  1. Guys, Couldn't avoid a farkin great pothole today and damaged two N/S wheels, (fortunately not driving the Zed, just a VW). Geometry etc checked and all OK, but 2 wheels will need replacing. Has anyone had any experience of trying to claim from the council to cover repair costs? I have photographed offending pothole and still have the damaged wheels. This occurred in Kent Will it be a huge fight or should I put it down to experience? Thanks in advance

  7. I had a guy come to remove a dent on the wifes car. It was a little worrying watching him beat the crap out of the door with soft faced hammers but the results were excellent. I would only use someone who was recommended though. The guy I used covers East sussex
  8. I had a new screen today, done on the insurance by Autoglass. Bit scary watching the fitter pull my car to bits, but it all went back fine. He said the cost of the glass and new trim bits came to £490 plus vat, and it took him over 3 hours to do the job. So probably somewhere in the region of £800 all in ??
  9. You can get a cat scarer on ebay. It connects to a domestic hose and works with a PIR, like an alarm sensor. When the PIR detects movement it sends a small, and noisy jet of water about 20 feet, over a wide radius. The cats soon 'learn'
  10. I think to resit the panel above the door, i'll just have to loosen of 2 - 4 nuts re-seat then tighten them up again (hopefully) So where are the nuts that you have to undo to re-seat the trim??
  11. Thanks guye. You've put my mind at rest !!
  12. Gents, I picked up a huge crack in my windscreen today, - it will need replacing. I will have to use Autoglass as that is the company that my insurers use. Is it a complex job? It looks like the plastic panels that run along the roof above the windows will have to come off to get the screen out. Has anyone watched this being done, and do they go back OK or will Autoglass need to source new fixings ets? I don't relish the thought of a fitter pulling bits off my car but I haven't got any choice. Any advice would be appreciated Cheers
  13. You might get a couple of quid for the jeans.....
  14. Gents, My car's tailgate has developed a really annoying rattle somewhere on its offside, and it's driving me mad. I think it must need tightening up on the catch as even locked, you can still push it down a little further. Does anyone know how to remove the plastic trim at the rear of the boot so that I can get at the catch so that I can adjust it? Or, is there an easier fix to get rid of the rattle? Cheers
  15. At last! Someone has found a use for the tape slot !!

  18. I go a couple of times a year. The new Ringwerk complex is well worth an afternoon's visit. There is a good 4x4 area nearby where you can hire a Suzuki jeep for 49 euros per hour. Set in a disused quarry and brilliant fun. The Ringhause hotel is about 200 metres from the northloop entrance. Bit of a 'blokey' hotel, more of a hostel really. Have a look at Ben Lovejoys Nurburgring website for loads of info

Thanks guys. You have put my mind at rest. Tyre repaired today, to the tune of twenty quid. Much cheaper than replacement as it was so new.

    Tyre Repairs

I've just picked up a bolt in a 3000 mile old rear RE050. Local tyre shop says it ca be repaired by vulcanising the hole, but I am not sure if it is OK to repair W rated tyres. I am contemplating replacing it. Any views on the safety aspect of repairing this tyre? Thanks guys

Hi, I'm not sure about point 1. The rear hatch ossacionally creaks a bit on mine. I just put it down to the fact that it is quite large, and just behind you. Regarding the brakes, assuming you have not worn them down to the metal, which would cause a loud squeak, try giving 'em a bit of stick. that sometimes clears squeaks
