  1. Came from an EP3 myself. The Zed had looks to die for, sounded amazing and I'd always longed for one. In the end I just didn't gel with it. As others have said, it just didn't put the smile on my face that the Type R did. With the Type R I'd go for a quick spin just for the hell of it, and was still doing so 6 years in.

As with any purchase like this test drive first. Unfortunately, it took about 6 months of ownership before I realised the Zed was not really the car for me.

Different horses for different courses as they say.......I’m now back in a hot hatch....and loving it :)

  2. Ok, so who's the blue 350z owner who frequents the Indian Dream restaurant? I was talking to the owner's son last week (owns a lovely Supra) about my ex Zed and owners clubs. He mentioned another customer who owned a blue 350z who had been on the recent Wales run and shown him a few videos.

I congratulate you....great taste in cars and food B)

  3. On a side note: I've been tempted to copy mine for a backup, any idea if this would work or is there some form of copy protection on it?

Although the Zed has now gone :byebye: I can confirm that you can back them up. My original dvd was badly scratched when I got the car, though it still worked perfectly. Just in case it packed up I made a back up. I think it's fairly fussy about the type of burner and disk used. Took two attempts to get a working copy. I used a verbatim disc and a Lite-on burner on the slowest speed with Alcohol 120.

If you have to buy the kit from scratch it may well turn out cheaper to buy from the link in this discussion

  4. A few years ago I was driving past Coventry Uni. A group of lads were waiting to cross the road, possibly Chinese or Japanese. Windows were down, as the sun was out, and as I drove past they all looked and, in unison, said 'AHHH Nissan'. Made me smile.

Similar to a previous post, lady at work asked if it had a 2L engine

  5. Though he doesn't know it yet

Just came out of a new group guitar lesson. Walked back to the car park with chap to have a look at his new car. Brand spanking new bianco eldorado white Maserati Granturismo S. What a beauty. Was getting dark at the time so couldn't really get a good look inside but oh the sound!!!!! He blipped the throttle a few times and it was OBSCENE (in a nice way). No test drive though  so just followed him down the road with my windows open to take the sound in (think he must have had the sport button pressed).

The Zed sounded somewhat lacking as he disappeared into the distance but I guess that's understandable comparing it to an £80K+ car :p

  6. I have a '57 plate Ibizu black GT. I was expecting to get a PX offer of around 9K as they usually take the P  . Ended up with an offer of 12k for the Z and £850 off the new car plus the usual mats, full tank of fuel and 3 years servicing ;) so happy with that.

Think I would have struggled to get a quick sale putting it up for that privately though the dealers did describe it as 'mint' and 'out of the box'. One even thought it had superguard paint protection as the dodo juice purple haze was doing such a good job of making it sparkle :D .

  7. The usual story I'm afraid. New mortgage and other changes in salary have altered my priorities a bit. Therefore I'm part exchanging the Z later this week :byebye: . Came from a hot hatch to the giddy heights of the Z but now returning to a lukewarm small car. The Z was known as the Beast, I guess the new car will be known as the mosquito

Poor timing as well as the mighty Wales drive awaits. Will be sure to hide some 350z-uk cards around the car when it goes. I'm sure I'll carry on frequenting the site until I gradually drive off into the sunset  . Definitely one of the best car forums I've had the pleasure of being a member of.
