  1. Unfortunately the old garage functionality was a bit hit and miss, and caused a lot of issues with the last software. We will look to put one in here if possible, though it may take a while.

The donate button we should be looking to add back in, but at present its a bit of a decision where to put it. Im thinking a block of useful items like this and perhaps a member map underneath the birthdays or upcoming events on the main forum view.

  2. Yep - the serach should now be working properly here now. No need to use the google method. Google will be recaching this site like mad, as not a single page it has cached will be available here now. Expect to see the googlebot logged into the forum quite a lot at present.

  3. Click edit post, go to full editor, and the attachment is probably still there, click save (dont need to make any changes) and it reappears again. This should have been fixed when the system re-wrote the posts - reluctant to do that again now, as it takes about 10 hours. Will see if the attachments can be re cached.

  4. Its pretty quick and easy to do on a windows box, slightly more complicated on a unix box, but there are also possible negative performance issues that could arrise from disabling tcp timestamps on the server, so we would need a bit more time to investigate the effects of this on the applications running on the server. If its not affecting many people, then a client side solution may be prefferable at this point.

  5. I'd also like to extend a thank you to the members that helped in the creation of the new look and were part of the testing and upgrade. We appear to have missed a couple of bits, like the smilies on Ipad, but that is more to do with iOS at the moment, but they should appear for iPad users soon when an update to the forum for iOS5 compatibility arrives.

We hope you like some of the more advance features, like the social media integration. You can now "like" a thread right from the forum - just click one of the buttons to let your friends on facebook or your followers on twitter know about the content on a thread here. You can print and download threads from those buttons at the bottom too, so if you need to print a thread as a guide for a Z mod you are doing, you can print it properly now.

If you cant tear yourself away from the club, we also have the ability for "push" notifications if you connect to the forum via tapatalk on your phone.

We are hoping that the integration of the calendar into the portal screen, and the forums themselves that Regional event organisers will find it easier to set up and manage meets and events.

Traders can also customise their profiles on the fourm, so they can "brand" their profile page if they wish.

Im sure Im missing some of the fun stuff that can be done - and no doubt some of the issues. We changed once before, and Im hopeful that this isnt too drastic a difference for people. :)

  6. Sadly two items that will require attention to get them to work - old links to forum threads will not work, as this board now uses friendly URL's i.e. instead of topic=?58676 you may get topic/58676-topic-title-here.

We are working on member locations, but again it may take an update to do it. We are trying to steer away from having a lot of information displayed on the avatar, as each piece of information displayed there, is possibly another query to the database for each item. Multiply that by the number of members that have replied on a thread, and its easy to start loading up the server pulling all sorts of data on demand.

We may see the addition of location in the profile you see when you hover over a members name.

Bug with the video overlapping the login box on IE should hopefully be fixed now - bloody Internet explorer! :boxing:

  7. When I go to change the theme on iPhone it takes me from the full site to mobile. I then click full site again and Beavis's car is still there.

I can't see nothing more than Ultra Yellow

Also when there is a 4+ page thread, on the left you'll see pages 1, 2, 3, 4. When I go to page 4 I cannot select page one, unless I first go to page 2, because page 1 isn't visible. If that makes sense?

Liking the new message pop up whilst you're on the forum, very smart :)

When on the full version, select "change theme" rather than mobile theme, that will let you pick a colour.

To go back to page 1, click the button with << on it to the left of number 2, that will get you back to the first page.

  8. Also noticed that when i click view new content it seems to randomly select either members, home, forum rather than maintain the last selection. Pressing it twice then returns to the forum view.

Messages also send an automatic email to my email account. Is there any way to deactivate that otherwise my inbox will be chocca :)

When you click new content, it will show you new content based on the section of the forum you are in at the time. i.e. if you are viewing this post and click new content, you will be shown new content in the forums. If you are viewing a gallery and click new content, it will show you new gallery content.

If you go to your username at the top, select profile, then select "edit profile" over on the right, you can manage your notification settings there under the "notification options". If you want to be really nerdy, I believe you can set it to notify you on your mobile!

  9. Is there still the option to view active topics anywhere?

New site looking great by the way! B)

Click "view new content" top right. You can then filter this new content by date, section of the site (gallery, forums etc). If you wish to mark any section as read, then on the main forum list, click the dark grey Z over on the left and you can mark the whole of that section read. The Z then becomes light grey.

Oh and if you like it that much, you can now "like" a post and announce it on facebook or a multitude of other sites - see icons at the bottom :)

  10. can you take a screen shot? Just tested with i.e. here and all looks ok.

Smilies will not be available for selection on Ipad as they rely on the rich text editor - which is only supported under iOS 5. An update is expected shortly to bring the smilies back for ipad users, but at present they would just cause a slowdown for people using ipads. You can still type the code directly if you like. i.e. : teeth : without the spaces becomes :teeth:

  11. nice one guys - must've been a lot of hard work

suggest though that if you're going to have video on home page it doesn't play automatically - nothing more annoying than noise as soon as you log onto a site perhaps just a linky

Good suggestion Vik - I can set autoplay to off. May get people into trouble at work :blush:

  12. There may be some teething issues for ipad at the moment, will sort as soon as possible.

If you dont want beavis' car at the top, scroll to the bottom, click change theme and pick the colour you want. 370z's will be available shortly.

  13. Although admiral were cheap for me on one of the cars, when I rang to change the policy I couldnt get anyone in the call centre with more than a single ameoba rattling around in their skull.

I wanted to change the vehicle to a Kuga with a few of the standard "packs" that Ford have as factory options. They couldnt get their head round the fact that these were factory fitted standard components, and wanted a full list of every change the "packs" I had added contained. This was quite ridiculous, as some added things like tinted windows and a glass roof. They added the tinted windows as a modification but the glass roof they didnt need to make not of - even though the glass repair part of the policy includes the roof if fitted... Wheels, xenons, keyless - all sorts of different bits.

After losing my rag a few times trying to explain these were parts of the standard car you get from Ford I told them it had machine guns behind the headlights, automatic spikes that came out of the tyres, rocket launchers in the roofrack rails and an automatic smokescreen and oil slick deployed from the rear, and hung up. Still dont know whats insured and whats not. Juts made sure it says Kuga Titanium X on the policy and thats enough for me, as the titanium X covers all the bits, as its the words titanium and X that are the packs.

Renewal time comes round in a couple of months on that car, and Admiral can shove it up their ring. Absolutely useless.
