  1. Are these just larger treads or are they also studded? No not studded. http://www.monstermarketplace.com/Autom ... 3a871.html
  2. Well my 350 has been a nightmare in the recent snow. Really bad considering it has ESP and a limited slip diff. I have almost new R040s on the rear which were useless in snow (and don't give me confidence in the wet either) so I've had some winter tyres fitted to spare wheels I have. Managed to get a couple of Continental Winter Contact TS790 V for the rear and the car is transformed, so much better. The tread pattern is better for snow but also the compound is softer for improved grip in cold conditions (not just snow).
  3. The winner of the Academy races in the European GT4 Championship currently on Motors TV - he's bloody good too!
  4. CS I got there about 12.45, the guy (Rob Gray?) said that he had had lots of visitors, the best location yet - well done. Lots of my pics on the ZClub (Zclub.net) my link is above. Haven't got time to download here just off on a week's holiday. The car looks even better in the flesh!
  5. I went today CS. I wasn't too keen on the 370 having seen a silver one at Japfest last week but the Le Mans blue car today was lovely. Can you all see this link? http://zclub.net/forum/350z-370z/14844-370z-yes-no.html
  6. Yes the tyres are road legal, they are Yoko A032 and A048. Lotus use 48s on the Elise. Basically they are like modern motorbike tyres (cut slick style). They are better than you might think in the damp because of the soft compound. Not very comfortable though - noisey, pull the steering on my 240 (white lines etc) and pick up stones and grit.
  7. Just seen it and it is worth watching. By the way I was at Donington yesterday in my 240Z and it pi**ed-down all day. Last week sunny, today sunny
  8. Dad just phoned to say he was watching a programme on TV I would be interested in. Only caught the last few minutes but: On TV Channel 'Dave ja vu' at 12.30pm (lunchtime) TODAY is GT Academy featuring 350Zs and GTRs. Drivers battle to get a place in a race team! Also repeated TONIGHT on Dave at 7.30pm. Apologies if this has already been posted but haven't time to look!
  9. My local exhaust fitter has told me to take my gaskets to him and he'll try to match them. I'll keep you posted, it may be worth buying a few.
  10. I'm about to renew my ehaust with a low mileage S/H system. Phoned Nissan parts today and was quoted £50 for the 4 gaskets! Are there any aftermarket gaskets available, what would an exhaust dealer use - Nissan parts?
  11. I've still not seen one, glasses ok I see lots of ladies in Audi TTs, Mercs, BMs, Jags, Minis, Civic Type Rs, Boxters etc.
  12. As I said before the weight is the main issue with the 350. Although thought to be a big car when current the 240 is quite small and responsive compared to modern cars. I've worked on mine a bit too - and still doing so at the moment to take even more weight off. Lady drivers - most don't find driving as 'natural' as men (unlike ice skating, horse riding etc - don't mean to be sexist here!). They can be very good and I know a few who are, in fact I've service (now now!) a lady crew on international rallies. Put many men to shame. My daughter is a slick driver and what I like most is that she is great at manouvering and parking, something I 'pushed' when she was learning to drive. My mother-in-law is pathetic, embarassing! My wife doesn't drive and I have three cars So how many 350Z women drivers are there, I've not seen one!
  13. For some reason (processing?) I lost the final 'blips' from both of you. Next time I will let the camera run a bit longer before stopping.
  14. Vid of my eldest in the 240 at Japfest last year - pushing a 300 softtop a bit too hard. The V8 240 (black bonnet) is also featured a bit later. Plus a picture of my (100k mls) 350, they don't make em like they used to - thank god!
  15. A couple of pics and exhaust clips:
  16. Hi Cara, (like the Avatar) I have a daughter too Amy (24), she is a Z fan as well. Amy has been a passenger on trackdays and loves both cars. Daren't let her drive - she's mad, fearless! When she was at Uni in Sheffield the 350s were newish and she used to text me when she saw one! She went corporate karting recently with her boyfriend's workmates and took it really seriously, she was asking her brothers for advice. My Dad (87) is a big car fan and he was the one who started all this!
  17. Thanks guys. Chris'I , I think you might be be talking about a fellow 240 owner - Steve Francis. He has a red car like mine but with a black bonnet. The biggest difference however is that he has a 5ltr Ford V8 in his car, mine is a 2.8 ltr Datsun straight 6 engine. Steve and I are similar speed but he just has the edge at Castle Combe, his local circuit. We were both at the Silverstone Nissan Parade day, if any of you can remember. On track my modified 240 couldn't stay with the quicker 350s on the straights but was quicker over the full lap. It's all down to weight, a 240 is near enough just 1030kg so braking and cornering speeds are better. The 350 is a great road car in standard tune. MartinMac, sorry I forgot to mention that you introduced me to this Forum. Pictures - they are too big to upload, I may need help with that. Yes I have a couple of short exhaust clips too.
  18. Hi everyone, I met up with a few of you guys yesterday at the Midland Meet and it was suggested I introduce myself. I'm getting on a bit (57 this year) but still enjoy fast cars and track days. My two lads (22 and 26) are into motorsport too, both do track days with me and the older one also motocrosses a 450 Honda. I've been a 240 owner for 13 years now and had my 350 (2004 UK) for nearly 2 years. The 350 is a high mileage car (100k) but it's just had a new engine fitted (thanks to CS and his recent thread re Nissan evaluation scheme). Was hoping to see CS yesterday but he didn't make it. You'll see my cars on page 79 of Autumn 08 Total Nissan. Next trackdays are April 27 Donington and Japfest May 16. I use the 240 for trackwork and it goes quite well, don't think my 350 would be as quick. Take a look at my Youtube clips: http://www.youtube.com/user/Tetleysdad Hope to meet more of you at future shows (Japfest, Zedfest, Z009?)
  19. Hi Guys, I may be the chap from the Z Club mentioned above. I only have a couple of photos worth showing, I was just snapping bits on 350Zs for personal interest re possible mods. Having trouble uploading atm (pixel size?). It was good to meet-up with other 350Z owners and thanks for showing me your cars.
  20. Hi, I'm new to this Forum - have been steered here by a ZClub mate. I own a 240Z track car and a 2004 UK 350Z (plus a Golf VR6). My 350Z has done 100k + a few hundred and I'm genuinely INTERESTED IN THIS ENGINE SWAP! Please pass on any details you can and I'll follow it up today. Many thanks, Rob.
