Engine rough at idle.

My 55 zed has only covered 8000 miles but after coming to rest after a run the rev gauge needle hunts up and down between 500 and 1000 rpm.This is accompanied by knocking noise from the engine which is occasionally quite loud.My dealer is pretty clueless although he thinks it might be a faulty camshaft position sensor and says it needs further investigation.Has anyone else had similar problems?.

yep, dirty throttle body. Needs a clean. . . . might not be though with only 8000 miles but u never know. mine had done 12,000

Is that part of Nissan service cleaning the bodie or map sensor ? My mums is knocking on idle a slight knock ever so many seconds ?

Its not part of a normal service. But there is a guide on how to clean the throttle body in the guides section of the forum
