  1. I don't understand why people are so quick to dis a Boxster, it's an absolutely fabulous car. Have all of the haters ever driven one? I had a 3.2 for three years before I had my Zed and it was brilliant in every way except running costs. I really liked my Zed too but if I were in the market for a 2 seater car again I think my preference would be the Boxster.

As for the X3, I agree with everyone else, it's an ugly car;I've known one person to own one and they hated it, not something I would ever consider.

I agree with a previous poster, how about a BMW Estate? - A 335d would be awesome, faster than the 2.7 Porsche and more practical than the X3. Best of both worlds.

  2. I viewed an X5 tonight and all going well with an inspection tomorrow I will be driving a Chelsea Tractor by the weekend. I plan to do an HPI Check or equivalent but I'm unsure which check I should run that would provide the most peace of mind, does anyone have any opinions on this?

    Cheers,

  3. Further Price Cut, the car's going back to the dealer at the beginning of next week who is going to sell it on my behalf, this is your last chance to get it at the bargain price of £23k before it goes..... That's £10k less than new and it's only covered 10,700 miles and has the remaining 23 month manufactures warranty. Still looks and drives as new

PM me if this floats your boat!

  4. I'm a big fan of the XK.

Because of mileage I do and ferrying a two year old here and there I went for a BMW 535d.

The torque is pretty amazing, the twin turbos help plus its economical. It should make close to 350bhp and over 500lbs of torque once mapped too, the only bad point is some scumbag broke into it Birmingham last week and now the anti trap on the window is playing up and the airbags lights on

In a straight line, would you say the 535 would blow the zed away?

Having moved to an Elise, I'm missing having torque and space and definitely considering a 535 or a 335 (petrol or diesel) for my next car.

  5. Utter scumbags.

Where are the stolen cars ending up? Exported, broken, re-registered? I read a similar story on the scottish elises site where a guy in aberdeeen had his Audi stolen. Apparently this is becoming very common and widely covered on Pistonheads.

  6. I'm selling my lotus on pistonheads and got the email below , i'm a bit suspicious that the emailer wants to know the reg details etc of the car before anything else, worried it might be a scam, does anyone have any experiences that would suggest this may not be genuine? I'm also a bit suspicious of the pigeon English at the end.

    "Hi,

is there a full service history (documented) and is it hpi clear?

does it have the v5 document?

Please provide me with Reg # and the vin number also (chassis number, 17 characters) so i can run a FULL HPI check on it.

when is the best time for view?

    Thank you! "

I dunno if I'm being overly suspicious but it's a £25k car so I'd prefer to err on the side of caution, I've not replied yet.

    Cheers,

  7. Hi,

I'm not sure if this car will appeal to anyone on this forum but thought I'd see if there was any interest; I am finding that due to a change in Job and a new found addiction for golf, my Elise is becoming too impractical, here's a link to the Pistonheads Ad and below Ive copied the content and one of the pics: http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/3859334.htm

I bought this car as it was a complete change to the Zed, especailly in running costs, it's been great fun but I need a daily driver now that can fit my golf clubs and a trolley into the boot

If anyone has any comments good or bad about the car, spec, asking price or even where it's advertised I'd be interested to hear from you. I've found that 99% of the time, comments on 'For Sale' topics have been constructive.

    Many thanks,

    G

Lotus Elise 1.6 with Touring Pack, Carbon Grey, 9,900 miles, Registered in March 2011 so there is 23 months Lotus Warranty remaining, the car is in immaculate condition, HPI Clear and No Finance. The car had was serviced in December at the Lotus Factory in Norfolk having covered 8,200 miles and is Taxed until December 2012.

The car is extremely cheap to run, returning around 40mpg and costing only £130 per year Road Tax, also, very cheap for company car tax as it has CO2 emissions of only 149g/kg

The only reason I am selling the car is because I have changed jobs and unfortunately now require something more practical.

On top of Standard equipment such as Central Locking, Cat 1 Alarm/immobiliser, Brembo brake callipers and ABS, the car was supplied with the following Factory Options:

    Touring Pack - £2,100

    Paprika Leather Probax Seats

    Padded Leather Door Panels

    Perforated Leather Door Inserts

    Leather Trimmed Centre Consol

    Leather Handbrake Lever Gait

Black Carpet Mats with Embroidered Elise logo

    Noise Insulation panelling

    Auxiliary driving lights

iPod Stereo Connection (Alpine CD/MP3Head Unit Replaced under warranty in Jan 2012)

    Trinket Tray Divider

    Cruise Control

    Black Style Pack - £520

Black Wheels and Black Rear Diffuser

    Lifestyle Paint - £1,100

    Carbon Grey

    Air Conditioning - £1,100

Traction and Stability Control £ 300

I am slightly biased but the car looks absolutely stunning in the flesh and the Paprika leather looks really great and makes the car quite unique.

If you have any questions or queries, please do not hesitate to contact me.

    Any inspections are welcome.

    £24,990 ono.

  8. I'm selling my 16GB 1st generation iPad (wifi) as I'm upgrading to the new iPad, it was bought in late March 2011 and has only left it's dock a few times so is in perfect condition and comes with an unused cover and all original packaging.

It will be returned to Factory settings prior to despatch.

I'm looking for £225 + p&p or can be collected in Edinburgh.

  9. I meant to do this ages ago but never got around to it; thanks very much to everyone who gave me their opinions on the Elise Club Racer, you guys made some good points and got me thinking! (especially AK350z) I ended up not getting the Cub Racer as it was a little too extreme a move from the Zed however I did buy an Elise with a Touring Pack, Black Pack, Air Con and Traction Control in Carbon Grey.

It's a completely different car to the Zed but the more I drive it the more I enjoy it, I find myself popping out of the office at lunch time just to go for a blast whenever I have it with me which I've never really done in the past, so far it's been brilliant, my gf is even coming round to liking it, though she still prefers my Zed!

Thanks too to Vik for pointing me in the direction of Scottishelises.com

    I've attached a few pics.
