  1. I just might have to PX my car but not too sure if this is the case just yet, but if I have to, what would I buy?

There are many many cars to choose from, a lot much much faster than the 350Z.

But if you wanted one that handled just as well if not better, but with the good looks of the 350Z what would you choose? I've always been a fan of the S6 Avant, but don't think I'd admire it's looks like I do the Nissan.

Sure a Lotus Elise is much lighter and quicker, but wouldn't serve as an every day car, and they leak when it rains, The Skyline is fast as f*** but I can't bear to look at them, also an M3 is a cracking car, but doesn't really stand out. Had an Evo and it fell to bits, don't like Subaru's to look at, and kind of want to avoid owning a diesel.

My only option might just be a Porsche, but I don't really want people spitting at my car as I drive past, or keying it in Tesco's car park.

    ......what to buy.... :snack:

  2. I mean really, what is the f******* point. What a load of old s*****.

A really simple way to spoil a really nice coupe, and join the never ending growing group of losers in Saxo's that believe they are the next Colin McRae cruising the streets, only to be taken over and embarrassed by a BMW M-Sport Estate in Burgandy.

-each to their own I suppose. :snack:

  3. I mostly get trouble at Tesco filling stations, but not all of them. Never a problem when I use V Power, maybe it's trying to tell me something?

maybe a red herring, but someone suggested a blocked breather pipe, is the tank meant to be under vacuum as I get quite a 'woosh' when I take the petrol cap off?

Surely that's simply pressure building up from the expansion of the gas, and you are likely to have less in the tank when this happens?

As for not filling right up, maybe fill it at one petrol station, then later on in the day see if you can add a great deal more at a different station?

-If I run my car down to the reserve light, it costs me £81 ish for a full tank of V-power/BP Ultimate, and I can over fill mine past the point of no return, so that it overflows and dribbles through my hole :teeth:

You might have some restriction of some kind or an inaccurate fuel gauge. Try counting how much you fill for how far you go, or maybe some Redex ????

    Good luck with this. :headhurt:

  4. ON my Vin the colour code is WV2 G

Is this a specific shade of the Grey?

Going by Robs post It looks as id D and G exist. D perhaps being the lighter shade???

If they have painted it in D instead of G (simply going by WV2) then it might well be showing the symptoms that you describe......

    Just an idea.

    Fing good idea. Cheers dude.

Well done! I'll put this to them tomorrow!

  5. No probs with my vin matching my V5 etc, checked before I purchased my car, and recently!

Only thing is, on my V5 and first MOT my colour is down as Silver, not Grey. I have a silver car, and have parked next to a silver 350z, and my car is Grey.

Do I have the wrong colour on my Vin for my car?

Every Insurance quote (ever) shows my car as a 296 when I give the reg. no. but it is definately a mk1 pre-facelift so should be a 276.

Do I have a pig of a car????? :bangin:

( I mean I currently have a silver VW Golf)

  7. I've found the colour code WV2 previously on the site, cheers.

The paint shop checked the colour chart against my car first and against my cars Vin, but once painted it came out different.

They said if they are at fault then they'll re-paint for free, but by going by my Vin, the colour is shown as 'starburst silver' and that's what they've used. I mentioned that a 350Z doesn't come in this colour, but their system says different.

So... without getting Nissan to confirm this is incorrect, I can't really get exited and kick off, unless I find otherwise.

The paint shop said they'll mix a colour to match the rest of my car, as I must have the wrong paint mixed from the off (factory) against my Vin. But, this will cost me.

My petrol cap has been painted at some point before I owned my car I think, as this too is lighter than the rest of my car, but only noticeable when pointed out.

I'm looking onto this over the weekend and going back to see them on Monday.

  8. I've just had my 2006 front bumper sprayed, but it looks silver and my car is Grey. I've been back the the shop today and got no further forward, other than closer to spending more money.

The paint shop (good shop/no probs) have informed me that the colour code on my Vin is 'Starburst Silver', and that is the colour my bumper has been sprayed. This said, it's not the same shade as the rest of my car.

Fair enough to them, no arguments there, but my car is f'ing Grey not Silver, so what's gone wrong there then????

Were there different shades of the Grey, and if so should they have known this?

Nissan say there is a Gunmetal Grey pre-2006 and a Twighlight Silver onwards?

I'm lost. Getting close to losing my patience with this as I spent £230 already, not prepared to spend the same again if I don't have to.

    Anyone had similar before????

  9. Says it's a 296 coupe in the add ?? As in 296 bhp ?? But it's a mk 1 350z, so 278 bhp ?

That's what I reckon, just when ever I run the registration through either Nissan or every car insurance company I've had a quote from (also questioned this with my current insurer) or a dealer for a part ex, it comes back as a 296 coupe? Even on the HPI check I made when I first bought it.

Must be due to the fact that it was first registered in 2006.

I could always get a remap :teeth:

  11. They definitely checked the codes and shades. Good workshop with proper service, no problems.

The bottom of the bumper looks dark enough, just the bonnet and top of the bumper don't look the same shade exactly. They said they'd re paint the bumper and try and go darker, but that the paint was the correct colour for my Vin code.

They told me that since the introduction of water based paints, shades can be difficult to match, and the only way to blend the bumper in would be to creep into the bonnet and front wings. At an additional cost though.

  12. I've just had my front bumper de-badged and smoothed, but although the paint shop used my Vin for the colour code, it looks lighter than the rest of my car in certain light?

Looking more carefully at my car, the side skirts and rear bumper and petrol cap and spoiler all look slightly lighter, more silver than grey?

Anyone have a reasonable answer to this? Other than the front bumper nothing else has ever been painted on my car, so I wondered if a different finish is achieved on plastics as opposed to metal?? :bang:
