  1. Just phone a dealer, any dealer, given them the reg plate & ask them the question. If you have the reg plate you should be able to have a guess at which dealer supplied the car, or at least narrow it down, so just call asking whether there is any history you should know about as you're interesting in buying the car (NIssan GB can do this too). Whilst this does seem a breach of data-protection nobody seems to give a @*!# in the motor industry ;) . I always do this to check out a car - it's amazing what you can discover (good & bad).

  2. After a lot of deliberation of what to do with my motor, and not really finding anything else that floats my boat like a Zed, thought I'd see how much it's cost to get me into a younger car, so made an enquiry on a car at Westway. Made my enquiry online on Wednesday night, spoke to them yesterday, noticed this morning that they had a VIP Event - result I thought - the deal might be even sweeter. Not quite so it seems. Pretty average trade-in figure, not a penny knocked off the sticker price, and a frankly ridiculous finance figure of 8.4% flat rate. My initial reaction that I said to the salesman (which is fact) was that I could get behind the wheel of an brand new M3 on lease for less. So, VIP MY ARSE. The Zed stays for longer...

    Which WestWay was it?

Was WestWay in Oldham. They have a nice black GT Edition coupe for £24k which looked good value. Just didn't try at all to put a deal together which is strange given their 'VIP Event'. Like I say, I wasn't drawn in by the 'offer', it just happened to start 2 days after I made an e-mail enquiry. Still, thought they might have tried a bit harder...

  4. Interesting thread. My warranty expires in a month or two's time so this has been on my mind. In fact, with the troubles with my roof, I'm already in talks with Nissan HQ to see where I stand - that's an on-going enquiry... I'm a bit taken aback by the price of this extended warranty, it's about double what I'd have expected. I'm more used to BMW warranties and their hourly service charge, and parts prices, seem a decent chunk higher than Nissan hence expecting a lower warranty price on the Zed. As a matter of interest where did you get the prices from??

  5. You're talking about Marios at AutoShield in Chorlton I guess?? A very nice fella who really knows his stuff. He looked after my 4200 when I owned it, admittedly only briefly, but was a damn site checker than Stratstones Manchester. Make sure you properly test drive the Masser as a mate of mine bought one (an 'S') and was disappointed with it other than the sound. He's a bit picky though so guess there was nothing wrong with his car at all!!! Good luck with it though (I love them too).

  6. Yes, cloning exists, but from a Zed owners point of view it's hardly worth worrying about, The cloner would have to have another Zed in the same colour as yours for it to work - there aren't that many around. Picking on a Silver Golf owner would be much less hassle I'd imagine for the criminal; fecking hundreds around and much less likely to create attention. There are even less Roadsters around so I'm laughing. Also, I've got a pretty recognisable 2-number 2-letter private reg plate, so I reckon I'm as safe as houses :) ...still not telling you my reg plate though :p

  7. Bloody hell Peter (pgraham), damn you, you got a GTR courtesy car - I kept angling after one of those but never came to fruition so just kept having purple Note's, Then again the dealer mine was being sorted out at wasn't a HPC so was difficult to organise - they did try but the other dealer in the chain wasn't willing to let a GTR go (fair enough I suppose). Did everything get sorted out?? Mine has just been back as the passenger window started letting air in (sounded like the window was down a touch) so guess they adjusted the window so not to catch the fabric too much. Quickly resolved but only time will tell whether it now catches the fabric again.

  8. This might not be a dodgy as it first looks. Depends really whether this chap just called you out of the blue (perhaps having seen your car advertised elsewhere) in which case I wouldn't trust them. However, I know of two traders who will gladly sell your car on your behalf, you can either leave the car with them (easier for them to sort out test-drives if required) or advertise your car on their website whilst you still use the car (you obviously have to take the car to the trader if a test-drive is required).

This chap, local to me, has sold numberous cars of friends & family without problem whatsoever both with the car left with him or from a distance. http://www.cfcsales.co.uk/ So good eggs are out there - he only charges something daft like £300 upon sale and he handles all queries.

Like I said, if this chap contacted you directly, then I'd be on edge, but many traders do work in this fashion. I'm not too sure of the legalities if it all went pearshaped, I've not used this guy directly, so don't know what paperwork is involved.

  9. I agree but only just noticed it as being a problem. It has happened before but worked shortly after so put it down to bring a little glitch. Drive around for 5 mins and it usually works so maybe not enough to warrant a change of vehicle purely down to this.

  10. My rule of thumb is that if I'm not warm enough with the windows up, without the heater blaring out (heated seats allowed!), then it's roof up.

You're quite cocooned sat low down in the Zed you're pretty well protected.

  11. Will, your analysis was stop on, my language was colourful yesterday - felt a bit daft cursing at a button!! So fecking annoying - surely as a grown adult (!?!?) I can judge whether the inner workings would be frozen or not - but 7 degrees was just stupid. Worked eventually (was more glad it went up again having been parked at work all day with the hood down!!).

I'd never heard of such problems if Im honest.

At least I had fewer folk screwing tosser at me for a change :)

  12. ...a bloody Roadster that refuses to lower the hood when it's a little 'brisk'?!?!

Yesterday, 7 degrees, beautiful fresh sunny day, yet my bastard hood refused to retract due to health & safety/nanny state meddling no doubt - grrr.

Hood decided to work 10 minutes into my journey.

Rant over - thanks for listening!

  13. I'll have owned my 370Z (my third Zed car now) for 2 years in April which has just flown by and is also the longest I've kept a car for a long time. Whilst I have been looking to sell my car I really don't want to but workwise a more frugal alternative might make more sense. If I were to change I would no doubt end up back in another Zed at some point (390Z?). I think it's a fantasic car, every journey is an experience, and a thrill. The extra bark that my Stillen provides adds that extra bit of spice too.

  14. Defo give one a whirl and see how you like it.

I'm not convinced about the 370Z falling a great deal further; they surely can't?!?! Yes, the 350Z has already dropped as they are older & more plentiful, but the used car market is shite at the minute so surely you could get yourself a steal if bullish enough and protect yourself to a degree against further depreciation?? Put it this way, for the budget you're talking about, there are some very good examples available and a buyers market so make a daft offer and you might just land one for a good price. I reckon my car has bottomed out value-wise for a while, I struggle to see it loosing a massive amount over the next 6-8 months, if lose anything at all. Obviously if I wait too long then winter will kick the values again. The new 'GT' Zed is so similar I think its introduction has bearly caused a ripple and certainly not troubled resale values of older cars too much. The new NISMO seems too expensive for what appears to be a few bolt-ons and harder still suspension which may dent sales in the UK. Doubt that'll trouble resale values much either.

edit - agree with Jay - he posted as I was typing mine!

  15. Gordon, I hope you're well. Just in case you're still hunting I thought these images might help. Firstly a picture of the sticker. Secondly using my 14m old Son as scale of the boot's capacity ;)

    BINGO

  16. Does look very OEM (but should do at the price). Very smart. Must admit I really miss the 360 degree cameras from my wife's QQ when I step into the Zed, especially the mirror mounted ones that help you tuck into a space without clipping the alloys, hopefully will become standard in the future on large alloy-ed cars.

edit - for some reason it won't let me upload them??? Well under the max limit. Odd. Sorry - I tried. Could always e-mail you if you want.
