Justthejedi Posted May 22, 2015 Posted May 22, 2015 Has anyone got a step by step guide with photo's if possible of how to fit a double din head unit please? I have a Pioneer Avh-2600. Will the cage supplied with the unit fit behind the trim? I've had a play and can't work out how to secure it behind the trim? Cheers Justin Quote
J4M3S Posted May 22, 2015 Posted May 22, 2015 Ive just installed a Pioneer SPH-DA120. I had to remove the cage that it came with and then the stereo would screw directly to the mounts on the centre console (I found it easier to remove the centre console from the car completely). You will also need a Facia for it Quote
Stutopia Posted May 22, 2015 Posted May 22, 2015 When I did mine, this was super helpful http://www.350z-uk.com/topic/56481-kenwood-ddx-4028bt-rear-cam-install-–-superguide/ Quote
Stutopia Posted May 22, 2015 Posted May 22, 2015 No worries, good luck with the install. If, like me, paitence is not a big part of your skill set try and take it easy and don't force anything - it's all brittle plastic. Be super careful with the ribbon out the back of the climate controls, it's delicate and important! If you have a magnet on a stick, it's handy for the inevitable dropped screw. Post some pics up when you're done. Quote
Justthejedi Posted May 22, 2015 Author Posted May 22, 2015 I've worked out why I can't secure the stereo...........the original Bose stereo metal mounting brackets are missing!! I had my Pioneer "professionally" fitted a year ago, look at the state of this bodge job! Quote

Post some pics up when you're done. Stereo's now in properly and securely, you were right about having a long magnet to hand as I dropped the screws a lot! I found getting all the wires to fit behind was a real pain and I think I might have pinched one as now the steering wheel track skip button is struggling to go to the next track. I don't fancy taking it all apart again......but will probably have to........sometime......probably. Quote
Stutopia Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 Glad you got it sorted(ish). If you do go in for round 2, I struggled to get mine back in due to wires being bunched up behind the HU. Ended up cable tying a lot of them deeper in/to the side, behind the recess and out of the way (after much swearing and trying to just jam the HU in) Quote
Justthejedi Posted June 3, 2015 Author Posted June 3, 2015 Yes, I think I will have to do that too superstu......but what a great sense of achievement afterwards, I was dead chuffed with the fit, perfect, compared to how it was by a "professional" installer. 1 Quote
