Spatt Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 As title.. i bought some HFC running to a Nismo back box (not that i think that matters) and one of my flexible connections has started leaking! Its sounds awful and needs replacing. so, options. can i have my original Y pipe modified and have solid pipes parts put in? do i replace with a standard Y pipe part? .......................I have heard this will simply start leaking again due to high pressure in the Y pipe? Or do i need to upgrade to a solid stainless Y pipe if so what are the advantages of this? thanks in advance, Matt Quote
MITZ@CougarStore Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 Matt, we had a Nismo system in last week with a damaged flexi, so we swapped it for a Cobra Y pipe and all was well... Let us know if we can help... Quote
Lacky Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 I upgraded my Y-pipe to a cobra unit, from one of the traders on here, after installing my HFCs. Never had a problem with it. Quote
Spatt Posted September 30, 2014 Author Posted September 30, 2014 seems an upgrade could be the way to go Quote
KyleR Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 I wouldn't be spending near £300 on a Y pipe just because a flexi has started blowing. It shouldn't cost more than £90 for have a new flexi fitted, or indeed you could have both of them cut out and a solid pipe welded in their place for about the same money, but solving both sides. Some may say that the weld won't be as smooth and therefore lose a HP or 2 or some rubbish, but even a messy weld will be smoother than the flexible steel that was there before hand. Quote
Spatt Posted September 30, 2014 Author Posted September 30, 2014 hmmm. ill get hold of the guys at top gear and see what they say Quote
comrade Posted October 2, 2014 Posted October 2, 2014 Get a local welder to cut it off and weld a new flexi or just a straight pipe in. Got mine done for £20. Quote
