will definately be trying Chris Knott when I come to renew. Heard good things about them off other people I know.
We try our best!

There is no doubting the success of our insurance scheme and we do thank all of you for ringing us.
However, we are often asked about online quoting.
The scheme is such that it is impossible to quote online but we have an idea!
We prefer people to ring us for a quote but if you're car insurance renewal is due within the next 21 days, please feel free to complete the questions below, then copy & paste, then email to peter.haywood@chrisknott.co.uk, who will contact you with the quote.
The scheme starts for ages 30 and over and you must have at least 1 year's NCB (unless you have NCB on a second car or a company car letter to state at least 1 year's claim free driving).
All drivers must have held a full UK licence for at least 1 year, and to insure a 'performance' car, there must be at least 1 years experience of driving that, or similar performance cars. Unfortunately, the scheme is not competitive on all M - Manchester, L - Liverpool, OL - Oldham & SK1-12 - Stockport postcodes and excludes Northern Ireland.
1.WE WILL ONLY QUOTE IF YOUR CAR INSURANCE RENEWAL DATE IS WITHIN 21 DAYS OF THE DATE OF YOUR EMAIL,
2.PLEASE ANSWER EVERY QUESTION BELOW,
3.COPY & PASTE ALL THE TEXT FROM 'NAME OF CLUB' DOWN TO THE BOTTOM
4.EMAIL THIS TO peter.haywood@chrisknott.co.uk
5.WE WILL RING YOU BACK WITH THE QUOTE. (IF YOU HAVEN'T HEARD ANYTHING WITHIN 24 HOURS, PLEASE RING US AS WE INTEND TO LEAVE MESSAGES & SEND EMAILS SAYING WE HAVE TRIED TO CONTACT YOU).

• Recovery home or original destination if repairs cannot be carried out at roadside
• Accident or vandalism cover
• Fire, theft or attempted theft cover
• Flat battery, loss or breakage of keys cover
• Lack of fuel cover

All the above benefits are available under the "Home Start" cover if the breakdown occurs at the Customer's home.

I'm going to have a dilemma come June when my insurance runs out. I'm turning 25 in November and have no idea whether it's worth getting another year's worth of insurance with somebody else or whether it would be cheaper (and if so, then how and who would do this?) to insure for the 4 months and then go to Chris Knott on my birthday.... hmm... Decisions, decisions.
So what did you decide?

We wouldn't need an engineers report on a cat C or D write off.
-
Must admit, even though we are the intermediary, we rarely get moans about their payouts.
For me personally, I think they pay out TOO MUCH (!) when it comes to total loss claims but they are very fair and I have every confidence in them tbh. Maybe half the reason why i insure my car with them!
I also have kept positive feedback about their service too!
-
and tim could you explain if my car was a right off how you would come to a valuation and pay out on all my modifications?! i understand that if it was repairable you'd repair it as it was before the accident modification included but if it a right off you'd give me a price of what the standard car would be worth but then how would you evaluate the figure for all the mods id loose many thanks
Here is the insurers reply -
In answer to your question :
When calculating a total loss settlement on a modified vehicle we simply offer the market value and make a positive or negative allowance for the mods. Similar to a standard calculation we would :
• Cross check Glass's guide to the standard spec - allowing for mileage
• Take into consideration service history, number of owners any pre existing cosmetic damage (if known)
• Cross check Auto trader for any similar modified examples.
• Pitch a value that reflects desiribilty in mind of fitted body kit, alloy wheels, engine changes and cosmetic changes to interior, exterior fittings and paint.
• We would not simply calculate quantum by taking the retail adjusted figure and add the total expenditure of Modifications in line with receipts.
Each car is different so the logical approach is to view each vehicle on its merits. On difficult cases the claims department seeks advice via a qualified engineer (field or inhouse) before committing to offer. It often proves very difficult to agree to settle on such cases and as a result modified vehicles tend to be settled by experienced and technical adjusters
I hope this information helps in some way.

I insured the Honda today and got a call back in 20 minutes.
That's good Martin.
Tbh, i do see posts like yours on other forums - us calling people back within minutes - but it's always good to keep on top of things.

Hi
Sorry for the delay in responding. Just that i'm out of the office all this week and for some reason I missed Dick's pm.
I would say we do call everyone back without fail!
The only reason we don't manage to speak to people is because either they have gone out or the wrong number has been taken down.
Our stats show that we only manage to contact 2 out of 10 people on average! It’s frustrating for us as well!
Please feel free to try us again as we would have tried you the same day. (Mondays & Fridays are our most busiest however!).
(I covered for a colleague recently and was given a list of 4 people to ring back for a quote. None responded so, of the 4, I left messages on 2 answer phones, whilst 1 phone just rang & rang & the other was engaged consistently for hours. I checked a week later and at least 3 had not rung us back - I didn't have enough details to check the fourth. The other thing we're are up against is the fact that people don't answer numbers they don't recognise and we have personal numbers here as well as the main switchboard).
I've pm'd you back Dick btw.

Things like annual miles also do make a huge difference... Mine's expensive, but I do drive the Z a lot.
Yes, tis true!
-
Bit annoyed at this. Just called for a quote and was told that because I hadn't owned a 350Z for more than a year they can't offer me a quote. The first page here it say "and to insure a 'performance' car, there must be at least 1 years experience of driving that, or similar performance cars.". I've just had a Lotus Elise 111R for 15 months - quicker than the 350Z and a higher insurance group. Any idea why they don't put this in the same class as the 350? Not BHP surely?...
Can you pm me your name & postcode and i'll get the team to check please?
-
Thanks to all who have rung us for a quote.
We have just calculated the figures for 2009 and they show that the average recorded saving we made for our new customers last year was 12.5% off their BEST quote so it's certainly worth a call!
We consistently average over 80% renewal retention as well (December was 84%!) so people are happy at renewal as well!
0800 917 2274 or 01580 752961 until 1/3/10 then 01424 200477.

Hi
Simple question - to those with panel filters what did your insurance company say when you told them? Does it equal a "modified air filter/box", meaning you are now paying the same insurance as if you had gone the full hog and put an induction kit on?
Thanks for any info or comments.
Always declare anything different from factory standard. Mods are fine with us anyway, except roll cages & nitrous.
-
will do that but they said they wanted a written quote ,spose if i got e mail from Admiral that would b ok ?
Yes fine!
-
I'm surprised! i rang and you couldn't even better my current insures price for a 350Z, which surprisingly was more than for a singe turbo Supra, with more power
Surprising yes as this scheme is doing really well for you guys. If you pm me your name & postcode I could check it out?
-
Hi
Please don't forget to ring us if your insurance is due in February - 0800 917 2274 or 01580 752961.
Things are back to normal here after the snow! Sorry for any disruption though we are moving to a town in March where half the staff live anyway so we shouldn't encounter the difficulties we had getting into here earlier this month!
-
Hello Folks,
Just got my renewal through from Chris Knott it had gone up £20 so I thought I would phone around managed to get a quote from Admiral with the new wheels declared got a quote that saves me nearly £100
So give them a try
Sandy
Please feel free to give us a call back.
-
We can't do it I'm afraid. Sorry.
-
Hi
As with most people, we have been affected by the snow but most of our staff are in now though it took some time. We are due more snow in our location in the next few days but as half our staff are fairly local anyway, this shouldn't be a problem.
I'll let you know however if there are any significant changes re staffing!
-
Hi
The phones were quite busy today due to it being the first day back at work for many people so if you couldn't get through then things should be a tad quieter tomorrow!
If your car insurance or breakdown renewal is due in January, then please feel free to ring us on 0800 917 2274 or 01580 752961.
Please ensure you quote the club name and reference number found in my signature!
-
Though it doesn't affect our premium, I think it may with Admiral. Best to ring and ask them.
