The cost is not too great on a 350/370z. Nice sized cars, paint hardness is in your favour (thickness however isnt!) and a lt can be achieved.
Wax possibly would be something on these cars I'd not actually recommend after a correction. The modern ceramic coatings (Bodyboarders car had wax the 1st time and a ceramic the 2nd and I'm sure he'd be able to say which looked better and was easier to maintain)
The modern ceramic coatings might cost a little more to apply after but you wont need to top up etc after, just wash them and dry.

The glaze will just come out after a few washes.
It's not correcting the paint, it's filling in the gaps
£400 isn't a full correction either IMHO.
Looking more than that if they are decent.

I had a look at their website, and I might have a chat with him, thank you for the recommendation
They say on their website not to use a detergent based wash, as it will undo all their work ( big concern for me ) I use Megs Ultimate Wash, I'm assuming as I cannot find any information on this, that the Megs will be fine to use?
Indeed that's a shampoo that would be totally fine. By detergent free shampoos we mean ones that don't have surfactants, ionic and non ionic surfactants in them
If it has a hazard triangle on the back as well! AutoGlym shampoo funnily enough contains detergent, strips off your wax and hey presto you go back to Halfords and buy more SRP and Extra Gloss protection and AG are happy ;-)

Once the Bubbly Jubbly was rinsed, and BEFORE the hand wash it was time for a liberal application of Iron Awe to the bodywork too.
Wheels cleaned thoroughly
Hand washed with TBM, Envy shampoo and the Z sponge.
Much better I think you'll agree.
A problem on the rear arch for the customer to get touched in, a photographic memory jogger!

2-3 passes with S3 Gold and we are on the right track
I correct and refine 1 panel at a time. Nothing more disheartening than making your way round a car, then having to start again to refine.
The fecking flex flex doing what it does best!

I had to ask if she had been used as a stage rally car, muck forestry, 4X4 etc...
Green with Envy?
Based on how she was, I sprayed the whole vehicle with weak TFR to get the dirt loosened and then covered the wheels with Iron Awe and left to soak.
Pre-soaked with Citrus cleaner via the foam lance, anti-bacterial agents should help slow the return of the green bits.

Sounds like you used too much wax when you did it.
Try a wipe down with a fluffier MF cloth 1st, or you may have to wash it again and re-buff after to try to reduce the coating a smidge.
Failing that, wash with APC, strip the lot off and re-apply thinner.

Sounds like transport wax. The garage would normally steam this off. Any other method will take you a very long time. I'd really ask them to do it for you on this occasion as they will be faster and better at it.

Personally I'd be avoiding the machine polish and the wax!
They really shouldnt apply any wax etc for 6-8 weeks to allow the paint to cure naturally. When paint cures it outgasses and this can cause "blooms" under any waxes etc.
Car paint when applied in the factory is cured in an oven at far higher temps than a body shop can replicate, mainly due to having an interior and stuff that would melt so needs time to harden fully.

The polisher, doesnt tell you how heavy it is. Mine cost a shed load more than that but its a known brand and I rely on it.
Of the pads, the bottom 3 (waffle ones) will prob be the only ones you use!
Speeds wise, mine has lower start speed and goes to approx 2200rpm.
It might be ok, but generally I have found buy cheap, buy many times! Could be good to see how you get on, then maybe upgrade?

We have something new from my friend Marc at Krystal Kleen Detail called Mist X. Been trialling it for a while for him.
Its pink, smells like a lovely strawberry milkshake and leaves a most amazing slick finish. Personally I think its over engineered, and more like a spray sealant than a QD as it lasts a long time.
Will be in the shop this week, just need to take pictures!

Haydn I'll have a look later and do you a deal on the APC as we also do a 1L size and maybe you could split it with the parents etc as I use it to clean round the house too, not just the cars!?

It was also a superb thing to drive. I had to collect and drop off and all I can say is wow!What a difference, great job. Nice M3 as well.

Any one will do what you want.Great work. I've always wondered about products for matte finishes.
Just as a matter of interest, what products would you recommend for a pearlescent white finish such as on the 370z storm white cars?
Yes and no Irfan! Was looking forward to and dreading this in equal measures and it was a new finish to work on and new products to use but it went really well and I actually grew to love the paint over the job!Nice work as always tim but don't you muss the reflection shots when doing matt/satin cars? That's how you judge a detail but with these cars there's less to show for all that effort

Would I consider it myself? No, but only because any damage=body shop and will they be able to match this style of paint....
I do Immy, and yes it does but some of them like this I'd like to see more often because its local and if you keep on top of it it will be a much nicer car for the owner to cherish.You must just love standing back when you finished a job and comparing the before and after.
Some people really don't care about their car, guess it keeps you in business though.

Sadly I'm on the south coast but I do pass near enough to Blackpool a couple of times a year if you do want yours doing. May 2014 will be next on my way to the IOM...I'd love to see some video of your little tips and tricks, but I guess it's need to know

Lucky us, the 2nd Classic Porsche we have been lucky enough to get to do. This one we did at our Gosport, Hampshire Unit.
The owner had the Porsche restored and it needed the final flourish to get her up together ready to sell, straight to us from the body shop. It was done as a fill in job, and left with us for a week but hands on time I'd say 2.5 days.
Washed as per usual, but with the addition of APC and magic sponges to remove white residue from the rubbers!
Underbonnet and interior carpet sections removed and hit with the Vortex machine. 11 pieces would you believe!
Lots of patience and attention to detail on this one

50/50 on the roof
Once the correction was completed (yes really 5 days) the car was de-dusted, wiped down thoroughly with Eraser and eraser-like product ready to apply the Opti-Coat 2.0 which was applied and allowed to cure over night.
The following lunchtime, the car was wiped down gently and brought outside to inspect the end result of this paint correction detail.
Not too shabby

Now I have broken my own golden rule doing this car, I never normally correct my own cars. Detail yes but correct no! That way when people say "oh you've got swirls" I can say with a clear conscience I dont correct my cars! This time I cant:rolleyes:
It was a tough assignment no joking, but each panel was taking 5+ hits, and hard hits at that to remove the marks but I think you'll agree it was worth it.

Good afternoon, another paint correction detail carried out at our Gosport Unit here in sunny (ahem) Hampshire.
Now those that follow us on Twitter and Facebook (please do!) will have no doubt seen the moaning that's been done about this car. Make no mistake it was a car from hell to detail and took 5 days (yes 5) of correction to get it to the end point. No, still not 100% but as close to it as time, patience and will power would allow! Even my Flex was moaning so it got sent for a service straight after this detail......
The car was washed, clayed etc as per normal then I set about doing a test section.
I chose the bonnet as my test section!
After I battled I thought I better take some before's, and also shows the bonnet section after the tests were done. Yes I know the tyres are dressed but I've not messed up the order (yet!) I promise.
OK, so back indoor to set up the lights and crack on with the serious task in hand. Pads...Megs yellow polishing with Scholl S3 Gold, followed by Megs black buffing and menzerna 85RE to refine. In between wiped down with our own Eraser style mix, and Eraser itself to make sure no filling is going on here. True corrections only.

Polishing completed, time for a turbo charged de-dust!
Final wipe downs with Eraser, and double checked with the sun gun and natural light. We are now ready to wax....
Britemax Vantage Wax rides again!

Tyres dressed, exhaust tip polished and glass and chrome dealt with. Are we brave enough to show the car in bright sunlight?

This BMW was subject for a machine polish at our Gosport Unit a few months back to reduce the appearance of swirls that the owner was unhappy with.
Ideally I wanted 3 days on the car as I knew the paint was going to put up a fight, but the owner and I settled on 2 days and we'll see how it came out afterwards.
Typically I gave it more tickling than I really should have (as I'm not a fan of the single stage polishing details), but you'll see shortly!
The beast was dropped off the night before, so I could make an early start
In the cold morning light...
As usual door shuts were sprayed with APC, wheels with Evolution wheel cleaner, then a liberal amount of creamy goodness in the shape of Bubbly Jubbly SSF.
Iron Awe the wheels
Once the wheels were cleaned and the SSF rinsed off, the car was washed with the 2 bucket method, grit guards and the trusty Z sponge.
Moved indoors, dried off ready to clay.

Paint thickness readings taken all over, and a little bit of taping up to protect sensitive areas from the rotary but also dust ingress.

A bit difficult to see but a 50/50 on the roof pillar.

Each panel instead of getting 1 hit, and being happy with whatever the improvement was, got 1-3 hits with Scholl S3 Gold and a wipe down with Eraser. Followed by a further polishing set with Menzerna 85RE and another wipe down, before moving on to the next panel.
