Akrapovic/ Other Exhaust Questions

Hello All,

 

I've done a search and read most of the threads on here but I reckon my specific circumstances warrant their own post. My 370 has a full Akrapovic exhaust, Berks HFC's and Takeda Intakes. I'm in love the Akrapovic build quality and look, its a fantastic piece of kit, but overall I just wish it was a bit louder. Don't get me wrong, once it gets going at about 4.5k rpm+ its lovely, but below that a bit quiet. My 350 had a Cobra exhaust on it and I was in love with how that sounded. So the questions:

 

1. Is it possible to have my existing exhaust professionally mechanically modified so its a bit louder? (preferred option)

 

2. Which element of the exhaust is most responsible for noise, is it the back box for example?

 

3. Is it possible to mix and match elements of different exhausts, so could I swap my back box for a Cobra and keep the rest?

 

Any pearls of wisdom much appreciated!

Used to have a miltek and hfc on my 350, now running a cobra on the 370 and it sounds pretty good. Nice rumble at low revs and half decent over run. Little bit boomy at 3000rpm / 80mph but not excessive. Miltek was quieter by comparison but I miss the hfc. Not paying 600 quid for a new set though!
