  1. Plenty to choose from. YouTube "350z exhausts" and you can hear all the different types.

I have a Nismo - it's the most perfect sound ever and the Dartford tunnel was designed because of this exhaust. :p Its one of the most expensive one's though (over the £1k mark). You can get much cheaper with still a great noise - have a nosey around. :)

Induction will be single and although no performance gains to be had, will give more noise. A popular choice is the JWT popcharger, although there are many more.

    Check out the modifications section...

I have one and can vouch for the clean installation and excellent sound produced

  2. You can't knock a MK1 Golf. :teeth:

Problem with VW's is that they are majority FWD and/or are too heavy for the power they have I reckon. I've had a MK1 GTI, a MK2 GTI 16V, and currently I do have a MK4 GTI-T and its a good car, but not a 'drivers' car.

The new 4WD MK6 Golf Turbo (265bhp) looks pretty effing good! Not sure I'd want to pay £30 for a Golf though.

Never, ever, liked the VW Beetle, :yuck: and by the way, the dirty Beetle was designed and built by Nazis, for Nazis. :boxing: With this in mind I wouldn't even sit in one.

  3. I was looking between the two same cars and test drove both, im obviously going to say the zed but ill explain my reason. The Zed has a much more muscle car feel to it, the sound of the V6 is awesome, and to drive you really cant have more fun in another car. its also very reliable and has hardly any serious faults as long as its treated well. The RX8 has a Rotary engine that will apparently drink as much oil as petrol, it requires much more maintenance as my parents had one for a while and they were always taking it to the garage for services. To drive its very smooth and the handling is very good with a stylish interior (to me anyway), but it lacked that raw power that the Zed has.

Dont get me wrong both cars are good but without understanding what kind of driver you are and what type of car you enjoy driving its hard to choose, it will come down to the one that ticks more boxes.

Completely agree, also the rotary requires are-build at I think approx 50k

  4. Is it expansion and contraction from your exhaust? does the ticking stop after the car has cooled?

The ticking does stop after the car has cooled, i.e. I never hear it when I drive it first thing in the morning. That would be REALLY confusing..

I think exhaust may as well be the problem here. When I walked around the car, the noise is coming from not just the rear wheels area, but also middle part of the car. But I don't really expect the exhaust to be doing any work after the engine is turned off? since it is only NA, not a turbo car..

The car has been serviced recently in July and has had full main dealer service history.

...As in the metal expanding when heated and contracting when cooling. Not 'working' as such but non the less altering state slightly.

E.g. heating a bi-metallic strip that flexes and curls when hot and returns to it's original state when cooled, just like one of those 'mood fish' you get in a christmas cracker :bounce:

  5. Do you hammer it when you drive? After I've been out in mine, if the window in the front room is cracked or open, I can hear my exhaust and brakes cooling from inside my house for a while due to the heat that passes through them.

If your car is making sound when it's still and un-running, I would be surprised if it was a mechanical fault as nothing should be in motion??

Get under it next time and see what you can see?

  6. Hello everyone,

After spending most of my working hours surfing this forum in the past 2 months, I've finally purchased a 350Z!

    2006/56, Grey, Tan Leather GT.

I'm in East London, and I don't get to drive it until the weekends

First task to get some rubber and brakes sorted so I can be ready for a track day on the 20th Dec.

Looking forward to see all fellow Z owners on the road!

    Cheers

Lets hope you're not gonna stuff it on your first proper drive if it's gonna be on the track.

  7. Love minis, a mate of mine has a civic type-r Z cars mini.

I always fancied one but couldn't cope with the epic battle against the rusting panels, and hinges, and engine bay, and roof, and floor panel, and engine, and seat rails, and battery tray, and ash tray :teeth:

  8. The clicking rear axle from my experience is only a noise to be heard when moving forwards or backwards whilst in gear, I noticed the noise on mine never sounded when I took my car out of gear and simply coasted. I had the CV joint replaced under warranty to rectify, so doubt very much this is the case with yours if the noise is apparent when stationery.

Is it expansion and contraction from your exhaust? (does the ticking stop after the car has cooled?)

  9. It depends on whether or not you are on a sealed or pressurised system. Bleeding your rads could cause you some problems depending what system/chb you have. If you have f/e tanks in your roofspace you should be fine providing you have no pressure gauge on your boiler.

If you still need advice, I do this for a living, so pm with your number and I'll call you and talk you through it.

Oh well, I tried to help.

So did I, brother. She's so ungrateful!

    Are we related?
