

I don't believe that there is any reason why both overlays cannot be run together (as Mark says) but in my view you are changing so many things over stock (fuel system etc) that this represents more risk and will incur higher cost.

If you have any doubts that Thor undertstand your Uprev or any doubts about them, I personally would say "thanks guys, we tried to get it sorted but it hasn't worked out easily" cut your losses and hand the job over to Abbey. This is no disrepsect to Thor or their competence, but just as I see it. So don't please infer anything else

At Abbey, I would delete the UPREV map UNLESS there is any benefit you consider that it adds over and above the UTEC, you should set this against duplication of functions (fuel and timings) because there is no need to have 2 overlays doing the same thing. I had not realised on my earlier post that the UPREV is a re-flash (forgive me I'm not on here much) and thus I detract my advice about going that route. I have always believed that a tuneable reversible, solution is best aka the UTEC/ Haltech for F/I on this car given its flexibility. This is a personal view and it may be that I am not informed as to the best information about the UPREV and how flexible or easy it is to tune.

Long post, usual riders. Good luck, we're all with you on this :)

I do understand how both systems work , but if you have a stock or tuned map in your STOCK ecu the utec is still trying to tweak around them , I am not trying to knock down Thor at all , just that I understand how the stock system works and cant understand how a tuned stock ECU will cause any more problems than stock tuned ecu.

You are not overlaying any multi maps in the UPrev you are tuning the ECU live, no piggy backs or anything.

Not even seen Nurrish,s car so I am not tuning the car at all. Nurrish I here to help give me a ring if you need to.

  10. Had a think , Multi cylinder misfire is normally trigger by lambda,s reading a very rich mixture in the pre Cat lambda,s.

I would say the car is reading the AFR at part throttle and then checking this agaisnt the closed loop map , if the figure is over a certain percentage out it will flag a CEL ( I would say your running very rich as it is F/I) , a misfire will show up as very rich as well , so I feel thats why your car is flag the CEL that you have quoted.

Nurrish , I can tweak your Uprev tuned ECU to stop the CEL light coming up , but the multi cylinder misfire CEL normally puts the car onto the high det map , i.e ignition timing pulled.

  11. Cant understand that 2 people have had the same problem.

    lets get this straight ;

All worldwide 350z use the same ECU plug, even the Revup uses the same plug as a DE car, just has a few extra wires for the extra cam control and the US has a few extra wires for a few things like fuel tank temp and the NATS wire is in a different position.

The only difference between the early US and early JDM cars is that these cars have narrow band lambda,s fitted (the US and JDM cars went wide band 6 month 2005 I think would need to double check) all UK have wide bands fitted from build start.

So only thing I can say is the Utec for a narrow band or wide band car? this could be causing the problems.

Has anyone got a wiring diagram for a Utec that I can have a look at please?

    Mark

  12. MattG,

all cars have closed loop and open loop maps , just the all the UK cars and from 6 month 2005 all other cars had wide bands fitted, this makes the car faster responding while on closed loop.

closed loop map works with the open loop map , the open loop map has to be nearly spot with regards the correct fuelling otherwise the closed loop map has to work to hard to trim the fuel.

Open loop is normally full throttle and over 5000rpm at part throttle.

These engines dont have MAP sensors they have MAF sensors or air flow meters. We can supply a air flow meter to allow us to tune to approx 650bhp @ the flywheel.

hope that is a little more easy to understand.

  13. HKS S/C kit has a horrible u bend in the air filter pipework , always something we have thought would cause a restriction. HKS ways seems to work thou , but your need to fit a smaller battery or move the battery into the boot.

I just had a mail from HKS re the S/C used in this conversion , looks alot bigger than the normal HKS S/C unit thou , but It has got me thinking.....S/C or turbocharger......what will it be I wonder.....LOL
