I believe they smooth out the intake airflow with the better velocity stack as the older ones have a bit of disrupted airflow, pretty sure it can smooth throttle response and give gains on a dyno. The 06 airbox is proven to be better than most after market systems due to the velocity stack. 99% that's the deal. Quote
