As the topic suggests, am in the process of fitting a new set of coilovers. The instructions are not particularly clear and I'm unable to find a guide online that clearly shows what I'm after.
What I have is this:
Which is a new rear spring, along with the new top assembly (to adjust spring height - picture upside down
) and the original rubber mounts from the old spring - the cone shape from the top and the flatter one from the bottom.
My questions!
- The flat circular rubber 'washer' (the shiny new one in the picture). Where does it go?
- The cone shaped rubber mount is junked, does the metal plate from the support mate right up to the car body without anything between?
- The other rubber mount (the bottom one), is that retained? It's a perfect fit for the new spring so I'm assuming so.
Any help would be much appreciated!

Might be alright, however you don't really need a relocation kit and I reckon a thermostatic sandwich plate is a good idea. There's a guy on ebay who sells mocal kits, probably worth a look - not actually that expensive.

Do these things still exist now that Match.com et al are on the scene?
Comedy gold!

I can fully appreciate the severe annoyance this will cause, but I posted to prevent the thread from going down a route whch would have seen it locked, as it needs to stay open so this can be resolved.
My personal opinion is that the sender is responsible for getting the goods to you. If you do not receive the goods, the sender should refund you. The seller is then free to take up the case with whomever he had courier the goods.
Totally agree. If I send goods out I use either a courier or recorded delivery. If something didn't turn up, it would be down to me to make sure the buyer wasn't out of pocket. Thats not a trader thing, thats a moral thing. Contact Paypal and lodge a dispute. They will take the money back from him till it is sorted.
Will Paypal get involved though, given that the money was sent as a gift?

Do you have the print off to hand? get them scanned in....im having trouble believing your car ran 197bhp at the fly
trunst me mate i wouldnt lie about being down on power im gutted
I'm fairly sure that's not what Dave is implying - it would be helpful to see the printouts. What mods do you have?
I mean correction to the power figure at the wheels to calculate flywheel power.
-
the guy told me it is running lean it was a dyno dynamics 3 runs in 4th gear
Do you have your afr printouts?
What correction did they use?
-
What makes you think you're running lean?
What dyno was it checked on? How many runs?

Pros and cons to both. V3 is self contained as you said, and therefore won't require you to tap your pan. However it does require you to change oil at certain intervals (and check it with the small dipstick thing) and they recommend Vortech's own for the job, unsurprisingly.
As far as I can tell the actual compressors are the same though.

However, if you are insistent that it's a good idea, I reckon it wouldn't be that hard to cut them from a sheet, something like this perhaps:

But I still say don't do it!

I'm with Beavis on this! Sounds horrible.

Stock car?
No throttle controller / remap?
-
ebay,
you can get any size you like, lots of variety
I'll get on it now!

Looks good!
Has anyone tried this on the bumper beneath the grill? Is it hard-wearing enough?
no ones tried it that i know of, but it is very thick vinyl and if after 18 months its looking tired, peel it off and re apply a new bit.
that area there should be fairly easy to fit
I might give it a try then. Is it possible to get hold of smaller bits or do I have to buy a massive sheet?

In that case don't worry about it.
+1

Most of what they said went over my head, but the figure quoted was at the flywheel.
What correction did they use?

Will send you a pm this evening, we can probably sort something as I'm pretty close to Leamington for the next week or so.
Sounds good to me, would be better to meet and swap if you are close enough then we both don't have to wait for her majesties service for our cars to work again!!!
Definitely!

If you're after a straight swap, mine are in their original condition...

Keep low, move fast.
Oh, and be lenient if you catch anyone speeding on a quad around Bastion.

Haha good work there Danny.
Wookie as you have prob guessed I need a quick fix on this, would be very interested in having them off you. If you can let me know details soonest that would be great. If a light borrow is ok with you and there is no other feasible solution I would be very gratefull.
PM me with your thoughts and we can sort something out.
Cheers fellas once again
PM duly sent.
The Nismo offer still stands though!

Alternatively, I could be interested in a straight swap for some 19" Nismos, that way no-one's integrity can be called into question.
Fitting Bilstein PSS10s - Now sorted, hopefully!
