  1. The Zed has a low oil level warning but no low pressure warning.

the low oil light should have been illuminated for some time

According to the manual that is wrong; there is a pressure gauge and dashboard pressure warning light, but no level warning (only way to check level is via dipstick).

Low pressure on the gauge may indicate low level (as in this case) but not always correlated.

Don't some of the 06+ rev-up engines have a history of excessive oil consumption? This may be another example of that....

Interesting, so we really could almost run out of oil as long as there is enough to keep up reasonable pressure? :headhurt:

Correct, that's why it's essential people check their levels via the dipstick regularly (should be every week or before every long journey).

I've got a revup, and i think I've put about a litre in over the course of a few thousand miles. I didn't think that was excessive though..

Not all rev-ups suffer the problem; it's only a few cars apparently (something to do with slight ovality in the cylinder bores during a batch of engine block manufacture if I remember)

What's reasonable though. 1litre in 2/3000 miles is potentially 4 litres in 10k. Which people were baulking at earlier on in the thread! Is it something I should be worried about!?

  2. Well. My income fluctuates, so having a car loan scares me a little. On top of all the day to day running costs, I really didn't want the burden of additional monthly payments on my head!

If you get a good rate of interest though. Getting a loan isn't really a lot more expensive then buying it cash anyway. Heck, if Mr A gets a loan but negotiates 2k off the price that Mr B payed in cash, he's gonna be better off anyway, and he'll be earning interest off the money he kept in his bank account!

  3. The RE050A are standard fit on the 370's

some detail I found about that tyre:

"The Potenza RE050A tyres for the Ferrari F430 feature an asymmetrical, nondirectional tread pattern. Bridgestone has optimized the inner portion of the tread for wet-weather driving, especially important in Europe, and the outer portion of dry surfaces. The tyres thus provide a superior combination of dry- and wet-weather performance, along with a quiet, comfortable ride for touring. Bridgestone supplies similar Potenza RE050A to Enzo Ferrari, Superamerica and 612 Scaglietti."

If its good enough for Ferrari......... ;)

superior combination... mmm think I rather have my A goodyear F1's then the newer type that has the inner tyre for wet and outer for dry weather... it's not going to perform as well as a tyre made for wet weather when its wet and it wont perform better then a dry type tyre in the dry... so you'll have a tyre that's average in both weather conditions... :bang: for me the most important is that it performs in the wet and for dry conditions you need to get a wider tyre (285) and you'll get more contact surface! WHEN I get my a** in gear to get new wheels I'll get as wide as I can in the rear for dry condition and the best wet tyre out there fitted to it. For track tool use I'd use the same wheels that I have now and go for a sticky rubber.

    *and they look cooler :bounce:

Goodyear GSDs are old hat now. You want the Asymmetrics! Newer and better, but no where near as nice tread pattern :(

  4. All of the new Audi TT range seem to defy the laws of physics. They're all posting up times way faster than their specs suggest. No very powerful, and not particularly light.

    Dunno how they do it!

The Nismos competitor, and the 370's in general, should be the TTRS and not the TTS (If we take price out of the equation that is)!

  5. Suggesting it's not important is just odd. Don't you want to know what your baby can do. Even if you never intend on getting it to that?

Nope, because my penis is big enough thanks :p

If top speed doesn't concern you. Buy an MX5 or MR2...Mr Big Bulge!

  6. I am just being facetious guys.

The comment was very general, so I had to be a pedant :D

I know very well about dropping weight to increase performance. Hence my comments in other threads about the z being a fatty!

  7. stats like that are only good for pub banter,

if you want a quick 0-60 you need a light weight car

I've just had a call from Mr Veyron. He would beg to differ!

actually he wouldn't... don't you watch topgear? the veyron isn't the fasted track car by far, and in dubai it was smoked by the lighter F1 only after half a mile did the veyros power pull it past the F1

    Sorry?

The quote was, if you want a quick 0-60 you need a light weight car.

The Veyron is heavy and does it in 2.5-2.8 seconds. Unless you think 2.5 seconds to 60 is slow, it's end of discussion!

  8. Or, you give her the amount requested for the car, less the money required for settlement.

Get her to request a settlement letter before you arrive, and pay the remainder off on Monday.

Don't drive off with the finance not settled. If she has the money to clear it, there's no reason for her not to. Or for you to pay less.

  9. I think it's entirely reasonable to know the top speed of the car you own!!!

Suggesting it's not important is just odd. Don't you want to know what your baby can do. Even if you never intend on getting it to that?

If top speeds and 0-60's were irrelevant then they wouldn't be the headline figures for articles/reviews so often.

That's not to say I disagree with what's posted above, about the package etc. Just that it's also nice to know. I haven't seen any figures either, and haven't got it up to nearly fast enough to make an educated guess, as air resistance goes up exponentially, just because it's still pulling easily at 130mph doesn't mean it won't hit a wall at 150/155 for example.
