The only thing CTRs had going for them was the engine. Steering feel was rough, brakes patchy, gearchange passable and they look like breadvans, but not in a good way. I like the looks of the latest version, but again it's a step backwards with more weight and no more power.
Yes, the K20 engine is a remarkable peice of engineering
Its been used to power the Ariel Atom, and we all know how quick that is.
If you stick hairdryer to a sheet of toilet paper. Im sure that would be fast too!

Dude see a doctor! you got issues!
You're third on my list now!
-
Ok. If you guys are wrong, and I run out of fuel after 10 miles. I'm going to find both of you, come round your houses while you're at work and "American Pie" your Sunday desserts.
-
Sorry mate.
I believe you bought a Saxo. I'd take it back to the garage. You were mis-sold.
Apparently it's been a big issue recently. People kitting up saxo's to look like Z's, and flogging them on to unsuspecting buyers/dealers.
Speak to the garage in question, and DEMAND a refund.
The search function regarding LED lights etc, should bring up the info you need to go forward with your claim to the garage.
I hope it works out for you dude!

Hey chaps,
I was just reading the long distance MPG thread, and someone mentioned the dte read out.
I've never dared test it myself. But I've always wondered about how accurate this is. It's crept onto 0 dte before, where I promptly shat my silken thong and got to the nearest petrol station asap.
Is there any built in "margin for morons" where it in fact has 10/20 miles tucked away somewhere?
-
Renault derived engine. Yes.
-
I agree, it should have been 4wd. However lets be honest here, for 90% of drivers, they having to slow down at roundabouts while crappy CTR's can floor it round them without even a second thought about it...
RWD may be trickier than FWD. But there's no way a CTR or any fwd car should out perform on the exit of a corner/roundabout. You just need to be a little less ham fisted with the throttle, and maybe get some new tyres

I don't know if it's related, but many people have a video monitoring system for issuing parking fines nowadays, not physical people / tickets.
A mate of mine recently got a fine through the post from come company monitoring B&Q car park, saying they have photographic proof of his car being illegally parked in the B&Q car park overnight i.e. between the hours of xxPM and xxAM the following day.
In actual fact he'd been that night, bought something shoddy and took it back the next morning. No ticket was placed on his window or anything, literally got a letter through the post a week or two later!
It might be they clocked you either from a distance and took a picture, or using video monitoring.
Cheeky barstewards
If it's a B&Q carpark, it'll be a privately run firm. G24, NCP, EuroCar parks etc etc.
Which means your mate doesn't need to pay it. They can't do anything. If it's not too late, tell him to do nothing. Ignore the scary letters and they go away. Simply put. They don't have the right to issue a penalty charge, don't have the right to charge the keeper, and as they are not governmental, you're not obliged to give them any information either without a court order. Which they can't get because they aren't government body etc...
-
Do they have an option for you to see a photo of the car with the PCN (penalty charge notice) attached?
Either way, you may have a chance.
This forum http://www.pepipoo.com/ Is an absolute goldmine of useful information about blagging parking tickets and speeding tickets. They'll also be straight up about when it's best to hold up your hands and cough up as well.

Why should it be such a big drama if you have 2 different sets of tyres front and back.
Purely the fact alone that it's RWD, and FWS with fatter tyres at the rear means grip is going to be different on each and anyway. I can't really see it being a problem, good practice maybe, but not an issue. Having 2 different tyres on one end could be a problem though...

Don't be so snobbish guys!
We complain when porsche/bmw/audi owners dismiss the 350 for being a nissan, and nothing else.
So we shouldn't do the same to other marques. Respect a good car. To your criteria or not
-
To summarise.
Modify to change characteristics/sound. You won't get much of a performance gain from anything. Unless you lob a S/C or turbo on there. Which will cost many times the amount a turbo upgrade would on a scooby, and will be less reliable.
BHP increase per £ is awful on the car. If that is a big thing for you, you may want to reconsider. If you're just after stockish power with an awesome sound. DON'T RECONSIDER!
The Bose is dire, and you'll lose satnav sound and bluetooth if you change it, and you can't use the Bose amp if you want to do anything decent with the sound.
A full tank of fuel might get you 400 miles, but it will cost about £85, not £65

When I got my Z key. I thought "Yeah, this sh1t will look good in the fruit bowl at the party!"
-
Don't be so quick to say "just a focus"
It's no ordinary focus. Certainly not to everyones taste, but it looks mental and is a 26k car with 300+ bhp.
I am pleased to hear that it was close run thing.
What year Z are you running?
-
I don't like the overall appearance as much as the 350. The front has come in for quite a bit of criticism and I don't like the rear end as much either. It is also not as inspiring to drive imo insomuch as it doesn't sound anywhere near as good as the 350, the ride is less firm and it just feels more sanitised overall. The interior is possibly better and one would hope the paint too. Overall though it just didn't excite in the same way as the 350 did when I first saw it.
These are purely my opinions of course and obviously won't be shared by everyone.
Yes I agree the Cayman does command a much greater price and that's the main reason I didn't buy new. But a 2 year old car with 17000 miles on it that cost around £52K when new, represents a better buy than a new 370Z for my money.
Indeed. For re-sale values anyway. I think the rest is personal preference. I've never been in any type of boxster/cayman. What's the exhaust note like?

A quick (belated?) hello. Been loitering here for awhile and
after a year of postponing my Z plans, buying a Golf GTi sootchucker, then trying to find one in the right spec I finally got one. It's a black on black GT with Rays
Thanks for all of your help and suggestions, the info here was invaluable when looking at cars
Welcome. I registered Oct 08, but didn't buy till October 09! So I know that feeling. Also got a black gt!
Congrats, and welcome.
PITA to keep clean, but looks oh so good when it is!
-
Having tested both a 04 and and a 56 before settling on the facelift. I deffo say the facelift.
The engines are the same in the 2 you're looking at, but the facelift interior, while subtle, is a much nicer place to be, with more useful cubbies. The LED rear clusters and much meatier front lights look loads better as well.
Oh, and AZURE blue is beautiful.
People say yellow is rarer, so worth more. Some might say yellow is rarer, because, it's...yellow
-
More amazing is the fact the 370 Nismo gets schooled round the track by most of the cars on that list!
-
Really?
Where does it fall down compared to the 350?
Of course I'd assume the Cayman S is better than both. But it commands and huge price over either as well!
-
Nice one. Beautiful.
But it of course, begs the question, why not a nearly new 370z?
Is there a massive difference between cars? On paper the performance looks similar. But that only tells part of the story!
-
I reckon it's because it's based off the fat US chassis for the g35/g37.
If it was a true construction from scratch they could of made it lighter.
As far as I know there aren't any exotic materials used in the cayman or Z4. Or even the TT.
-
I just checked. The Nismo isn't in the uk!
Pffft.
About losing weight. The 370 shouldn't need to be so hardcore to lose weight. It shouldn't be that weight to begin with. Being a true 2 seater, I don't see why it wasn't 1400kg fully loaded!
-
Still. I think they should do a hotter version of the zed. Something with 350-380 bhp would be nice, so it keeps the edge over anything but heavily modded hatches!
You need a 370z my friend. Looks to be easily modded to over 350HP with an intake and exhuast Or get the Nismo and its already 350HP
Hi Chris.
Did I say I love what you're wearing today. Can you spare 15k. Cheque is fine...
-
don't the vreddies come recommended as well?
Thinking of not selling....!

I bought mine outright a few months ago, and I am none of those!
I should add that there's nothing wrong with getting a loan for a car!
700 extra over the term isn't bad either.
